Professor Styx leads the two contestants to the stage, appointing them into the north or south part of the stage. He reveals the rules as well as the point system. He walks off the stage and orders the duel to begin, as he keeps a watchful eye.​

All right, make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.
Oh, and the duel begins now. Also, if someone doesn't post after 12 hours, then they are disqualified.

Joanna had been looking forward to today. She wasn't one to take part in many school activities outside of a few clubs that she was part off, but none of them really did anything and it was just another area that she could go and be away from everyone. Today was different though, she was going to prove to people that she wasn't just a recluse and that she was a talented witch, or at least talented for her age, she didn't want to waste her life and live off her family money and maybe these duels could help with that. Allowing Professor Styx to direct her to her place on the stage she waited until the duel was declared started. As soon as it was she pointed her wand directly at her opponent and spoke clearly, "Petrificus Totalus!" wanting to go for the kill shot, as it were, right away and show that she meant business.

Maya was really excited to be participating in her own duel. She had been waiting for the chance to duel since the time they were announced. Hearing her name, she knew it was her turn and Maya quickly approached the platform. She was about to bow at her opponent and at the Professor until she had to quickly shield herself. "Protego!" She had almost been hit by the spell, that was a close one. Now Maya was slightly annoyed, because she was trying to be respectful, but apparently this girl was having none of that at all. "Expelliarmus!" Maya decided she didn't much like this girl.

Joanna frowned when her spell missed the girl but she didn't have long to think on it and quickly had to react to the girls counter spell, "Protego!" she said, barely missing the spell from hitting her. Now it was really on. Before her opponent could cast again she went again, "Stupefy!" hoping it would hit.

Maya screeched slightly when she saw another spell was flying her way, she barely managed to put up a decent Protego, before she was facing the Slytherin girl, thinking about what spell she should use. Locamotar Motes!" Maya was highly embarrassed when she realised she had said it wrong and quickly shot the correct spell, hoping it wasn't noticed.

Joanna was annoyed that the spell hadn't hit it's target, but it was funny seeing he screech as the spell neared her before she protected herself against it. Unfortunately Joanna wasn't quick enough when her opponent shot a spell back at her. She felt a tugging sensation at her legs and she nearly lost her balance before she realised that the leg locking spell had hit her. She quickly cast the finite spell on herself and took a moment to gather herself before casting another spell.

Maya watched on in triumph as she realised she had managed to be the first to score a hit. She was so happy that she had hit first instead of being hit. She quickly got ready to shield herself in case the girl decided that she would throw a spell back, however when she didn't get attacked, Maya changed her stance and shot her own spell at the girl. The Bluebell flames spell went soaring towards the girls robes.

Joanna had no sooner got her balance back to normal did she see a familiar set of blue flames coming towards her. Quickly casting up a successful protego she jumped right back into action, wanting to make up for missing her chance to cast a spell against the other girl. "Stupefy!" she said, wanting to do damage after the girl embarrassed her with the leg locking spell..

Maya saw the girl was making up for her one mistake by shielding herself against Maya's flames and then shooting a reaction stupefy. Maya somehow managed to shield herself in time and the shot a quick, "Petrificus Totalus", before awaiting another return.

Joanna wasn't going to let herself get sidetracked again quickly protected herself against her opponent's attempt of hitting her with another spell. The predictable spells were getting old so Joanna decided to try something different that might distract her opponent if she was hit so she could deal the winning blow. "Rictusempra" she shot in the direction of her opponent, hoping that if she was laughing, she would be too distracted to protect herself against a final blow.

Maya saw the spell coming and knew it was going to hit her, so she quickly shot a spell of her own before her opponents one could hit her. "Tarantallegra!" She was then shot with her opponents spell and began laughing uncontrollably. She hoped she would be able to cast a spell if she had too. She wasn't able to cast a finite at this moment, so she hoped she could calm down soon.

Joanna was happy that her spell had hit it's target successfully but she barely put up a successful Protego to protect her against the quick spell her opponent had shot at her. Now was her shot. Once she was clear of the dancing spell she quickly shot out a Stupefy, the girl was still laughing uncontrollably, there was no way she would be able to protect herself against it.

Maya was still in hysterics as she tried to calm herself. She was trying really hard to cast that needed spell, but she just couldn't form the words right. She kept getting close, but not quite close enough. She was in the middle of a particularly severe laughing fit when she saw the stunning spell thrown her way. She quickly moved to flick her wand and defend herself. "P-pr-prot.." However she was too late and was hit square in the chest, the full effects of the spell taking her down easily.

Professor Styx saw that the duel between Maya and Joanna was over. He revived Maya and announced as he stepped onto the dueling platform, "Joanna wins the duel."
