The only thing Knox remembered about the previous year’s valentine’s day was stuffing his face so full of chocolate hearts he woke up with an awful tummy ache the next morning, and if Knox wasn’t so worried about dressing his best to impress the recipients of the pink roses he had sent he would have spent his night the exact same way. Instead he knew he couldn’t, or rather shouldn’t eat too much chocolate lest he talk to one of the people he liked with a messy face, or worse, smeared chocolate on his white shirt he wouldn’t be able to clean away easily. No, that night was about appearances, even if Knox didn’t know what he was doing or if he would even see the people he was looking for in the great hall as he arrived. It was unlike him to be so worried about how he looked, but Knox felt like a fish out of water in so many ways already, liking people as more than friends and thinking they were cute being such a new experience, that caring about his appearance that night was the least weird part of all of it. Sighing, and trying to stay calm and cool and collected, Knox headed to stand at the side-lines of the dance floor, gently nodding his head along to the music and hoping he would eventually run into someone he could talk to.
