Quiet, thoughtful, but rare to take action, Jono is more of a follower and a watcher. He has a very strict idea of what he's supposed to do and say and like, mostly modeled off of his family and his brother in specific. He doesn't function well when he's forced to examine or act outside of these set parameters and tends to clam up or shut down if someone tries to make him. His own wants and ideas are scary and unobtainable so Jono prefers to ignore them.
Deep down, Jono wants to be noticed and praised and do well, like his brother does. He wants to succeed and do his own thing but is scared to take those steps because it would require taking risks and possibly disappointing people, which he cannot handle. Instead, Jono resigns himself to sitting quietly on the sidelines and wishing that were him as he watches others do what they want.

Jono grew up as the youngest of two boys in the Boot family, a typical farming family in Tieri, in the South Island of Aotearoa, New Zealand. His entire family life centered on the family farm, Jono was perfectly content with his life, helping his parents with the sheep and cattle, messing around in the paddocks, and looking up to his older brother.
Rural farm boy from a muggle family, Jono has been perfectly content with how his life was supposed to go; do his chores, look after the animals, hang out with his brother and his mates, repeat until he grows up etc. His brother Trevvo being a wizard never factored into that, nor did Jono also being one.
Having magic was something his brother had that made Trevvo all the more amazing and fantastic. Jono having magic felt like a mistake, and Jono's not sure he'll ever fit into this new, exciting and terrifying world, whether he wants to or not. Jono's never been good at facing things that scare him, but it seems with his time at Hogwarts coming up, Jono doesn't have much choice in the matter.
In 2060, Jono's brother, Trevor, left for Hogwarts NZ and was sorted into Hufflepuff and in 2062, Jono joined him both at the same school and in the same house.
