Logan had just spent some time on the Quidditch pitch, practicing. He wanted to be ready for the Slytherin tryouts no matter what He needed to make the team this year. Not making it as a first year was acceptable, but as a second year it definitely wasn't. After training for a bit, he realized it would be easier to just fly back to the castle, rather than walk with his broom. So Logan had started floating back at a leisurely pace, flying past trees and startling a few birds. As he flew over the lawn, he leaned down a bit to look at all the people below. He grinned when he spotted a familiar girl and slowly floated down a bit. He liked Mania, she was fun. He suddenly had the urge to scare her a bit, it'd be funny. As quietly as he could, Logan floated down a bit more and then leaned down so he was right above her head. "Boo!"

Mania was walking on the lawn, enjoying a perfectly nice day, she was in a good mood too when suddenly there was a shadow above her. She thought maybe someone's owl was returning from delivering a letter to family? Not such a crazy idea given it was the first few weeks of school anyways. She focused back on walking when suddenly there was a voice next to her and it was all she could do not to smack the boy. Her hazel eyes widened and she clutched her chest letting out a scream, a little delayed that is but who was going to judge her now.

"Merlin, some warning would be nice!" She huffed out once she finally got control of her heartbeat again and shoved Logan's arm lightly. He was fun and nice and not that bad to look at either. Though somewhere within the last 6 months or so Nia had begun noticing boys, and girls every now and then, in a completely different light. The Gryffindor grinned at the boy before asking the question at hand. "What are you doing anyways flying? Floating around to scare innocent students on their lovely afternoon walks?" She joked a bit, but raised a brow indicating she wanted to know what he'd been up to. What? A girl could be nosy.

Logan laughed, delighted at the little scream Mania let out. He slumped down on his broom a bit as he laughed, though he made sure to hold on tight. "That was hilarious." He said between bursts of laughter. "And a warning would've ruined it, obviously." He grinned down at her teasingly. He sat up on his broom a bit again as she asked what he was doing. "Maybe I just felt like flying around." He said, though it wasn't really the truth.

Mania gave a quick roll of her eyes and let out a small laugh. "Yeah maybe so," She admitted, scaring people around could be quite fun, unless it was your grandma with a bad heart, then you shouldn't be doing that. "Yeah? I suppose flying is rather nice." She admitted, though much like almost every other subject she'd had little success on her flying classes. "How was your break? Do anything interesting?" Mania asked giving Logan her full attention, though it was rather annoying having to crane her neck to look up at him on that broom. "Alright get down before I get a neck cramp from simply trying to look at your pretty face." Nia gave a toothy grin to accompany her request, or more like a demand because her neck was already feeling strained.

Logan nodded. "And tryouts are soon, I was doing some practice." He admitted. It was basically all he thought about at the moment, he honestly didn't know what to do with himself if he didn't make the team. He shrugged at her question. "The usual. You?" He hadn't actually done anything that interesting, just spent most of the break outside running around as usual. "Fine, hold on." He added when she asked him to come down. He grabbed the broom with both hands and then swung down so he was hanging from it. He meant for it to go smoothly and make a cool landing, but he let go a little too soon and stumbled after dropping to the ground. He righted himself before he could fully fall over, and grinned quickly. "Totally meant to do that." He said quickly as he grabbed the broom that was still hovering in the air.

Mania arched a brow, aha so he had a purpose to be flying around then! "I see, you want to get into the Quidditch team then?" She asked curiously, already assuming the answer was a yes because why else would he be getting practice in. "Yeah the usual for me too!" She said not feeling like going into greater detail about all the family drama she'd had this summer, it was best not speak about her family least of all parents to anyone. Nia watched as the Slytherin tried to make a smooth landing but instead he looked kind of like a sloth who woke up from a nap, forgot he was a sloth and let go. Letting out a small giggle she raised her brows and patted Logan on the shoulder, "Sure sure, whatever makes you sleep better at night!" She quipped grinning again.

Logan nodded when she asked about the Quidditch team. He was trying to go for a casual nod, but it was hard to be casual about Quidditch. "Yeah, I'm going to make the team this time. For sure." He said confidently. "When I make it, you gotta watch me play." He told her with a grin. He laughed a little uneasily as she joked about his not-so-smooth move, trying to move on from it. "Are you in any clubs or whatever?" He asked her with a shrug. Not that Quidditch was comparable to a club, but it was nice to ask her about something, right?

Mania nodded enthusiastically, "Oh I'm sure you'll make it and absolutely! Once you are in the team I'll watch the games, I'll even cheer for you! Unless of course you are against Gryffindor then MAYYYBE my loyalties lie with my own house but you know, I'll still be cheering!" She explained, though then again none of her friends were currently in the Gryffindor team and she didn't really care for the sport annnd they'd just won big time on it last year so maybe she could get away with cheering for another house? "Yeah, I'm in the Heta Omega, I think this year I'll also join the SDA and also maybe the arts club thing?" Mania responded to the question with a smile, "Oh and I joined this unofficial pep club thing, it's like cheerleading or something? I don't know but we go to the Quidditch matches and cheer for both teams, it's kinda fun!" She explained to the best of her ability, "How about you? Are you in any clubs?" Nia returned the question, looking towards Logan with keen interest.

Logan grinned as Nia said she'd watch his games and even cheer for him. It was a great thought, and it just made him want to make the team even more badly. He nodded as she said she was in Heta Omega, though he didn't quite get why she wanted to join two more clubs. They weren't that great in his opinion. "My sister's in the art one, I think." He commented with a slight frown. "And I'm in the brotherood." He said, without too much enthusiasm. "You must like a lot of things, if you're in that many clubs." He couldn't imagine wanting to cheer for Quidditch, but he supposed it was more of a girl thing anyway.

Mania gave a soft laugh at Logan's expression and lack of enthusiasm. "Yep I like to try out most things, plus I can just leave the clubs later can't I?" Surely nobody would stop her from stomping out the club, just overline her name or whatever. "I just want to experience as much as I can and try everything before saying no. You never know what you might like, the world is full of surprises." Life was too, she hadn't known how much she'd love snakes until she met Pim before her first year. "You don't like a lot of things then, judging by if you aren't in a lot of clubs and me being in a lot means I must like a lot of things?" She raised a questioning brow at the boy this time.

Logan nodded as Nia said she could just leave clubs later, it honestly hadn't been something he had ever considered. He had joined the brotherhood because it seemed like the thing to do, though he had to admit he did like it. "I already know I won't like digging around in the dirt or playing with paint, but you do you." He said lightly. At her assessment of him, he laughed a little. "Guess not, I'd be in a Quidditch club if there was one. I'm hoping to get on the team. But yeah, Quidditch is kind of it." He admitted.

Mania laughed at Logan's statement, yeah that was fair it wasn't for everyone. "Oh! Don't worry, I will keep doing me, it's pretty awesome... most of the time." She said with a big grin and then shook her head when he admitted quidditch was pretty much the only thing for him. Nia reached up to pat the boy on the shoulder. "Isn't that a bit boring? If you don't really like anything but Quidditch?" She asked, frowning a bit.

Logan didn't mind the pat on the shoulder, though it made him realize how short Nia was. Her words were a bit frustrating though, and he quickly shook his head. "It's not boring at all. You can play it, but also follow games. I listen to every Macaw game on the radio whenever I can. I've even been to a few." He told her. "And I like to do other stuff, like other sports and flying and stuff. It's fine, not everyone needs ten million hobbies." He said, then quickly smiled in case that had come across as rude. "My sister's into all the artistic stuff, I just don't think it's for me."

Mania listened to Logan's reasoning, he did have a point. "Yeahh I suppose, my dad is big on Quidditch. Talks to whoever wants to listen to it and has taken a few of my sisters to a game or two before." She said with a shrug. The comment about not needing to have a million hobbies made Nia narrow her eyes momentarily before giving another shrug. "I don't have a million hobbies, I just am trying to figure out what I like and who I am beyond ',enace' as my family so lovingly calls me." Mania turned her face away for a bit, feeling like she had said too much now. It wasn't that the menace part was a secret she just hadn't admitted yet out loud that she was trying out so many things because she wanted to figure herself out more. "Yeah we all have our own things, though I think that's what makes knowing others so interesting. You learn about their interests as well and if you get to the team then I have a friend to support at a game too!" The Gryffindor's grin returned as she turned to look back at the boy.
