Vanity was bored. She had just finished her homework, though she had rushed it a bit, and now she was just sitting around trying to think of what to do. She had just put her book back in her bag and looked around to see if anyone interesting was nearby. Unfortunately, she didn't think almost anyone at Hogwarts was interesting. There were only a few exceptions. Vanity got to her feet, slinging her bag over her shoulder. Maybe she could go outside, see if there was anything to do there. As she moved past a table, she paused as she saw something shiny. Someone had been sitting there earlier, and now a gold bracelet was still lying on the table. Maybe someone had taken it off to write an essay, or maybe it had simply fallen off someone's wrist. Vanity didn't care, it was hers now. Subtly, she grabbed it off the table as she walked past, hiding it in her fist as she moved on. Hopefully, no one had seen her.

Sunny was in the general area looking around, retracing her steps and trying to figure out where she might have lost her gold bracelet. She even got down on the floor to check under the sofa, but when she didn’t see it there either, she stood up with a frustrated sigh. That’s when she spotted Vanity. Sunny grimaced inwardly because she really wasn’t a fan of Vanity, but she was a prefect, and a teammate she supposed, and maybe she could help. "Don’t suppose you’ve seen any jewelry around here? A gold bracelet to be specific" Sunny asked, her voice polite but neutral. She wasn't interested in staying for a chat about anything else, she just wanted to find her bracelet.

Vanity nearly stumbled when she heard a sudden voice. Ugh. It was Sunny. She frowned a little at her question, tilting her head slightly. "Hm, no." She said, clenching her fist more tightly and hiding it behind her back. She wished she had put on robes over her uniform today so she had pockets to hide it in. "Haven't seen it." She said lightly. "Sorry."

Sunny frowned at Vanity's reply. “Really?” she asked not in an accusing way, just genuinely baffled because she could have sworn she had left it right here. She was starting to think it might have been taken, hopefully to lost property, but more than likely stolen because this was the student lounge and a lot of students came and went from here. After a pause, she said “I'll see if Accio brings up anything,” Then she took out her wand and cast, “Accio gold bracelet!"

Why did Vanity keep forgetting about this stupid spell? She winced as Sunny mentioned it, but before she could protest or try to hide the bracelet somewhere else, the girl was already casting the spell. Vanity had never tried to hold onto something being summoned, and she quickly realized it was a bad idea. The bracelet suddenly jerked in her hand, the clasp digging into her fingers painfully. With a gasp, Vanity opened her fist and watched with some dread as the bracelet flew out in Sunny's direction. She grimaced at the angry red indents on her hand. "Oh, that gold bracelet?" She asked innocently.

Sunny caught the bracelet in her free hand as it flew out of Vanity's grip and into hers, her eyes narrowing on Vanity as she silently judged her. She hadn’t known she was a thief until this moment although it wasn't at all surprising when she thought about it. “Yes, my gold bracelet,” she said, inspecting it with certainty that it was hers with the personalised engraving. “Definitely mine.” Her voice was sweet, almost pleasant, as she added, “I imagine Professor Castillo would be very interested to hear about this.” It didn't sound much like a threat with the way she said it, even though it very much was. Then she looked at Vanity for a reaction.

Vanity managed to keep her expression neutral, even as her heart dropped at the expression on Sunny's face. It wasn't like she cared what the younger girl thought of her, but it was still sort of embarrassing to be caught red-handed like this. Literally. Vanity shrugged, pushing her hair behind her ear. "Well, your name wasn't on it and you left it abandoned on a table, I'd hardly call that stealing." She said casually. "And I actually forgot I picked it up." She added ,aware it was a flimsy excuse at best. She laughed as Sunny talked about their head of house. "Do you? I don't think he's very interested at all in student drama and would prefer it if we left him alone to, I don't know, make out with the house cup or something." She told her. "But you can go ahead and tell him. I'll tell him I just found it, which is true. I know he'll believe me, he gave me a prefec'ts badge after all."

Sunny fiddled with her bracelet, fastening it back on her wrist. This bracelet had a dodgy latch and was not the most comfortable to wear as it pinched her skin sometimes. That was why she had taken it off in the first place, but she wasn't going to share that information with Vanity. She smirked at her bracelet while Vanity spoke and nodded knowingly. She snorted at Vanity suggesting Castillo made out with the house cup. That was actually pretty funny. "Alright so you'll try gaslight me. How very.. unimaginative." She said in a false sweetly tone, "Tell you what, you put me in the starting line up of the next Slytherin game, and I'll pretend this never happened."
