The stash of sweets Knox had been gathering for weeks now weighed down the backpack on his shoulders, various packets of chocolate frogs, fizzing whizzbees, and jelly slugs shifting around with each step as he ran to the next house over and seek out his best friend. Spring was verging into summer which meant their plans to build a fort in the forest by their neighbourhood could finally be realized, and when breakfast was over Knox did not want to wait another moment to get started. The sooner they built their long anticipated fort, the sooner they could spend the summer hiding away and exploring the forest surrounding it. Stepping onto Bucket's porch, Knox looked in the window to check if his friend was there and waved when he saw her, before he moved to the front door and knocked rapidly. Soon enough she opened the door, and Knox greeted her with a wide grin on his face. "Hey! I brought all the snacks, you ready to go?" He half-turned as he spoke, ready to leave and head to the forest as soon as possible.

With summer finally approaching it meant that Bucket could get to build the fort that she and Knox had been planning for sometime so they had made a plan for the first pleasant day to build their dream fort. They had wanted to have one and with their final year before the start of Hogwarts and their possible separation between houses it felt like this was a good way for them to have a spot that was just theirs. Of course Bucket didn't say anything like that but it wouldn't keep her from feeling it. After grabbing what she had felt was a necessity, a screaming yo-yo, exploding snap, a mobile version of wizard's chess and a few other muggle toys she had collected over the years. Buck expected that aside from playing and having a lot more sweets than they would tell their parents about they would get to pick the right tree for them. The rest would surely be done by one of their parents who was good with wandwork as they had yet to have even started school. Upon opening the door she said, "Lumos," as a joke greeting to her friend whose name sounded very similar to the counter spell. The girl nodded her head though upon the question and grabbed her bag filled with games and toys and said, "Yep, I've got the essentials!" Bucket closed the door behind her and walked in long strides to catch up with her best friend.

Knox laughed at bucket's joke over his name, though not a moment later he fully turned away from her, beginning to jog towards the forest when she confirmed she had everything they needed. Already he could tell this fort would be his favourite thing about the summer, and the best way to spend time with his friend before they inevitably left for Hogwarts to begin their lives as a real witch and wizard. Knox was a little apprehensive to leave the home he knew behind for something new, as despite his mother and father telling him all about their magical education, without the experience himself there was no way he could imagine what Hogwarts would be like. All he could do really was take things one day at a time and enjoy each moment as it happened, something he was more than happy for since in that moment the fort he and bucket were dreaming of was finally going to become a reality. Reaching the edge of the forest, Knox paused, waiting until he knew Bucket had caught up with him. Looking to her and giving a nod of confidence, he stepped forward into the trees, ducking underneath branches and climbing over rocks until they found the perfect place for the fort they could claim as their own.

Bucky ran alongside - if not slightly behind - Knox towards the forest eager to get started on their fort and what it would mean for their secret hangouts. As they walked together through the forest, Bucket was aware of what they would need. Namely a sturdy tree that could hold their weight as well as the weight of their ambitious tree house. She also wanted one that wasn’t too close to the forest line so she walked deeper into the forest with Knox until she spotted one that looked perfect about a yard before her. She gasped in excitement and said, “Look!” She ran towards it, weaving between the trees until she reached the foot of it and touched the trunk excitedly. If Knox was okay with it she felt like this tree could very well be it. She turned her head towards him, waiting for him to catch up and also to see what he had thought of it.
