Professor Misha Haden had been a bit surprised to be asked to help out, he didn't often, but he didn't mind it. Though of course he was feeling a little more tired than usual with the boys keeping him awake. It was nice though, they were adorable. He looked at the two students whose duel he was overseeing. "Let's keep this clean," he said, before inviting them to get started.

OOCOut of Character:
The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules here. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels. Duelers cannot cast spells at the spectators or face disqualification.

Felix stood, playing with his wand on the stage as he waited for his next opponent. He'd grown confident after beating Asher, so Ruth wouldn't be an issue. Upon realising the duel was due to start, he stood up straight and got into position, making sure he wouldn't come close to falling off the platform this time. "Would you like to start us off?" Felix smirked, letting the Slytherin make the first move.

Ruth felt a little bad about beating Bea, but that was just how the competition went. She hoped there were no hard feelings there. But she didn't want to get ahead of herself. A win was good, but easily could be taken as a fluke. She bowed as directed and smiled sweetly at the taunt. She understood the game. "Oh my gosh, that's sooooo gentlemanly of you," she responded, beaming. "I'm still working all this out! Here I go! Expelliarmus!" She knew a spell would come back quickly, but she was curious as to how he'd play it.

Amory slipped into the audience of yet another duel, but who could blame him he had time to kill and both his closest friends were dueling. Recognizing the girl as one from his own house Amory shrugged, sorry fellow Slytherin but there would be no house alliance today. Felix being himself just went and started it off with taunting, psychological warfare or something like that. "C'mon Felix, you can do better!" He called out hoping Felix would put up a show entertaining enough to watch.

Felix wasn't sure if his tauntings had worked too well, since Ruth seemed delighted he let her go first. "Take your time," he grinned back. He was ready to block her spell, immediately shooting a stunning spell of his own in return. He ignored Amory, because quite frankly he hadn't even done anything yet. If by do better he meant win, then yes, yes he would.

Ruth kept a placid smile on her face, blocking the spell almost a little bit too slow, but not slow enough to get hit by it. "Wow, pretty strong," she said with an air of being impressed, before firing back a Locomotor Mortis. She needed just a bit more time to get a good read on him. All those Gryffindor boys kind of blended together into one, after all.

Felix was starting to get the impression Ruth was taking the p*ss out of him. There was no way his spell was strong, given it was just a basic stun. Was she trying to massage his ego so he'd slip up? He blocked her spell once more, pacing left and right on the platform while he considered his next move. "Won't it be so much better when we're older, and can choose from more spells?" Felix said, before firing a disarming charm at her wand. "Unless of course, you're so disheartened from all these losses by then that you never get that far."

Ruth was starting to see why she didn't hang out with the boys in the year level much. Still, she kept smiling, and blocked the disarming spell somewhat languidly. She blinked at the hostile response and tilted her head, figuring she must have riled him up faster than expected. "Um, okay, but like, I won my last duel, so..." she shrugged. "I'm just here for a bit of a laugh?" She punctuated that with a rapidly cast Rictusempra, thinking he could do with a bit of an attitude shift, and fiddled with her ponytail. "Aren't you like, doing some kind of student advocacy thing? Maybe you shouldn't be so mean?"

"Yeah, you won the last one," Felix agreed, "but there's plenty more available to lose between now and I don't know, sixth year? Whenever you get the cool spells," he tried to explain himself. Felix was also just here for a laugh, although of all the clubs, he wasn't sure the SDA was the one with the most chuckles to be had. He tried to block Ruth's spell but was a moment too late, as her next question could him off guard. Through the laugher that suddenly erupted from his lips, he tried to get out, "Yeah... I'm trying.. to help students..that don't find..school..easy," he was having to wipe tears of laugher from his face. This was not the front he was going for. He quickly cast Finite, taking a moment to regain himself.

Amory watched his best friends and housemates duel in silence. Those two were having a rather interesting back and forth themselves, it was only when Felix was hit by a laughing spell that Amory grimaced. Yeah this was an unfortunate look for someone trying to gain trust of others with their problems, now making it seem like a joke. Though at least he had the excuse of having been hit by a spell?

Ruth kept regarding Felix somewhat curiously, looking more mildly bemused than anything else. Of course, that was most of her regular state. She shrugged, seemingly unbothered by the taunting. "I dunno, if I don't do well with dueling I'll just find something else to do instead?" She didn't know why she was bothering to explain herself, but she supposed that jumping to implying she'd lose consistently was a bit full on. She did seem to be getting somewhere, though, and decided to press the advantage. Even if she did have to giggle a bit at the spell effects. "Oh, I see. Expelliarmus. Um, but like, why though? That sounds like a lot for a second year to do," she continued, partially to distract but mostly out of genuine curiosity.

Ruth didn't seem to be particularly receptive to his humor, so he dropped it. The Gryffindor blocked her spell, now it was easier to talk now that he wasn't laughing uncontrollable. "Is it?" he asked in return, sending another stunning spell her way. "It doesn't feel like a lot," he was just helping people, it didn't exactly feel like something that added any pressure. "I'd rather be there for students that need someone to talk to, than they feel like there's just no one around," he shrugged.

If there was anything Ruth was for sure actually good at it was being a somewhat annoying younger sister, as Cyrus could attest to. At least that was a skill she could put to use here as well. Sometimes you just had to take what you already had and use it. She quickly blocked the spell, kind of glad Leah had practiced with her even if Ruth didn't really love the hard work. "Huh. So, like, are you like a muggleborn or something?" she asked, before slipping in a quick trip jinx. "Like, it's totally cool if you are, I just kinda thought cause I know they kinda have a hard time getting used to the school and all, so like, that's kinda nice if you're helping out there."

Felix hadn't really considered that blood type might have come into it too, and there were probably even more students that needed help than he realized. "I'm not," he said truthfully, blocking her trip jinx in time. He wasn't sure if he knew Ruth well enough to tell her the reason this had all come about in the first place. "There probably are some muggleborns that find things harder to get used to than others," he thought about those that he knew, "but I also don't think those who grew up with magic should feel like they need to know everything too. Coming here is a whole new life for practically everyone," he explained, making a note to check in with the others before sending a disarming spell at the Slytherin. "Wasn't it for you?"

Ruth was mildly amused at how Felix had talked up the lack of spells available and yet refused to use anything more interesting. Maybe he just wasn't very creative, she thought, still keeping the same bemused and benevolent smile on her face. Or didn't want to have fun. She blocked the disarming spell, tilting her head again in confusion. Better keep trying to get him off guard. Sure, it might have actually been hard to make friends in the year level when this whole group sort of already existed and maintained some sort of air of exclusivity that she didn't know how to breach without being a try-hard, which absolutely wasn't her style and would probably make her end up considered lesser to the rest of them from the outset even if they did accept her in their circle, but Ruth wasn't about to say that. She had a couple of friends, and that was fine. "Not...really?" she said, looking as confused as possible before throwing in an Everte Statum. "I guess my brother told me stuff before so that's kinda lucky, but like, you just get in and work it out, right?" She'd be mildly infuriating if she had to be.

In 24 hours if no winner, this duel will be decided by RNG.

Ooc: Oops missed the cut off 🥲

Felix watched as Ruth blocked his spell, thinking about little Ten had told him when Ruth spoke about her brother. Ten and Ned hadn’t told him a thing, and it was true he’d had to work things out for himself but that didn’t mean it was easy for everyone. “Yeah..” Felix lingered, almost forgetting he was in a duel in the first place. So busy lost in thought, he wasn’t sure why but he didn’t think Ruth was going to send out another offensive spell while they were talking about something important. Before he knew it he was flying through the air, the crowd becoming smaller in the distance before his ass met with the stage. To add insult to injury, he was so close to the edge that he toppled off backward before he could stand up, losing the duel entirely.
