Jace didn't get out much, which meant that when he did go outside he made sure that he made the most out of his day. He had come down to a random park in New Zealand close to his home, which was where he usually went. It was a small place, but it was a place that he really enjoyed going too. With a smile, he sat down on the swing and pushed himself a little bit. It wasn't a lot, but he was happy to be here. He wondered if anyone else would come along today.

Padme had escaped the evil clutches of school for another day. It was tiring, school was tiring. She had meant to go to her football club that night, but she had felt unenthused by it, so she’d decided to not go, informing the couch that she was not feeling well. Padme felt fine, she just was tired and the fact soon she’d be at a completely different school, away from all of those people and those responsibilities didn’t help her in wanting to go to any. So instead she had escaped, she had to be home by her normal time, but for now, Padme didn’t have a worry. She hadn’t had a particularly good day, the name calling had been particularly intense so she was glad for the silence, for the music in her ears as she cycled away from school. She eventually reached a park, where one other boy sat in a swing. Padme got off her bike locked it up by the entrance to the park and walked in. The boy appeared to be about her age but she ignored him, taking an empty swing as far away from him as she could. She swung back and forth, it wasn’t a particularly big park, not one she’d ever been to, perhaps she had travelled further than normal, but she didn’t mind, she’d find her way back when she needed to.
hope you don't mind me jumping in.

Jace looked up as he heard someone else approaching the park. He hadn't expected to see other people find this place as it was a little bit hidden but he was happy to see the company. He was a very open and happy person considering his past, but there were quite a few moments where he would rather just stay at home with a good book, especially on a rainy day. He approached the newcomer and smiled. "Hey! I'm Jace." He said with a grin. He was happy to have the chance to make new friends, and he wondered if she would be attending Hogwarts or if she didn't know anything about the magical world. He didn't think it would be a smart idea to ask her, so he didn't, and maybe there would be some other way for him to pick up on it.

The girl did notice the boy move, and she slowed her swinging in case he walked directly in front of her. She hadn’t gotten very high and was just moving back and forth a little. The boy said something and she only caught the end as she pulled out her headphones, the music vaguely audible when she did so. Jace. This boy who had approached him was called Jace. She eyed him skeptically, why was he just talking to her randomly. They were in a park at the same time but they didn’t need to chat really. The girl didn’t know whether to introduce herself to him, maybe he was just overly eager, maybe he was nice, but she didn’t know and she could exactly trust a boy whom she’d met in a random park perhaps a little away from home, but she’d never see this boy again, so maybe what was the harm, ”Padme,” the girl replied quietly, not sure if she add anything else or if to just put her head phones back in, she’d wait, see if he said something else before deciding what she should do. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to try a bit with this boy, Jace, who she’d never see again.

It wasn't that Jace didn't notice that the girl was quite apprehensive to him talking to her, he was just far too open and outgoing sometimes to know when to stop. He smiled at her as she told him her name, "What a cool name!" He said with a grin. He was happy that she had decided to talk with him, but he still had no idea if he would ever see her after today. Maybe she was thinking something along those lines too? That would explain why she had seemed to go through a lot of different emotions before finally deciding to answer him. "Where do you go to school?" He asked her, wondering if she would say Hogwarts.

The boy in front of Padme seemed nice enough and seemed to like her name. She was a little skeptical of that, most people didn’t think it particularly cool. ”You think so?” the girl couldn’t help the question, he was so happy and friendly, smiling so much maybe it was catching a bit. But, of course perhaps he was just joking and didn’t actually believe her name to be particularly nice or cool and was just saying it so that she might be more comfortable around him. This made Padme a little more apprehensive and nervous. At the question of school she gave him a little look, ”I go to King Edwards, it’s not far from here,” the girl replied motioning towards where she’d cycled from. ”What about you?” the girl returned the question to him, curious to see what his answer would be. She knew he didn’t go to her school, she’d know his face, his name, they were the same age. It also wasn’t particularly worth saying that she was changing schools to go to hogwarts come the winter. This boy didn’t need to know that at all. It was unlikely that he was a wizard, or that she’d see him again, so while she could be honest, she didn’t have to give too much away.

This time Jace could see the disbelief all over the girls face. She didn't believe him when he said that he thought she had a cool name. It was super cool, actually, and he could hear the emotion reflected in her tone of voice. He shrugged, "Yeah." He said. He raised his eyebrow at the look he got, and returned it when she told him the name of her school. He hadn't heard of it before. "I didn't know there was a school around her." He said with a chuckle. "I'm homeschooled at the moment, but I'll soon be attending.." He stopped, hesitating. He didn't know if he'd get in trouble for telling her about Hogwarts. Though he guessed to anyone who didn't know what it was it would just seem like gibberish. He shrugged, continuing, "Hogwarts." He finished. He could always just pass it off as nothing and run away if she reacted badly and tried to push him for information. It wasn't like he would see her again if that was the case anyway.

Padme wondered a little about how far she had cycled for the boy to not know the school, perhaps he just didn’t know schools. Which given that the boy then said that he was homeschooled made sense as to why he didn’t know her school. That would be why, had to be why. The girl looked at him with quizzical gaze as he went on to inform her that he would be attending school soon, and that school would be hogwarts. She narrowed her eyes at him, maybe she would see this boy again. The girl hadn’t received her letter yet, but she hadn’t yet turned eleven, but it was where she’d be heading. They were all very certain of it. She would be seeing this boy again, and she had a choice whether to be honest about it or lie about it. She didn’t trust the boy but he was smiling and he seemed nice and hadn’t been put off by her name. ”Oh, my brother goes there,” she said, not particularly giving away that she might be attending in the coming school year but at least leaving it open that he might figure it out. She would likely therefore be seeing this boy again in the future so it would maybe be good if she knew someone or had a friend to spend some time with. But, of course that would come if she could actually trust him, which she still did not at this point.

Jace's eyes opened up a little bit when she mentioned that her brother went to Hogwarts, perhaps that meant that she would also be going there and there was a chance that he wouldn't have to start the new year off on his own without a friend. He didn't know if she actually liked him, but he was determined to at least get her to warm up to him. He grinned at her, "Does that mean you're going to be attending as well?" He asked. He hoped that she would say yes, but if she didn't have magical potential it couldn't be helped.. perhaps they could still be friends outside of the school? He hoped so, she seemed nice enough.

The girl got the exact reaction that she figured she would get by saying that. She wasn’t sure whether to be honest with him and admit that she was going too. He seemed nice, had been nice to her, was smiling and everything at her. He would find out that she’d lied to him when she got to the school and they saw each other, so maybe there was little point of it. Maybe it would just be easier to admit and be honest with him. It was such a little thing, and it might mean that when she got to the school she would have a friend. Or an almost friend, someone she could speak to, after all, since she didn’t know any magical people but like her brother, she wouldn’t have anyone else to speak to about anything. It might be so bad to know someone else, ”Yeah, in September,” She replied with a little shy expression. She was pushing the swing back and forth a little, the music still coming out of her headphones quietly. ”Are you looking forward to going?” she asked, actually offering up a question to him, it seemed about right to do so. To try, he was trying with her, she needed to try with him. He was smiling and being nice, seemed actually eager to get to know her, maybe she shouldn’t waste this opportunity.
