Skye desire to be at Hogwarts had resulted in her returning to school a little early. One of the things she loved about the holidays was having the school almost to herself, especially the grounds. The grounds were big enough that it was easy to be alone even in the middle of term. But in the holidays, the lake front was silent in a way it never was when the castle was full. It was a wonderfully warm New Zealand morning when Skye decided to go down to the lake. Along the way she didn't encounter a single student, for others that might make them feel lonely or isolated. But for some reason Skye liked being alone.

There was nothing Skye liked more than feeling the sun on her face as she looked out over the calm lake. There was no place back home that made her feel so relaxed, so it had become imperative that she return to school early. For Skye too much time with her extended family was enough to make her bubbly personality start to crack. Having been to Hogwarts themselves, her parents were more than understanding about her desire to go back. Her father had been the same when he was Skye's age. She had taken comfort in learning that. Skye pulled out her wand and began to levitate anything she could find in the area, she wasn't sure if she was allowed to be practicing magic in the holidays, even if she was on school grounds. But she didn't care, it was just the thing she needed to keep her bubbly.

Graeme had spent his time during the christmas holidays in school. He had not really intended to stay during the holidays, but after he had heard nothing back from his grandparents, or his mother then he decided that he would just stick around. It had not been overly fun, he had been alone for most part, no presents. It seemed like he had been left behind, it didn't bother him, though he'd decided if this happened again that he was just going to pool together any and all money he had so that he would be able to fly back home to at least try to see his mother because he was tired of this. He couldn't understand why his mother wasn't contacting him. He couldn't understand the nothingness he was getting back from her. His grandparents he could understand. They were losing their minds. That being said, he had chosen to not linger around his dorm any more. He had mostly stared at the same four walls for the majority of the time that had been dull. Sure, every so often he'd headed outside. Sat in the sunshine, but it had mostly been a very solitary two weeks. On that day, when it was a few days before the start of term, Graeme had decided to do a bit of reading outside. He was sat at the lake front, a small amount of lunch beside him, and a book was in his hands.

Graeme was laying on the grass, head leaning on his bundled up jumper. Shoes and socked lay beside him, the jeans were rolled up to his knees. He was enjoying the warm sunshine, and peacefulness of the day. While it had been fairly solitary he had at times enjoyed the amount of peace that it had let him live in. it had been a nice change from the noise and the chaos of a school term. He had just begun drifting off to sleep, his hands still held the book though it was opened and settled on his stomach. The thing which brought him out of the sleep was someone talking, then the book from his hands felt like it was slipping away. He cracked open his eyes and noticed that his book was levitating. He looked around and noticed a girl casting the spell. "Excuse me, think I could have ma book back?" The boy spoke in a light a jovial tone. Though he had been without much company during this holiday and it had not entirely been terrible, he was glad to see someone else. "You're good at this spell" He smiled at her, leaning up on his elbows so he could speak to the girl. He rubbed his eyes of the sleep and smiled happily at the girl in front of him.

Hope you don't mind me joining this! Also, sorry for the slight god mod. Seemed like the right way to get them talking.
