Seamus had arrived to dinner late, there was no particular reason for his lateness, he'd just been distract. He'd practiced quidditch, enjoyed the outdoors and meandered his way back into the school. But it meant the hall was a lot emptier as he sat at the slytherin table for dinner. He was one of only a couple people left at the table and of only handful in the hall. He knew that he was probably pretty quickly going to end up at curfew, but Seamus was hungry and it was important to eat. A professor could argue he had poor time management, but he was still going to get something to eat. It was a little interesting to him to see who else was eating at this slightly later hour, once most had eaten but half of them appeared to be studying which Seamus just thought was super lame. Who studied while they ate. But mostly he focused on getting food on to his own plate to be able to eat.

Brooke sighed into her tea, pulling it away from her face abruptly before it could splatter on any of her books. Honestly, she wondered if there was really any point in her studying anymore. She was never going to be a prefect, let alone head girl. She had no club leadership position, barely stood out in class. She might as well not bother if her impact at school was going to be so minimal, why not enjoy herself? It made sense, but Brooke still couldn't find it in her to not at least try to do well on her NEWTs, even if kept her late in the hall looking over her books.

She glanced up when a younger Slytherin settled near her, recognizing him from the Quidditch team. "Are you only just eating now? What have you been doing all evening?" She asked incredulously as she saw him start dishing a plate of food. It may not have helped her much over the years but Brooke still took pride in her time management skills and the idea that someone coudl let something like dinner slip their mind for this long baffled her.

Seamus glanced up when someone spoke to him. He wasn't sure he'd spotted her sitting there but she was there. He glanced down at his plate and gave a little nod. "Forgot," he said with a shrug. It wasn't like he'd been doing a whole lot that was important. It just escaped his mind to go eat, and then the hours had passed. He knew that when he was at home and Hamish was around he was better at eating on time, because he kept him to time. Seamus put a forkful of food into his mouth and ate the bite quickly, realising now how hungry he was. "Are you not also just eating?" he said once he'd finished the bite, since he couldn't think of another reason why someone would stay in the great hall that long.

Brooke resisted the urge to roll her eyes at Seamus, finally remembering his name after being to so many Quidditch matches, though she was pretty sure he was firmly in the bench-warmer category. Which would make sense if he put as much effort into his training as he did apparently everything else. “I’m studying, I have NEWTs this year, they’re important,” she said primly. Studying in the common room could be pretty hit or miss but it was nothing on the risks of trying to take anything back to her dorm and have to deal with the potential of Liusaidh booby trapping her ink well or something. “Seriously, how do you forget to eat dinner. Do you leave all your homework to the last minute too?” She asked, unnerved by the boys blase attitude. Brooke had often thought she put in far too much effort for what her time got her at school but the idea of being so relax to forget to hand in assignments to show up so late to things made her want to shudder.

Seamus shrugged a little as she said she was studying. For those NEWTS. He knew he was soon to do the OWLs, but he wasn't exactly worried about it. What would it matter if he did poorly. He'd be fine, he'd just play quidditch, hopefully get off the bench at long last. He shovelled more food into his mouth and ate it quickly, he'd half thought she would now be done with him, and would go back to that homework, but she didn't. ”If I even do it,” Seamus replied with a shrug, since he really didn't often do his homework. Usually distracted by something else and mostly not wanting to do it.
