Dinner For Two

He was glad they had decided to do this; it would come as a fresh and welcome change from the usual routine of long work hours, collecting Cayden from kindergarten, and then settling in for another tired evening of spaghetti meatballs and bedtime stories. Not that he didn't absolutely adore his son and all the parenting duties that came with it. But again, as Scott McKinster awaited his beautiful girlfriend in the second fanciest restaurant in town, suited and booted with his hair styled up, he couldn't help but think this would be one of the greatest evenings he had enjoyed in so many draining weeks.

Scott checked his watch as one of the waiting staff walked past. She wasn't running late. He was early. He never normally managed early, what with work asking constantly for him to do overtime, and his reluctance to turn down a better pay check for his family and himself. It was most unusual to see his watch ticking slowly on by as he waited for the agreed time to come.

And come it did.

Karen was excited. Maybe too excited. It was one of those days when she was having like the best day ever and seemed that it would continue on forever. She had woken up quite early in the morning and just brought out her canvas, paint and brushes. She just loved to paint, and whenever she has the time, she just does it like she has all the time in the world. She had just finished her latest masterpiece which she had been working for in weeks in time to prepare herself for work. And it wasn't even nearing evening yet, the best part of the night.

Karen had spent hours in the kindergarten where she worked, and she totally enjoyed it. The woman just loved her job of teaching the little kids as she loved them very much. But it was too soon when the children were picked up by their respective parents, one by one and she could only look at the watch and smile. Perfect, I'll have enough time to prepare, she thought to herself as she bade goodbye to her co-teachers and began to go home. She knew that tonight would be wonderful, as it was a date night for her and her boyfriend. They rarely had dates since he was frequently busy and she was too, well, partly anyway. But when she has dates with Scott, they were really wonderful.

The woman had finished preparing herself and then rode a cab for the place Scott had told her. She looked at her watch and saw that she would arrive just in time and she did. She paid the driver and made her way to the restaurant, a waiter directing her where to go and when she saw him, she flashed a happy smile at him. She prepped herself up for this night and she was glad that Scott had invited her to what she thinks would be the greatest evening in the past few days or maybe even weeks.
