Bruin strolled onto the field with clipboard in hand, prepared to make some notes on the Cubs who would be trying out for the Gryffindor Team. Bruin had already seen most of the interested Gryffindors in an exhibition game and a few other practices, but wanted to be fair and give each one an opportunity to show their stuff. Bruin had attempted to captain a host of different teams with mixed results, but couldn't help but feel optimistic about this group despite previous disappointments and setbacks. He sat down on a bench and waited for the others to show up.

(Out of Character - Ideally I'd like to see you indicate what position you are trying out for and how you would use the posting format that is used in games. See the Quidditch Rules if you are unsure. Your try-out can certainly be longer than this, but whatever works for you...don't kill yourself writing pages and pages.)

Team: Gryffindor
Postion: Beater
Quidditch Points: 200
Starting Location: NE

Bruin spotted an oncoming bludger and noticed out of the corner of his eye that the opposing team's Seeker had her back to him nearby (in NW). Bruin brought his beater's bat to shoulder level, flew directly at the oncoming bludger and struck it directly at the Seeker's back following the bludger towards its intended target.

Action Taken: Hit bludger
Points used: 10 points
Points remaining: 190 points
Finishing Location: NW

Kiera walked down to the pitch. It was a rather chilly day so she wore a house sweater along with a pair of jeans. She brought her broom with her. Bruin had told Hilary and her that they didnt have to try out. She just wanted to watch the different students tryout. Kiera had only brought her broom to be on the safe side. She didnt want to walk all the way back to the castle if she needed it.

Kiera walked out onto the pitch and saw Bruin sitting down ready to take notes on the tryouts. Kiera skipped over to him with a goofy smile. She was trying to make him laugh. She reached where he was sitting and sat down herself. "Hey Bru!" she said with a smile.

(Yes and no Ellie... this try-out is for first years and anyone else in 2nd to 4th year who hasn't really played much Quidditch over the past few years.)

Bruin returned Kiera's smile. "Hey yourself! Just thought you'd come down and support the others, I suppose?" Bruin had grown to appreciate Kiera's friendly nature and spirit for all things Gryffindor and knew that she wouldn't miss this opportunity. He was glad to see her.

Ellie walked out onto the quidditch pitch with her broom in her hand, it was quite a cold day, but Ellie didnt mind and hadnt bothered to put a cloak on, she was wearing a red polo neck jumper, jeans and her trainers. Her hair blowing wildly in the breeze.
"Hi" She said, walking up to Bruin and Keira, "Great day for flying."

Harri walked out onto the quiditch pitch. She was still using a school broom as they weren't allowed to go to obsidian harbour but she planned to get a broom as soon as the holidays began. She was dressed simply in a red jumper, jeans and trainers. She was glad she had arrived to the try-outs early and walked over to say hello to Bruin, Kiera and Ellie "Hi guys!" she said cheerily and smiled. "How are we all?" she asked.

"Hey Harri" Ellie said, smiling as one of her best friends joined them. "Im good, yourself.?" She asked Harri and waited for the others to reply.

Cyndi nervously walked down to the pitch. Even though they had played an exhibition game and Cyndi thought she did well, she was still nervous to do her official tryout today. As she neared the pitch, she saw that Bruin and Kiera were there to watch as well as a few other Gryffindors. She put on her best smile and waved to everyone even though her stomach was in knots. "Hi everyone!" Then she waited to see who would begin the tryouts.

Kat made her way down to the pitch in a little more than a sprint. She couldn't wait for the tryouts today and was really hoping that house teams would work out this year. She saw that there were already people there, standing and waiting. She walked over to Kiera and Bruin and said with a big grin, "Hey you guys!! You ready for this?"

Kera walked down to the patch. Her Broom in hand and there wasn't time to mess around in her mind. She walked onto the field not nervous but more, How could she put it, Excited. In her mind there was no "trying" to make the team. It was either give it your all or go home, and Kera was gonna give it her all. As she walked She held her head up and continued to have confidence. She wasn't the one to mess around in sports she played, but she always had fun. Kera sighed she walked up to the others and stood quietly. Finally she decided to speak "Hey you guys" Kera's voice was soft but could be herd perfectly. She was ready to get this going. She had to make the team, no one in her family before had ever tried to make the team they always worked and worked on schooling but Kera didn't ever seem to do well in schooling, she hated most of the classes, not the teachers, just the subject so Kera had to do something else to get her mind off of the one thing that she had been concentrating on most now that she arrived at Hogwarts, her mother. And Kera didn't know what else to do but Quidditch seem to keep her mind in the game and busy from the questions of the woman she never got to know.

Kera looked up to Bruin "Hey Bruin" Kera smiled lightly trying to contain her excitement she just wanted to hear her name called and if she didn't, Well kera tried not to think about that and figured she would cross that bridge if it came.

Mike wandered down to the Quidditch Pitch, Mike was nervous about today, as there would be try outs. Mike saw that a few others were there including Kera and Bruin and Keira."Hey Guys"said Mike, nervoulsy.

At first Amy hadn't been too sure about trying out for the team. She had see the others fly previously and knew that they were all of a really really really good standard, she wasn't sure if there was room for competition, least from her.
However that morning she had gotten up early, wondering if she should at least give it a go. She decided to take herself to breakfast very early, and there was no-one down there when she got there. It looked to be one of the few days without rain and wanted to go out.
Knowing she couldn't go out and not see the others flying, trying out for the team, she decided that she may as well give it a shot, try her best. Ambling up to the dormitory she grabbed her Firebolt and slowly headed back down stairs. She thought it was still relatively early, although she wouldn't have known as she had no watch.
When she reached the Entrance Hall she stopped, thinking maybe she should turn back, she didn't want to embaress herself in front of the others. She then begun to turn round and head back up the stairs when she once again stopped. Come on Amy, it's just a bit of fun she thought to herself, and finally, walked firmly out of the doors, into the wind day.
She was glad of the fresh air and as she approached the Quidditch Pitch she saw that there were already a few people there. She slowed her pace down as she approached, the wind playing with her hair. She shivered slightly, pulling down the sleeves of her green jumper, as she finally joined the group. "Morning" she said, a little nervously, grabbing onto the handle of her broom quite tightly.

"Hey Amy, Hey cindy" Ellie said, smiling as they joined them. "How are yous this morning?" she asked them, wondering if they were as excited about this as her.
Ellie had been wanting to try out all year. Se wasnt that good at Quidditch but she was going to give it her all!

"Of course! I wouldnt miss this! It helps to have a friendly face especially if they are nervous." Kiera said brightly to Bruin. She would support her housemates as much as she could.

All of a sudden her teammates started pouring into the pitch. Kiera smiled happily at them all. She couldnt wait to watch them tryout. "Hey yall!" she said as different people addressed her. There was only one face she didnt reconginze.

Mike saw Keira and walked on over to her "Hey Keira, you alright?" asked Mike.

Kera walked over to mike. "Hey" Kera didn't know anyone else besides Kiera, who had the same name as her just spelled differently, Bruin, who probably didn't know her name and Mike, who she knew..rather well.

Andromeda knew she was going to be late but ran as fast as she could anyway to the pitch. She saw everyone else there before her and grimaced. Someday she would definitly be on time she told herself. She also noted how some were in just jeans and sweaters and reminded herself that next time she wouldn't come such an eager beaver in her tracksuit and trainers.
Andromeda had her broom clenched tightly in her hand as she pulled up beside the Gryffindors, delighted to see that Amy was there.
"Hey guys!" she smiled at them waving her hand in the air, she knew she probably looked a state, her hair was so unbrushed just pulled back tightly into a pony tail, her skin still had the greyish sheen to it and she now had permanent bags under her eyes.

No matter how blah she felt though, she was ready and geared up for action.
"So when do we kick off?" she gushed.

Hilary decided to go down to the pitch just to see the others fly and try out. Bouncing out of the door she noticed that she was going to be late so she jumped onto her broom and quickly flew over to the pitch.

"BOO!" she screamed as she slid into the group from behind and pulled the breaks on fast right behind Bruin. "Great day for it Capt'n" she said with a smile just floating there. "DO you need any help running tryouts Bruin?" she continued.

Bruin couldn't help but smile with the sheer numbers and enthusiasm of this year's crop of Quidditch talent. He noticed that they were all looking at him expectantly and wondered just how to conduct the try-outs fairly. "Alright, anyone interested in trying out for Chaser or Keeper head out to the north end of the pitch. Chasers can take turns passing the Quaffle around and trying to score on the Keepers.". Bruin tossed a Quaffle to the most eager looking player and watched a few players mount their brooms.

"Anyone interested in trying out for Beater or Seeker can head up to the South End of the Pitch. I'll release the Snitch and a Bludger shortly and you can practice down there. Any questions?", he asked, hoping that his instructions were clear. Bruin turned to Hilary and Kiera. "Hilary, could you keep an eye on the Beaters and Seekers? Kiera, could you do the same for the Chasers and Keepers? I'd really like your input on who you think looks good."

Kiera listened to Bruin's instructions of the tryouters. After he was done with them he asked her and Hilary to help. Kiera grinned at Bruin. "No problem Sarge. Good thing I brought my broom!" she said enthusiastically. She turned to Hilary and whispered, "This will be fun!" Then she picked up her broom. Kiera mounted it and kicked hard off the ground. Bruin threw the Quaffle to Kera. Grabbing it she smiled lightly. She walked rather quickly as she got to the NW quadrant she hoped on her broom hovering. She flew around a bit with the quaffle waiting for others to join her. She threw it to the first person up who then threw it back to her. Kera smiled lightly waiting for someone else to throw it too. She was tossing it between her and another girl who where just messing around waiting for keepers and other Chasers to join them.

Andromeda smiled as she listened to the game plan from Bruin, she had wanted to try out for chaser but also for keeper. She thought to first try out for keeper though and see how that one worked out for her. Knowing especially that she had let a goal in on their exhibition game, she wasn't sure if anyone would really want her in that position.
Andromeda straddled her broom and flew down to the hoops on the North Scoring Area.
"Kiera I'll head into keeper position first ok?" she called, watching as Kera passed the quaffle to another would be chaser. Her arm tingled in remembrance of the last game but she shook her head and readied herself for the play. Andromeda hovered infront of the hoops waiting for the chasers to make their play.
