There was a feeling in Ivy's stomach somewhere between nerves and excitement. She had been so excited when Teddy had approached her by the lake last year. She had spent the break reading up on quidditch tactics. She wanted to do well in this position. It wasn't often shegot to be the first in her family to do something or achieve something so she was goign to do hervery best to prove herself better at this than all her siblings and even her mum.
Today was a drizzly late winter day and Ivy was ssanding on the edge of the quidditch pitch a whistle in one hand a clipboard in the other and her broom propped against the stands behind her. she had advertised that the tryouts were on and she hoped that people would show up and face the weather. If they were not willing to try out in a bit of drizzle then they probably shouldnt be on the team.
Soon people started to show up and once the time she had posted arrived she blew the whistle. "Goodmornign Gryffindors. Welcome to this years quidditch try outs. For those who are new I am Ivy Cullen and am your captain this year." she said. She really hadnt thought of what to say and was starting to regret how she had started. "This year we only have one perminant position open on the team, the keeper, but we will also be looking for three alternatives, and alternatives youare still valid members of the team. and we couldnt fuction without you." she said. "as is custom all of our perminant players are guarenteed their spot back so long as they are here today." she said before turning towards where a small group of them seemd to have ben congrigated. "though i do hope that you will help out if needed, even if just so youcan get a bit of extra practice in" she looked back at the group at large. "Please can you introduce yourself your year and the position you are trying for. then take to the air. once i blow my whistle i would like to see two laps. one as fast as you can. and one with one hand off the broom either holding a quaffle or a bat as no matter what position you are in you are goign to need to be able to fly one or no handed" she said. "and then we will have a bit of a fly around keepersquard the goals, if you need ot devide the hoops between you that is fin, Chasers try and score goals, seekers try and catch the snitch, and beaters, try and keep everyone safe" she said. "So if you are ready to join the pride of gryffindor? Let's go," she said, starting to write names down. once that was dont she took to the air clipboard in hand as she tried to watch the try outs and see what people were up to.

Felix had been buzzing for Quidditch, and was delighted to hear that Teddy had made Ivy Captain. He would miss his hair buddy, but he imagined he'd get to see Teddy every now and then outside of school. In the meantime however he was pleased to see Ivy lead, given she'd been such a prominent member of the team. "Hey, glad to see it's you up there" he grinned at the older girl once she'd finished explaining to the crowd the plan. Felix had been trying out since his first year, and had been an alternate since his second, however he wasn't going to let anyone forget in a hurry that it was his catch last year that had scored them the Quidditch Cup.

"Felix Layton, here to keep my spot on the team as a Seeker," if he had to remain as an alternate then so be it, but he was secretly hoping to be made permanent. It would be a while before Aroha graduated, but there was a small chance every year that she no longer felt like playing, and Felix held on to that with hope. He grabbed his broom and shot off into the air, remembering the way he'd done well last year when he hadn't stressed himself out by searching too hard. The fifth year was quite sure that the snitch knew when it was being watched, and was much more likely to reveal itself when it thought it wasn't been actively hunted down.

The blonde spent most of the try out session trying to keep the rain out of his eyes, and by the time it was over his hair was plastered to his face. Even so, he managed to catch the snitch no less than four times in the period they had to prove themselves. It was still less than he'd caught it during their last practice session, but he liked to think it at least made a good impression on the new Captain. Felix hung around in the air once he was finished, keeping an eye out for any other (especially younger) hopeful seekers, in case they wanted some pointers.

Miles wasn't surprised when he showed up to tryouts and saw that Ivy had been named the new captain of the team. He supposed it made sense. "Ready to make it four years in a row, cap?" He grinned at the slightly older girl as he grabbed his broom. He was eager to see who was going to show up, taking to the air and trying to help all the new players where he could.

Tessaria was more than ready for this year's try out. Every other try out's result had ended in tears, but this one felt different. She was positive that she was going to be able to do it. She had done nothing but practice during the break and her father had even bought her a broom of her own. She didn't want to waste the gift and let him down.

Promptly, Tess made her way to the quidditch pitch with her new broom in hand and a determined look on her face. As the captain briefed them, Tess soon realised that try outs were going to be a bit different this year. Additionally, the weather wasn't great and she knew she was going to be saturated by the end. She tried not to let this deter her however. She was a good player and all she had to do was just prove it to the captain.

When instructed, Tess lined up with the others that were trying out. When it was her turn, she smiled at the captain before speaking. "My name is Tess Carter. I'm willing to play any position you'd let me. Preferably beater or keeper. But I'd be really happy for chaser, or just anything you can do. Please." Tess tried not to appear desperate, but she couldn't help herself. There was desperation in her eyes that she just couldn't hide.

The teen then mounted her broom with everyone else before following the captain's direction. Once the whistle had been blown, she flew a fast lap around the pitch. She wasn't the fastest, but she also didn't want to push too hard and embarrass herself. Speed wasn't needed for every position at least. She then held a bat in her right hand as she did another lap. She was very steady on the broom, despite using one hand. She felt really comfortable with the bat.

Following this, Tess attempted to shoot some goals. The keeper was good, but Tess still managed to get a few through and played relatively well compared to the others. She also switched over to the beater position, keen to show off her talent there. She didn't miss a single bludger that came her way. She showed off her talent as keeper as well, catching most, if not all, of the shots that were made. Even though she was comfortable with the bat, she felt really comfortable at the hoops as well. She was sure she was going to finally get a position on the team. She just had to.

Eventually the try outs were over and Tess took a deep breath as she de mounted her broom and headed back to the castle, looking similar to a drenched rat. At least the rain did not stop her from playing her best. She just had to stay positive for the next few days as she waited to hear the news.

A little drizzle wasn't going to bother Kaysi. She refused to allow it. The third year arrived to the pitch with her hair in a tight ponytail, broom in hand, and slightly more confident than she had been the previous tryouts. Having been an alternate once, the young girl was hopeful she could make it on to the team as an alternate once again. She knew there was almost no chance of being a starter, the team's beaters were much older than her and had been on the team for years.

Stepping towards the center of the pitch, Kaysi only slipped in the wet grass once. She spotted Ivy Cullen addressing the group. She was a good choice for captain. Kaysi always noticed her having an encouraging word for a team member. As soon as it was time, Kaysi smiled in spite of the butterflies overtaking her stomach. "Kaysi Zhefarovich, former alternate beater and planning to return to that spot." She wasn't sure where that bit of boldness had come from but she liked it. The young girl turned swiftly, her ponytail swinging accordingly.

Mounting her broom, she was soon in the air, bat in hand. The girl immediately zoomed towards a bludger and took a swing. She hit it with a satisfying crack and watched even more satisfied when it hit a student trying out. The young girl continued to fly about, taking it just as seriously as she could. All total, the young girl hit 7 bludgers and they connected 5 times. As she landed at the end of tryouts, the girl was confident that she'd shown off not only her Beater skills but her flying skills. Yes, she'd nearly crashed into a teammate when she had been so focused on reaching a bludger. But she hadn't actually crashed them.

The young girl headed away from the pitch, eager to get into dry clothes.

William made his way out onto the pitch for the new years tryouts. As a member of the team he wouldn't need to tryout, but he would get involved and help out where needed. He grabbed his broom and got involved as the tryouts unfolded.

Laura had hated flying at first. Well, to say she hated flying would be inaccurate; she had always wanted to fly, but hated that she didn't seem to grasp how wizards did it. She couldn't say she'd been that fond of Quidditch at first, either. It was vastly inferior to footy, or to rugby or soccer or cricket or even netball. But she had watched a few games and started to see the appeal (even if the fact remained it would never be better than footy). Once she'd got her head around the broom, too, she found she rather liked flying after all.

Laura knew, realistically, she had very little chance of actually making the Quidditch team. She was determined to at least try, because she really did want to play a team sport again with how much she missed her footy team back home. She was at least fairly certain she could bring some different skills to the table that might keep Gryffindor victorious. Sure, kicking goals wasn't a thing in Quidditch, and tackling wasn't necessarily encouraged as much as it was in footy, but you never knew.

"Hi, I'm Laura," she said with a small wave, clutching a school broom. Her aunt was never going to take her broom shopping, just looking at brooms seemed to make her nauseous. "Ideally I'd like to try out for center half forward, but since that's not on the table I'll go with chaser." She wasn't sure if Ivy would have any idea what she was talking about. Nobody here really seemed to, as much as she was at least humoured at times. She mounted her broom and took off to the sky, keeping up with the laps and finding it pretty easy to move with a quaffle in hand. At least she was used to running with the footy (even if she did by instinct go to bounce the quaffle in mid air at one point before quickly catching it with mild embarrassment). Once she got up to the proper flying, almost immediately was hit by a bludger. Not as bad as getting tackled by smelly Shelley, Laura thought with amusement.

Throwing goals was a little bit harder, as she was much more used to kicking. She could score a bit in netball, but that was more of a vertical than a horizontal through. After a couple of failed attempts she sighed and gave the quaffle a drop punt. It was a little hampered by the fact she wasn't standing on the ground and still needed to stay upright on the broom, but it worked far better than her throwing and resulted in the ball travelling through the hoops. She wasn't sure if that was against the rules or not, but wizards made up plenty of silly rules, so said her aunt. She hadn't been her team's leading goal kicker three years running for nothing, and Gryffindor would be missing out if they didn't use that, Laura thought quite smugly.

Aroha stepped onto the pitch with broom in hand, ready to play once more. It'd be her last year and she was determined to make the most of it. Impress people, but more importantly, impress herself, and show herself to be the best she could be. If she wanted quidditch to be her future, she'd really have to step up her game. She was a bit gutted to not be chosen for the quidditch team leader, but Ivy was a solid choice.

Aroha flew, keeping an eye on Felix. He was a good player, if she was being honest. He'd grown - probably like how she'd grown too - she just wished it wasn't raining. She kept up, doing her best, and when the time elapsed, she returned for a hot shower at the dorms.

AJ hoped that he had slightly better chances of making the team this year, though he did also know the Gryffindor team was often popular and always full. He hoped he would snag a spot as an alternate, that would be the dream. He wanted to be like his dad, and his dad had been a beater on the Gryffindor team. Not making the team at all would feel like a failure.

"AJ Carpenter, trying out for beater." He said as it was his turn. He flew up into the air and slowly circled the pitch. He spotted a bludger and started to follow it, trying to get close enough for a solid hit. He eventually managed to hit it and was glad to see he hit another student, even if he felt a little guilty about it too. His next attempt unfortunately failed, but before the tryouts were over, AJ had managed to hit three more students and had blocked a few bludgers from hitting others. He felt like he had done well, but he hoped it was good enough.

Fiona couldnt believe she was in her seventh year. Her final year at Hogwarts. She knew she had to make her final year worth it but she wasn’t sure what to do to make her final year feel special either. But she knew she liked Quidditch and she had to stick with that. Once Ivy had said what she needed to say, they were off into the sky and it wasn’t long before Fiona herself was in the sky. She managed to help out those who were trying out for beater as well as getting a few practices of hits and blocking herself.
