Eye Candy from Afar

With the holidays coming to a close, Irene came back to the castle a few days earlier to prepare the library for the new semester. After all, there were still students who came in for a light reading or some peace and quiet. So, after a three-day holiday back home, she was back in the comfort of her favorite place in the castle. One of the favorites that is.

The woman was walking down the rows of shelves, checking the books as well as the tables and chairs being properly placed. She enjoyed the task of doing some things manually. Despite of this, she still had her wand out at the ready for some minor spells in reaching high shelves when needed. She was humming a soft tune to occupy the silence of the place since there were just a few people around. She stopped at a shelf where she browsed some books of her interest, thinking of doing some reading herself. With her nose on the book, she didn't notice there was another person at the shelf across the aisle.

With the new semester underway, Landon was very happy to be back at work. He loved working with children and rather enjoyed the company at Hogwarts rather than how lonely he felt at home. It felt great to be able to see smiles on children's faces and to be able to pass on his knowledge to what he hoped would be an amazing generation to come. The man was finalising his lessons before classes started and decided he would make his way to the library to borrow some resources. With a smile on his face, he found the Herbology section and began walking down the aisle, scanning the books to find the one he was looking for. As his fingers brushed the spines of the various books, he stopped abruptly when he noticed a lady with her nose on one of them and jumped, having been frightened by her sudden appearance. There were not many people at the school during that time and so the presence of another person intrigued him."Merlin's beard!" he exclaimed, watching her across the aisle. "I don't mean to be rude, but what are you doing?" She seemed far too interested in the book and it made Landon curious, hoping she wasn't up to anything suspicious as he had never seen her before.

A shout to Irene's left made her lose her composure and dropped the book she was holding. She figured that she was too engrossed on her reading that she didn't notice the presence near her. "Goodness!", she exclaimed,a hand to her chest as if to slow her heart from hammering. She glanced at the source of the voice and found a man whom she figured out to be one of the professors in the school. She had seen him during meals at the staff table but with the many of them eating together at the long table, it was difficult to socialize, let alone get to know each other's names. When the man asked what she was doing, she couldn't help but feel insulted. Still, the Durmstrang graduate kept her cool. "If you must know this is a library so I am only doing the most obvious thing to do.", she answered softly at him while she bent down to retrieve what she had dropped. Straightened up, she shot back his question,"What are you doing? The semester hasn't started yet if you are aware.", she stated with a smile of her own. She couldn't stay annoyed at this man for too long now that she had taken a look at him properly.
