Aonghas had decided that he would be taking on Katia’s suggestion and had over the break told his dad that he’d be dropping out at the end of Sixth year. The man hadn’t sounded happy about it, but there wasn’t much arguing, Aonghas and him both knew that it didn’t matter if he had his NEWTs or not. What was important was that he could apparate and that he was seventeen, both of which would be true when he finished sixth year. It felt a bit relieving to know that he wouldn’t have to worry about this place too much longer, only two years of him pretending that any of this mattered. One part of it was that he had decided to quit the quidditch team. There was no need for him to continue that when he wouldn’t do anything with it. Someone else who had more motivation, more determination and generally would do more with the position could have it. It made him a little sad that he wouldn’t have that any longer but it wouldn’t stop him flying. He’d come to the great hall towards the end of when he knew the try-outs had been. He hadn’t bothered to tell Analei he was quitting, figured she could figure it out. Part of him had wanted to just go, even as he knew it would probably be too late, but he couldn’t, it would just be pointless. He had a cup of coffee in his hands and a pointless book in front of him, just to distract himself from everything around him.

There had been a missing face at the Quidditch Try Outs, and Analei wasn't entirely happy about it. If someone didn't want to be on the team anymore, fair enough, but they should at least let her know about it. She had started off the year thinking that they would have the strongest team, and for one of the team mates to just not show up at try outs, was just incredibly lame. Analei didn't think it was going to be hard to find Aonghas, and she was right. There he was, sitting there, as if try outs hadn't just happened. Analei took a deep breath, perhaps there was a really good reason for this. Taking a seat opposite Aonghas, she folded her hands together on the table. "Everything okay, Aonghas?"

Aonghas looked up as Analei - the quidditch captain and from what he’d heard head girl - sat in front of him. That had to mean that the try-outs were over then. He was out of the team. There was a sag in his shoulder but he felt some relief too. Quidditch had been something he’d enjoyed but he’d felt increasingly bad for taking up a spot when someone else who might do something it. ”Aye, just readin'’” he replied, opting to basically play a little dumb, not bother to engage with her in what she was likely wanting to engage with him in. There was no reason for her to be here speaking to him. They had never been friends, and she had never really spoken to him outside of question, ”How about ye? Must be busy wae bein’ head girl?” Aonghas asked, knowing and expressly not mentioning the quidditch he knew she’d just come from.

Analei raised an eyebrow when Aonghas spoke as if he hadn't just missed try outs. She let out a small sigh of frustration when he asked if she was busy as Head Girl. "Not that busy just yet. More busy running the try outs for Hufflepuff, that you just missed. Did you forget or something?" Analei asked, trying to keep her cool. She was Head Girl now, it wouldn't do her well to be seen yelling at a younger student.

Aonghas wasn’t surprised that she immediately moved the subject on to the try-outs. Aonghas held her gaze for the moment, almost hoping that she might’ve started yelling at him, but she didn’t. She was definitely annoyed with him but she wasn’t yelling. He let out a long sigh, and lowered his gaze to his book, ”I’m no playin’ quidditch any more, ahm quitin',” he hated saying out loud, Aonghas loved quidditch, loved playing but he knew it was pointless, ”It’s just pointless fae me tae play, so ah no gonna,” he said, without really giving much more of a reason for why, it was just that was it. He didn’t think that Analei would care about the reason probably more stuck on the fact he was quitting and he hoped to keep it that way, he could do without the questions on the matter.

Analei sighed with frustration when the boy said he was quitting. He didn't really give much of an explanation, which further frustrated the co-captain. "It would have been nice for you to give us the courtesy of knowing you were quitting, before the try outs." Analei stated, looking at the boy. "Why would it be pointless for you to play? You were good."

Aonghas shrugged a little, ”Aye might’ve been,” he said but didn’t offer an apology for not doing so. He had assumed that if he went to speak to Analei to admit he was quitting she might try to persuade him to stick around and that went exactly against what he had wanted. This method though a little rude in his mind had been the easiest and cleanest break for him. ”Aye, but ah willnae do anythin’ wae it. Ah love quidditch, but someone else who's interested and might just consider a career in it, should play, no me,” Aonghas said with a little shrug, it didn’t really offer up probably a satisfactory why, but it was how he felt about the matter and Aonghas was sure it would be enough to get Analei to leave him alone - or so he hoped.
