Much to his surprise, Flavio had actually managed to put a Halloween costume together that year. He had chosen to make a vampire costume with one of his old shirts and a pair of jeans covered in fake blood that he paired with red contacts, dark make up under his eyes and fake fangs that dripped fake blood down his chin. It was basic and nothing special for Halloween, but it was a costume. It at least looked like it belonged in a Halloween feast and made sure he didn't stick out from the crowd like he would be if he were wearing normal clothes, which was the most he could say for all his attendances at the previous years' Halloween feasts combined. He felt like he both deserved and should be at the feast that night and it was all the convincing he needed to walk into the great hall uncaring if his costume wasn't as original as some of the others he had seen.

As he looked around he failed to recognize any of his friends, but figured it was because if they were there and in costumes they weren't supposed to be recognizable. He assumed he would cross paths with someone he knew sooner or later, and decided to quickly make his way to where the refreshments were so he could get a drink. He then retreated to leaning against one of the nearby walls with a glass of punch in hand, watching the festivities from afar as he planned his next move. The hall was packed with activities and he did not know where to start.

Corrine Lagos was pretty pleased with how her costume had turned out. She had copious amounts of Sleakeazy products in her hair to hold it in place. She'd done a few quick spins in front of her mirror before heading downstairs carefully, the platforms on her feet taking some getting used to. As she stepped into the Great Hall, Corrine's jaw dropped. It was so spooky!

Moving around slowly, Corrine knew she wanted to try a hammock, and the tent, and the food. Really, she didn't know where to start, but she managed to end up on the drink line so she remained, ending up with a drink that left her teeth black as if she'd just eaten a mouth full of bugs. It tasted good though and was quite the laugh, so she was happy to look a little ghastly. Sipping it slowly, Corrine looked around some more. She ended up moving towards the sidelines, not sure she could dance in her shoes anyway, not that anyone had asked her.

Not spotting any friends, Corrine sighed and leaned against a free wall space, taking a look at the other wall flowers. She turned sideways and grinned. "I know you!" she said to a boy. Some of the costumes she saw were confusing, but this one, this one she knew. "Draaaaacula" she said slowly, the word coming out in as spooky a tone as she could muster. She'd found the Muggle book in a bin at a used bookstore in her town. It had been the best five knuts she'd ever spent. "Well if you had a cape" she frowned slightly.

Flavio was in the midst of figuring out ways to sip from his glass of punch without his fake fangs getting in the way, when the girl next to him turned sideways and exclaimed she knew him. Flavio looked from his glass and to the girl, brows furrowed when he did not recognize her at all. Though his features quickly softened when he realized she was talking about his costume. "Just a vampire, actually, but a cape would have been cool." He responded, once again looking out to the festivities to see if he could spot some of his friends. When he still could not find someone he knew, he smiled and looked back to the girl that spoke to him. "What are you dressed as, exactly?" He asked looking her up and down. Unfortunately her costume wasn't as blatantly obvious as his own. A down side was that he had no idea was she was supposed to be and a plus side was that the girl was clearly more original in her costume choice if he could not figure it out. Regardless her costume did look interesting and even if it wasn't outright spooky it did fit in in the middle of the Halloween feast.

Sophie wasn't a big fan of Halloween. She didn't like the silly costumes, the noise, the laughing people, the whole idea of it was stupid. It was an American holiday, why were they so fixated on it? But she had volunteered to write about it for the paper, and that was always fun. She could show her distaste for it in her piece, and she was pretty sure Lennon would let her publish it as long as she actually put some information in there as well.

Which was why she was here, not in costume but with a notebook and pen. She stood near the edge of the hall taking notes about the decorations and the more interesting costumes. It was a little hard recognize people like this, but she hoped she could connect most people to their costumes later for her piece. She spotted someone she did recognize though, a boy from her house. She may as well talk to someone, maybe she could put some quotes in her article. She approached him but saw he was talking to someone else, a girl she didn't know. Sophie listened to their conversation for a little while when the boy asked her what she was supposed to be. Sophie had no idea either. Maybe it was a muggle thing, though. Sophie didn't know much about that despite having muggle grandparents. "Hey, what do you guys think about the decorations this year?" She asked them, her pen poised to write down a hopefully interesting reply. "I'm writing for Hogwarts Monthly." She explained. Her tone was a lot lighter and less sarcastic than it usually was, as she felt some sort of obligation to be more professional when she was on Hogwarts Monthly business. At least, as long as nobody provoked her.

Corrine saw the boy clearly look around. He was probably looking for anyone else to hang out with as he replied to her. It stung a bit, but she tried her best to hide it as he turned back to her and smiled. She tried to return it, but then recalled what her teeth looked like, blackened, gappened, and all. It was no wonder he probably wanted to get away from her. Corrine had a napkin in hand, but she couldn't bring it to her mouth now. It would be too obvious.

Corrine was ready to explain her costume when she spotted someone coming up to them. It was probably the person he'd been looking for. "Oh, it's just a silly Muggle thing. A 70s girl. I even had some peace sign glasses but they were hard to look through" she explained, pulling them slightly out of her pocket. She was going on and on though the enthusiasm she'd had from earlier had dimmed. Ready to step away, Corrine was surprised when the girl addressed them both. She hadn't been expecting that. She opened her mouth to answer the question and then quickly shut it as the girl mentioned the school newspaper. She didn't really want to be in it, though avoiding answering would be quite rude. "They're pretty cool" she stated, trying to appear as chill as she could even though she really wanted to go on and on about how amazing they were.

Flavio nodded as the girl explained her costume was inspired by a Muggle from the 1970's. To him the decade represented the Military dictatorship and Pinochet regime that he had learned about from his grandparents, so he did not know much else about how muggles lived at that time in other places around the world, let alone how they dressed. But he did appreciate the obvious effort the girl put into her costume. The peace sign glasses were a nice touch even if she wasn't wearing them. However before Flavio could give the girl a compliment someone else approached them. It was Amber's younger sister Sophie who said she was writing for the Hogwarts Monthly. Amber had mentioned Sophie was part of the school paper and Flavio was glad to see for himself that Sophie was enjoying something around the school. She had seemed antisocial and unhappy in his first encounter with her and it was great to see a change for the better.

He looked up, tilting his glass of punch to the enchanted ceiling as he answered Sophie's question. "The ceiling is great, I love the moon behind the clouds and the bats that fly around." He answered, sipping from his glass when he thought he had said enough. Flavio turned back to the girl dressed from the 1970's and introduced himself, realizing he should have said his name before. "My name is Flavio by the way, what's your name?" He then looked over to Sophie and smiled. "and this is Sophie." He added, wanting to include everyone and make new friends despite being unsure if he was doing everything right.

Sophie noted down the girl's costume, just to be sure. She didn't think she was going to actually mention it as she didn't think it was that spectacular, but you never knew. She had been hoping for some interesting responses to her question, but she supposed she shouldn't have expected much from such a boring question. Why had she decided to write about the Halloween feast again? "Pretty cool? You know, if you don't like them you can say that too. It can be off the record if you want." She said, trying her best to seem friendly though it was hard. Flavio was a little more descriptive and she noted it down. Then she scowled when he introduced her along with himself. "Sophie can talk for herself." She said with a sharp look at Flavio. "So... Is the food any good?"

Corrine listened as the boy replied and nodded her head in agreement. As the reporter spoke to her, Corrine frowned. "If I thought that, I'd have said so" she replied, slightly annoyed that the girl was attempting to put words in her mouth. It was why she hadn't wanted to say anything in the first place. Corrine's mother had always gone on and on about how the media didn't always get stories right, often having their own angle to push and the message had stuck. As Flavio introduced himself, Corrine smiled, her lips tightly sealed to mask her teeth. She sent her tongue across her teeth, hoping the darkening had disappeared. She wasn't near a mirror of any kind to check so preferred to assume the worst. "Corrine" she said easily enough, pronouncing it as 'Ker-in'. Corrine continued after Flavio had introduced the other girl as well. It was too bad she wasn't as nice as her name. "Nice to meet you both."

It was obvious that the two knew each other, though she wasn't sure how well they did or if she was interrupting something. At the next question, Corrine shrugged. "Must be. The line is long" she replied. She had not wanted to stand in it when she'd first arrived, preferring to walk around and take everything in before making it to the drink line which was moving pretty swiftly.
