Professor Styx leads the two contestants to the stage, appointing them into the north or south part of the stage. He reveals the rules as well as the point system. He walks off the stage and orders the duel to begin, as he keeps a watchful eye.
OOCOut of Character:
All right, make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.
The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post after 24 hours, they are disqualified.

James smiled as he was called forward onto the duelling platform, aware that as one of the older students in the school, he would be looked up to to provide a good, clean, but most of all interesting, duel to the younger students who had only covered a few simple spells. Drawing his wand, he bowed before his opponent, a nice enough boy from Ravenclaw he only knew a little about - something about women, before attacking. Deciding to go for an easy enough, and not particularly harmful spell, he cast Levicorpus.
Action(s) Taken: Cast Levicorpus

Matthew was one of the first to get up for his duel, when he saw his opponent he was a little relieved, there were far worse people in his year to be paired up against. Matthew bowed to his opponent and took his position. James fired the first shot and Matthew held out his wand, "Protego," He managed to block the spell and then turned to fire a spell of his own, "Stupify,"

Action(s) Taken: Cast Spell x2
Point Changes: -10
Points Remaining: 140

Current Points: 145

James wasn't surprised when Matthew blocked the spell; it hadn't, after all, been meant to take him out of the fight completely, more of a test to see how confident he was. There had been a possibility that he might take the spell head on, but clearly he didn't this time, and retaliated with a standard duelling spell James was expecting to come at some point. Mirroring his opponent, he blocked the spell with a simple Protego and then once more retaliated, this time with a spell which could win him the duel if he got it right, "Confundo"
Action(s) Taken: Cast Protego and Confundo
Point Changes: -10
Points Remaining: 135
