It's our Town, Everybody Scream

As much as they disapproved of their classmates opinions of what made a good scary costume, Halloween was too important a day to the Westwick twins not to put in an appearance at the school celebrations. Today was particularly auspicious to the two - they were turning thirteen years of age today, and as such it felt important to put in an appearance, to mark this occasion with their presence. Their costumes were carefully chosen to match, as they had been last year, and hand in hand with Theodore, Edmund made his way into the crowded room, wrinkling his nose behind his mask at the cacophony of noise and people and terrible costumes without even so much as a passing thought towards being scary. Was that girl a bee? And another girl just looked like she was wearing a normal dress with a fancy hat. What a waste. Frustrated by the meager fare of genuinely frightening costumes Edmund made his way through the event with Theodore, turning their heads in sync to look at people as they passed, an effect they had no need to practice.

Halloween at Hogwarts was both a blessing and a curse. It was nice to plan a costume with Edmund and work on it together, but the spectacle in the Great Hall showed them that once again, no one else at Hogwarts had a true appreciation for the art of the macabre. It was also their birthday, which Theodore had always loved. He stayed at his brother's side, taking in the many silly costumes he saw. "Disappointing at always." He said quietly as a girl in a silly dragon costume passed, though it was slightly muffled by the mask. His hand instinctively found his twin's when a group of people passed by too close. Theodore still didn't like being in crowds, though his brother was somewhat better at it.
