First Years, Lesson Six

It was already the end of semester, and just about the end of year. Gabrielle was astounded at how time flew. It had been a pretty full on semester for the first years - they'd hit the ground running with a few different major parts of magical history that they ought to be aware of, and they'd all managed to make it through their first year without her actually throwing anyone in the lake. Yet. Still, she figured she ought to be at least somewhat nice to the students, and accordingly she'd put out a table with a few snacks for the students, including pitchers of juice and water and some sandwiches and fruit as well as chocolates and cupcakes. She at least had to sort of try and make the snack table somewhat healthy (although she knew the students would probably go for the sweets).

"Hello, everyone," Gabrielle greeted, nodding at the students as they entered. "Please feel free to take some snacks. I don't have chocolate frogs, though. I'm wanting you to rely on proper sources." She waited as they milled around before taking their seats, pulling out her notes. "I'm not going to give you a lecture today, this is a revision class. Let's just go over a couple of questions that you might see on your exam and then I'll leave you to it."

Gabrielle cleared her throat, looking at her notes. "Okay, so, easy one to start. Who did we start with, the most famous wizard of all time, anyone?" She waited as someone answered, and nodded. "Good work. Let's make it a bit harder. How about...who were the three women named as witches by the Williams children in Salem?" She let the students go through the answers, and grinned. "Well done. If you had a bit of trouble remembering those, I'd say now's a good time to have a good look over your notes on the witch trials." She gave them a bit of a conspiratorial look. "The boy who lived, what was his name?" She gave a nod as that, too, was answered, and she put her notes back down as she sunk into her chair.

"Alright, I'll leave you all to it. Now's a good time to go over your notes, have some snacks, talk amongst yourselves. Would prefer you to talk about what you've learned this semester but if you must talk about other things I'd ask you to keep it down." Gabrielle smirked as she sat back behind her desk, taking an apple slice from her plate and nodding to the students. "And I'll be right here for the class so if you have any questions or need any clarification at all, please come and ask me. I'm not going to be happy to answer your questions on the morning of the exam, so speak now or forever hold your peace." With that, she let the students amuse themselves for the rest of the class time. Hopefully they would be studying, but she knew she couldn't force them to. She did certainly appreciate the students who did, though.

Homework
RP the lesson. Bonus points to students answering questions (limit it to one per student, preferably people who haven't had a chance to answer questions yet!)

It was the review week of her last semester, the end of her first year and she was awash with all kinds of emotions. She would be heading back home soon where she would regale her mother with everything she'd so far (and some things she hadn't!) and then sooner than she wanted, she would have to be getting back on the train for another year at Hogwarts. She really ought to talk to some of her friends actually, because she needed those connections. As she slipped into the classroom, her eyes widened at the sight of a snack table, because YES PLEASE. She grabbed a cupcake and a few apple slices before she headed to her seat. She listened attentively the Professor ran through the questions they would be revising in class today, and she was awfully glad she'd paid attention in the Salem class. She wasn't a notes taker kind of a girl so she was going to have to totally rely on whatever she could remember from he class. Whoops. When she asked about the most famous wizard of all time, Tori's hand rushed straight into the air, because there wasn't a witch or wizard alive today who didn't know the answer to that one. "Merlin!" As the lesson continued, Tori paid more attention to her own work, underlining some of the stuff in her books and rewriting them in ways she could understand it more easily.

Review week was the same as any other week, except that it usually meant they had things they needed to go over. Rose had skipped class today, which he could understand, so he wasn't looking for her when he sat down in the class, though he immediately searched for Lilith to see if she'd come. He quietly sat and got out all of his books to pay attention in class, since History was his favourite. He only needed to make notes out of everything he'd been saying so it wasn't that big of a deal since he'd already been going over a lot of it with the family study session they had going on.

Lilith was glad the lessons were only for reviewing the semester this week, that meant exams would be next week and therefore school year would come to an end soon. She was looking forward to going home and talking with her parents about some important things that had been pressing on her mind lately, it was one thing to send a letter and another to speak to them face to face and see their support on their faces. Lilith walked towards the familiar face of her friend Elijah and carefully sat down next to him on one side, making sure she didn't spread too wide and was ready to leave in case his sister was joining the lesson later. "Hi," She said with a quiet smile before turning her attention to the front. Lilith listened to what was being said as sort of a background noise as she went over her notes. Most of the things they had learned this year had been things she already harbored a deep interest towards, so it was just more or less perfecting the notes. Making little stars around the edges, adding additional little information she had found during the hours in the library and over all just making sure she'd go into the exams with a ready mind and trust in her knowledge.
