Marley had been hyped for today's tryouts. The weather hadn't been too bad, a few winds and clouds here and there, but nothing that would get the tryouts in the way. The Hufflepuff captain came to the Quidditch pitch early to set up for practice, making sure there was any spare equipment in case those who were trying out didn't have equipment and whatnot. Marley was also excited to captain the team on her own this year, as she had been co-captaining with Bailey when she became captain a couple of years ago. The Hufflepuff felt that this year was extra special, as this was her final year and that she was able to do this on her own this year.

Marley waited on the pitch for returning players and those who were newly trying out or were trying out again. The Hufflepuff grins as it looked like everyone had arrived. "Hey, everyone! Welcome to Quidditch team tryouts for Hufflepuff! If you didn't know I'm Marley Owens-Lee and I am the captain of the Hufflepuff team this year," Marley says proudly with a grin as she looked at the group of players. "Do your absolute best! And try as much as you can. The rules are the same as always. Current players from last year get to keep their spots, and alternates will need to try-out again, as well as those ones who will be newly joining us" Marley says with a grin. "Just state your name and the position your trying out for if your trying out. Current players can have some practice and help those who are trying out" Marley instructs with a grin. She then pulls out a whistle and blows it. "Alright! Gimme your best shot!"

Welcome to Hufflepuff Quidditch tryouts!

Returning players just need to post if they want to keep their spots! Alternates will need to tryout again! Otherwise, feel free to try out

First years will need to PM me if they would like to tryout! We can discuss if or when you can tryout!

Good luck!

Callie arrived at the pitch ready for this last year of quidditch for her. She had enjoyed it, but didn't think she'd do it beyond school, but that didn't stop her being eager for it. She waved to Marley and then got up into the air the moment she could.

Henri stepped on to the pitch and did immediately trip over his own feet as he approached the crowd of other people. He had been very interested in quidditch recently and had decided he wanted to at the very least give it a go at playing. He'd studied everything he needed to - surely he could play....it couldn't be that difficult to translate. Henri waited till the girl, Marley she said she was called began the try-out. He stepped forward. "henri, and chaser?" he phrased it a little like a question before nodding.

He got on the broom and shot up into the air. Henri had flown before, he could fly easily, but he wasn't that good at it. He certainly wasn't going as fast as others were and he was a little less deft at dodging around, but he had studied it, he had studied the moves, the history of the position, he could do this. Henri managed to get the ball a couple of times, his shots varied between being pretty wide and getting close. He didn't fall from the broom, but he certainly slipped a couple of times. Henri managed to score once in the whole try-out and was veryy very pleased with this fact. He touched back down on the ground and was feeling pretty good about how he'd done, feeling like he had managed it just fine.

Sofi had been alt seeker ever since her second year, quietly waiting on the sidelines, training and preparing for her turn to play on the starting lineup. She was excited about today as Bailey had now graduated and the seeker position was open for the first time ever. It felt like all of her hard work and training had been leading to this moment where she could prove that she wanted this and was finally ready to play as the starting Hufflepuff seeker. She listened to Marley and waited her turn to tryout, "Sofi Ayre, trying out for seeker." Sofi told her, then mounted her broom and began her search. Five minutes in she started to panic a little that she still hadn't seen the snitch. She kept looking though and took some deep breaths to keep her head in the tryouts.

Finally, just as she started to think she had blown her chance, she spotted the snitch hovering close to the south hoops. Sofi narrowed her eyes and lent forward, shooting off towards it. She knew what she had to do, reaching out and plucking the snitch from the air. She was so happy and relieved that she had done it. She cheered, holding up the snitch so Marley could see that she'd done it.

Doyle was excited to start a new quidditch season. He had liked it more than he expected last year and was hoping to make it again. With his broom in hand he smiled at Marley and gave her a quick nod. "Doyle Mooney, trying out for keeper again." he said before taking to the air and going to the side of the pitch opposite Callie. He took a deep breath and got ready for the chasers to try and take off his head. But as try outs went on his reflexes came back to him and he blocked a lot of the shots made against him but he miss several too. He was happy to see Henri trying out and even clapped when the other boy managed to get a quaffle by him. By the end Doyle was sweaty and sore and ready for a break but he also felt good about his performance.

Dominic was keen for another year of Quidditch. He had practiced as much as he could during his break and was ready to take on anything. He made his way to the tryouts with his broom in hand, and beamed at all of the new faces as Marley spoke to the crowd. As they began stepping forward to apply, Dominic headed straight into the air and felt the need to test those trying out for alternate keeper, making some good shots. Marley definitely was going to have a tough choice and he was glad that her wasn't in her shoes.

After having a pretty good break, Jonah was ready for the new school year. They were going to have a whole new lineup this year which was exciting. He gave the captain a wave and proceeded to help with try outs as much as he could.

Nox would miss Bailey, but he figured it would make it easier for him to make a name for himself on the team without his sister looming over him like a shadow.

Once the try-outs got started and it was Nox’s turn to try-out, he stepped forward and cleared his throat. “Nox Walden-Cade, trying out for Beater,” He smiled at Marley and was glad to see that she was now the sole captain, Bailey had made the right choice not to appoint another co-captain. Marley was more than capable to do it on her own. Once he got the go ahead he climbed onto his broom and took to the air. It was difficult as a beater because all he could do was sit and wait for bludgers to come to him, or for him to spot them and go after them. He spotted one going after Sofi the girl trying out for seeker so he leaned forward on his broom and shot forward to get between the bludger and her, swung his bat and collided with the bludger sending it flying off away from her. He continued flying around hitting bludgers away from other members of the team, hoping he'd done enough to get back on the team.

Once Nox was finished he returned to the ground and dismounted his broom, thanked Marley and left the pitch. He was nervous to find out his fate but he was pretty happy with how he did.

Susie stifled a yawn in her elbow as she made her way down to the pitch. Tryouts were usually one of her favorite events, but all she wanted to do this morning was climb back into bed. Her head was aching and there was an odd pain in her stomach. Still, the fresh air would probably make her feel better, she told herself as she mounted her broom. Or failing that, whacking a few bludgers at people would definitely help.

This was, without a doubt, a terrible idea. Jono couldn't even get on a horse for fear of falling off and he'd somehow managed to talk himself into getting a broom instead? Maybe he wasn't that desperate for friends after all. If this didn't go well, the only friend he'd be making was with the ground.

Still, he could see Henri and Doyle already stepping up for their try-outs and they didn't seem worried at all. Maybe Jono would get lucky and get a spot on the bench where he could be on the team and never have to be in the air. Yeah. That sounded perfect.

"Jono- Uh. Jonathan Boot. Seeker," he said, stepping up to swing a leg over his broom. He'd gotten some practice in with one of the school brooms, relieved they weren't as fast as some of the ones the current players had, though it did mean his descent into the air as he kicked off was all that more agonizing. Seeker had seemed the safest bet on the ground; no bat to hold, no ball to pass or catch throws, no difficult rules to learn. He could just fly around and look. Jono was great at looking.

He wasn't the most impressive sight out there, putting around on his broom, but he was very focused. So focused he entirely missed the other girl trying out for seeker had already caught the snitch until she was cheering. Hm. Jono kept flying, hoping to get another chance. He wasn't fast, but his reflects were solid. Sure, when he finally did catch the thing it was because it'd practically flown right past his head, but he'd still grabbed it, and without falling off, so Jono was counting it as a win, glad to be off the bloody broom already.

last call! try outs close in approximately 24 hours!

Mary Paige wasn't athletic, or at least, she wouldn't call herself that, as she had never played a sport. It wasn't something that had interested her growing up, but she was a decent Quidditch fan and knew how to fly on a broom. She had toyed with the idea of trying out, even though there wasn't a guarantee of her making the team, and with some support from her parents, she had decided that she wouldn't lose anything with trying out, right?

One of the last to go, Mary Paige gave Marley a big smile and spoke with confidence. "Hi, I'm Mary Paige Triss, and I'm trying out for seeker." She had thought about the other positions, but this seemed like a good fit for her. A solo activity on a team, even though it was probably the highest-pressure position. The Hufflepuff jumped on her broom and hovered for a while, keeping an eye out for the snitch. She didn't see it for a while and decided to change her strategy, moving around the field at a slower pace so she wouldn't miss it. Mary Paige then saw the classic glint of gold out of the corner of her eye and sped up, hoping it wasn't a trick of the light. And it wasn't. The third year sped up even more, leaning forward on her broom with left arm outstretched to try and grasp her fingers around the gold ball. She reached for it feel her fingertips touch it twice before she managed to fully contain the snitch within her hand. Giggling with glee, she held up her hand and made sure the captain saw her successfully get the snitch with ease. It had not been that crazy of a catch, but it was still a catch in the end. She hoped it was enough to show she her desire to be on the team.
