Self-sabtotage thy name is Frankie Ruis. Social and Tenatious, Frankie can be charming when he wants to and has a knack for engraciating himself with strangers easily. However, he also carries a chip on his shoulder and will hold onto resentments and grudges long past when they serve him any sort of purpose. He often feels trapped by his own life circumstances and it can cause him to close off emotionally or lash out at those close to him.
Convinced that planning ahead or setting himself goals is a waste of time, Frankie doesn't put much importance on success, convinced he's already a loser and that he's okay with it. He jumps from hobby to hobby, job to job, and relationship to relationship, often leaving right before things begin to progress with any real gravity to save himself from disappointment. Frankie also cares little for authority and will often intentionally act out to draw their ire.

FAMILY + HISTORY
Born in Brazil to a witch mother and muggle father, Frankie's moved to NZ when he was 7 for his father's work. His mother had never been particularly forth coming about her magical history, and when Frankie's own magical abilities began manifesting soon after the move, it didn't take long for their already strained marriage to break apart in the stress of all the sudden changes. Within the year of the move, Frankie's parent's divorced and he hasn't seen his father since. Alone in a foreign country, the remnants of the Ruis family moved to Brightstone in an attempt to stay in contact with the magical community, but not longer after, Frankie's mother grew ill. While not terminal, her illness is chronic and often incapacitating. As Frankie's 11th birthday approached, they opted for him to be homeschooled to prevent further stress on them both, financially and mentally.
While his mother does her best to balance the small potioneering projects she does to support them and keep up Frankie's schooling, he rarely takes his own school work seriously, spending most of his time loitering around Brightstone or looking for odd jobs to ease their financial stress. While open about his distain for more formal school, Frankie is loath to admit how bitter and envious he can feel about not being able to attend a school like Hogwarts or Castelobruxo.
