Open Keeping the Peace

Yvonne couldn't help but get swept up in the student's excitement every time the Yule ball rolled around. It was sweet to see them so excited and whispering about who was going with who and who would be wearing what. She wondered if she'd ever get tried of sympathizing with their big emotions and their feeling that this night was the only thing that mattered when in reality it was just one night and there would be plenty more. But tonight she stood off to the side of the dance floor and kept watch for any kind of funny business. She was willing to let some things slide from older kids who were or were practically adults, but there were still plenty of younger ones who needed to be watched. She took a sip of the punch lazily and swayed along with the music and was momentarily alarmed when she realized she didn't recognize any of the songs. With a sigh, she wished she had a bit stronger of a drink and wondered when she had gotten so old.
