Fifth Years: Lesson Three

Professor Kalif Styx thought about conjuring snails for the students to work with, but instead, he had some brought in. It was good to have connections - even better when it was the school. He had a clear case full of snails, more than enough for the fifth years. Some might make mistakes, and others might succeed, and finally, others might end up just wanting to practice more. He almost doubted that some would want to vanish more than necessary. He gestured to the fifth years as they came in to sit down. Once it was time, he waved his hand and the door closed. "You all know how to vanish inanimate objects, so you will be moving to something a little more complicated to vanish." Styx looked to the case, and then back to the students.

"Snails are invertebrates, so they won't be as difficult as animals with a spine, but you will get to that soon enough. You will need to concentrate more, because snails are more difficult than erasers. The method is still the same. This is a living creature so I will warn you just once." Styx took out his wand and waved it to send everyone one snail, which landed on their desk. "Splinching is possible when you want to vanish a living creature. Does anyone know what could happen if something were splinched?" He nodded toward a random student that did not have their hand raised, but still had their eyes up front. The answer was correct. "Good. You will need to make sure to vanish the entire creature. Not just part of it. Even if it might cease to exist, at least make it humane."

Styx took one of the snails out of the case, and demonstrated with the three tap method, and vanished it verbally. "That is all there is to it. I have extras up here if you screw up or want to practice. Now, begin. Once you vanished the entire snail, you may leave. If you have questions, ask."
Assignment: RP the lesson.

Fraser walked into the transfiguration classroom and took his usual spot in the classroom. He took his wand and placed it down as the professor got started, telling them what they would be doing. Another vanishing spell, which he was more than keen to do. He watched the professor as the man gave them a few more instructions and then was able to just get started by casting it on the snail the professor had proved. ”Sorry, little guy,” he said to it, before he pointed his wand, tapped as he was supposed to and then said, ”Evanesco,” but nothing happened, it took him most of the lesson to get it, but he did eventually get the spell. He packed up his things once he did and left the room.

The first few weeks were on their way and June had her plan for this year rolled out for herself. The patrolling of being a prefect, doing her lessons and studying and next to that she had some plans to make her seen at the school and do something social which was actually to benefit herself obviously and hopefully her house too. June would always chose herself first, and didn't plan or do something without it doing something for herself. Even getting in touch with her youngest sister was not without reason. But in a way the blonde had hopes Camille could become her sister again and she would see how wrong it was being with the Carters and around Lauren.

The blonde made her way to the classroom and found her usual spot in the front. Making sure she was all prepared for the lesson. As June saw what Styx had she tried to keep her face straight. Why use stupid and slimy animals. She hated them. June rather had an eraser but she had to do perfectly so tried to pretend it was an eraser. As an snail appeared on her desk June took her wand quickly. As Styx asked an question June was quick to raise her hand but frowned as he chose someone who didn't even seemed to be interested. She decided she didn't liked Styx for this moment because of that. But continued with looking at his demonstration. When it was time to practice themselves the blonde did and looked at the snail. She didn't felt sorry at all. June used the three tap method and concentrated. '' Evanesco.'' The blonde said more driven than ever and focused. And noticed the snale was gone, she made sure nothing of the snale was there looking under her desk to make sure, but she was confident. Take that Styx, an motivated June was dangerous and did perfectly. She quickly left the room as one of the first.

Mikael entered Professor Styx's classroom and took his seat without a word. As Professor Styx explained the task for the day—vanishing snails—Mikael listened idly, his gaze fixed on the clear case full of snails at the front of the room. That was disgusting but he didn't exactly have a choice. At least vanishing a living creature was quite intriguing, though he kept that to himself. When the snail landed on his desk, Mikael studied it for a moment, mentally preparing himself. He recalled the professor's warning about splinching and knew that he would have to be at least a little mindful with casting the spell. Taking out his wand, he performed the three-tap method. "Evanesco," he said clearly, focusing intently on the snail. The creature began to fade, but Mikael noticed a slight hesitation in its disappearance which caused a part of its shell to be left behind. He frowned as he vanished that too with more ease. Since he'd more or less failed that snail, he went and grabbed another from the professor to complete the exercise. He'd almost gotten it right the first time so he just made sure to keep his concentration on the snail as he casted the spell again. Once done, Mikael gathered his belongings and quietly left the classroom.

Horror Zhefarovich entered the classroom with a look of mild curiosity. His gaze swept over the neatly arranged snails in their case and the students settling into their seats. As the professor began speaking, Horror listened with a stoic expression. The transition from vanishing inanimate objects to living creatures was a challenge he was ready to face. When the snails were distributed, Horror’s expression remained unchanged. He eyed the creature that had appeared on his desk with a mixture of clinical detachment and interest. The idea of vanishing a living being was different from handling inanimate objects, but he was confident in his ability to handle the task.

Horror picked up his wand and took a deep breath, mentally preparing himself. He focused on the snail, visualizing it completely in his mind. With a precise three-tap motion, he cast the vanishing spell, "Evanesco." He watched closely as the snail began to disappear, ensuring that he had vanished the entire creature. There was no room for error; partial vanishing could result in splinching, which was something he wanted to avoid. As the last trace of the snail faded, Horror carefully inspected his desk to confirm that nothing remained. Satisfied, he got another one, and made it vanish, and he was ready to leave.

Bailey listened intently as Professor Styx explained their next vanishing task. She eyed the snail on her desk, feeling a twinge of nervousness about vanishing a living creature, even one as small as a snail. She steadied herself, recalling her practice with inanimate objects in previous lessons. Concentration was key. Taking her wand, she carefully performed the three-tap method, focusing her mind entirely on the snail. "Evanesco," she whispered.

The snail wavered for a moment, and a part of it started to disappear, but not all of it. Bailey frowned, recognizing this was exactly what Professor Styx had warned against. She took a deep breath, pushing away the frustration, and focused once more. After a few attempts, she finally succeeded in vanishing the snail completely. Feeling a mix of relief and satisfaction, Bailey glanced at the extras but decided she’d done enough for today. She gathered her things and quietly left the classroom, already thinking about how she could improve her technique next time.

Alicia entered the Transfiguration classroom, still feeling the bad about Gryffindor’s loss to Hufflepuff in the recent game. She took a seat, noticing Professor Styx had brought in a case full of snails for the lesson. She didn't have to think long as to why that was.

Professor Styx explained that today’s lesson would be on vanishing these living creatures. Alicia noted down that snails were more complex than erasers, but that they were also less challenging than animals with spines. The professor demonstrated the three-tap method, vanishing a snail with a wave of his wand. After the professor was done with the demonstration, Alicia received her own snail and began practicing the spell. She noticed it was more difficult on a creature like this. After trying a few times, she managed to vanish her snail completely. Satisfied with the lesson, Alicia collected her things once they were dismissed. She headed to the next lesson.

Gemma felt a little more at ease after successfully vanishing the easer in the previous lesson. Maybe this was difficult for some, but she was sure she had a handle on it. Maybe it was a good sign overall. The blonde girl smiled at this thought as she entered the less than pepper Transfiguration classroom. She strutted to the front of the room and took her seat. She did not have to wait long for the professor to begin. Gemma instantly began to miss the erasers when she saw the snails that were provided for them.

Gross. Gemma was not a fan of slimy and gross creatures. She wished she had gloves to wear but had not bought any for today. The professor obviously was not going to provide them. Gemma sighed dramatically before approaching her snail. She knew she needed all the details which meant a less than ideal close up. She examined the snail a look of distaste on her face. She would not mind vanishing this.

Gemma tapped her wand three times. "Evanesco" she said. Nothing. Gemma rolled her eyes. Of course, a gross creature like this would give her difficulty. Making sure she visualized it disappearing, Gemma spoke clearly again, tapping the snail three times. "Evanesco" The snail was gone in a blink of an eye and obviously it could not crawl fast enough. It had to have vanished. Finally. The second attempt had been worth it. Maybe vanishing was a little more complicated than she had thought, but at least she had succeed. The Slytherin girl was happy that she had nothing to turn it (that was kind of the point after all). She packed up her things and headed out of the Transfiguration classroom.
