Why Sayuri had to actually sit through Muggle Studies instead of just testing out of it was beyond her. It was annoying that Muggle Studies was one of the classes that she needed for some of the careers in the Ministry and it wasn't even really that related to muggles. She loved her dad, but getting into Muggle Worthy Excuse or Muggle Artifacts just wasn't something she wanted to do at all. That was her dad's thing, and she already had too many siblings to be compared to; she didn't want to be compared to her parents on top of that. Still, these were things she already knew. Okay, maybe not all of it since she was more familiar with Japanese muggle life but they can't be that different! Which is why she was now glaring at this piece of parchment because what kind of homework was first interaction with something muggle related? How was she supposed to remember something like that?! She swears that if her father ever made her do homework like this, she was dropping out of his class - OWLs or not. "What is he expecting muggle-borns to put? Coming out of the womb? Ridiculous," she grumbled as she continued to glare at her parchment.

Sybil was excited to be back at Hogwarts and was already eagerly throwing herself into her studies. She still had some readings to catch up on so she decided skip lunch but made sure to grab an apple from the great hall before heading to the courtyard where it was a bit quieter. She looked around for a place to sit and noticed Sayuri all by herself. Her roommate hadn't been the easiest to get to know but Sybil always tried to be friendly whenever their paths crossed which was quite a lot. She considered leaving her alone since she seemed fixated on whatever assignment was in her hand but in the end she couldn't pass up an opportunity to try and socialize. "Oh, hey Sayuri!" she greeted brightly. "What are you working on? Do you mind if I join you?" she asked curiously and mostly out of politeness. "It's quite nice today isn't it. I just love reading out here when I can. I love the library but it can get stuffy in there." she rambled while looking up at the sky, squinting.
