Hosting an event such as a career fair was nothing short of amazing for the deputy minister. The area was cleared out for the afternoon, directing the workers and other wizards and witches in another direction to host the event. Mikhail hung a banner over the entrance to guide the students to the tables, which read 'Welcome to the Career Fair!'. Below the banner, a huge table with snacks and drinks appeared as prepared by the kind elves that he had asked for. The man took great care in organizing the event, from having a few tables out for different areas of the ministry, but not all considering that it would have taken too long, and a few other positions in the wizarding world. Some of the faces he recognized easily while others were a little too new for him to recognize at first. While he was hosting the event, Mikhail was glad that he was able to work with the school to get this underway. Announcements were made for a month on the radios, in the daily prophet, and even owled out some letters to the children of Hogwarts New Zealand. With a pleasant smile on his face, Mikhail looked to the tables, seeing those in the Ministry and giving them a nod off acknowledgement. The time was close to starting, and the deputy prayed that this would be a success. The children needed to see the different jobs there were, and what better way than hosting an event such as this?
OOCOut of Character:
All right, here is our first fair! Only those approved will be able to have their tables and talk to the students. Don't forget this is taking place between Y28 and Y29. So come on in!
Any questions, pm me or a member of the site staff. Any in character questions directed to Mikhail will be answered as well. Have fun!

Mikael was rather excited for the Career Fair, as he couldn't think of anything cooler than showing off his occupation for the kids at the local school. He knew he liked it - it had changed his entire life, after all. He wasn't sure what to expect, but the warder was happy to go along to represent his business, and after a long discussion with Leopold, he managed to talk his partner into letting him be the one to attend. He wasn't entirely sure what it would entail, but the entire situation seemed straightforward enough - talk to students, 'inspire' them. He could do that. Warding was awesome anyway, he doubted he'd have much trouble with it. After all, it wasn't like he was trying to convince them how sitting behind a desk and calculating your Life Path was fun. He'd never really met the deputy before, but that didn't save the man from being greeted with a friendly wave and a hearty, "Hey there!" There was plenty of food, and Mikael made sure to stop by them to grab something to eat and a drink to wash it all down, before finding a spoke to sit. He had his name spelled out on a little sign and a bright smile to help break the ice. He was so ready!

As a healer Tybalt had seen the appeal of doing the career's fair. he'd decided half way through his school what he wanted to do with his life and it had been his mission since then. However it took a lot of work to get to his point and he wanted to tell the students about it. Encourage them to consider becoming a healer despite the amount of work that it could take. The man stood at the table he'd been assigned to, bringing with him information about the various departments within the hospital as well as some of the information about what was required of a person to become a healer, the time it took and those sorts of things. He'd be sharing the stand with a woman called Paige (he thought) and she was a social worker, someone he did work closely with occasionally, or had when he'd been in the emergency department but still occasionally now. He was very curious to meet her and find out what she'd brought. But more so than that the man was definitely very excited about the prospect of telling the students interested about how great and rewarding being a healer was.

Leonidas was doing everything in his power to make sure that New Zealand felt like a home to Reisha his niece and ward, the family summer home that had once belonged to her mother's side of the family was now their home and he had gone to a lot of effort to make it feel like a home. His job here was different in many aspects from England, it was the same position but there were more dragons in this part of the world that were dangerous but then again, everything this side of the hemisphere was more dangerous, especially their snakes and spiders. The first few months had felt like a rookie again, retraining some of his skill set to deal with more lethal dragons.

The advertisement in the ministry to be part of the career fair made a lot of sense to him, there certainly weren't enough people within the department trained in dragon restraint or it's research, in fact most of the beast department could do with more staff but that was only his opinion. Everyone wanted to be an auror or some other career position that sounded cool. Sure dealing with dragons may not have been cool and sure you could get seriously burnt, scarred or killed but it was exciting and it was interesting. He had three books on dragons under his belt, the first one had done reasonably well but the second two had become best sellers and he was still figuring that one out.

He was just glad that his application to work a table at the fair had been accepted, he knew he would be manning it with another worker from the beast division but he hadn't been told who. He was actually looking forward to meeting someone else, he knew Lucas and one or two others but that was it really. His job didn't give him much time to befriend people. Leon just hoped he could put a real good spin on the job that he adored doing, new recruits were always needed.

Ever since Marcel was a kid he dreamed of working with magical creatures, so naturally he thought that it would be a good idea to volunteer for the career fair and hope that more children shared his love for the magical creatures in this world. It wasn't a simple job as it required a lot of knowledge about creatures, plants and sometimes even potions but it was a rather fun one - and you didn't even have to graduate from school to become one, although he wasn't going to tell any of the children that little detail because he didn't want to be responsible for them dropping out of school. Marcel smiled and nodded at the Deputy Minister before walking up to his stand. He had never been with in a room with such an important man so the fact that he was made him feel a little bit nervous. Once at the stand he'd be sharing with someone else to talk about their jobs involving magical creatures, he waited for the fair to start.

Glancing around him, Leon saw none of the stands with anything with Beast Division on and taking the card from his back pocket, he read through it in more detail. He could have slapped himself on the forehead for making presumptions, Reisha had said to make sure he had every detail down but he had been so tired after hunting down and restraining not only a dragon but some idiots who thought the dragons body parts would be make excellent sales on the dark market. The card had simply said magical creatures and he had of course assumed that it was magical creatures to do with his department, looking at the card now and in the bright light of day with a little more sleep under his belt - it most likely and probably did mean any magical creature at all, which would mean he would be sharing a table with just about anyone really.

He found a board that had a lay-out of the stands and ran his finger through it until he found the one he was looking for and headed in that direction. There was already a man standing there and Leon gave a lopsided grin as he moved to stand behind the table also.
"Hi there, I'm Leon ... Beast division at the ministry" he said as way of an introduction extending his hand for the man to shake before then unloading the books, pamphlets, application forms, photographs and moving dragon miniatures upon the table.

This was way out of Paige her league. Paige loved being around children, but seeing all these people here with big jobs she got kind of scared. The one more dangerous than the other. Paige was glad she shared a table with a healer from St Mungo. At least she had worked with this person and knew what he was about. Paige had enough the deal with at Hogwarts, so her grades had suffered the last couple of years. She became a social worker at St Mungo and loved every day of it. With this day event her goal was to let the kids know that even with lesser grades you could do something with your life. The person who made the tables look all fancy definitely deserved a medal. They looked like a lot of work had gone in them and Paige was ready for the kids to come.

Though he had not been working in the Ministry of Magic for at long - or at least, New Zealand's branch of the magical government, Konstantin was more than experienced in his field and immediately jumped at the chance to educate and encourage the youth of today with the introduction of a Career's Fair. It was the perfect event for young witches and wizards, both who had ambitions for particular jobs, and those who were still uncertain as to what career they wanted to pursue, to come and talk to people experienced in various occupations. It was an opportunity the Russian wished he had growing up as a child, it had taken him some time to figure out exactly what he wanted to do with his life, even after he had graduated. He knew how daunting it could be for some people trying to figure out what to do with their lives, and though he had found his passion eventually, he would have liked to have been more educated on the subject of careers much sooner.

Standing at the table he'd been assigned, Ivanoff politely inclined his head to the few faces he recognised from within the Ministry, before clasping his hands behind his back and waiting for the young witches and wizards to start trickling into the fair, while trying not to look too intimidating.

He had been busy setting up his side of the stand when an older man approached him, presumably the other person who was here to talk about magical creatures. ''Hello,'' the former Prefect said while shaking the man's hand. ''I'm Marcel, Magizoologist.'' He had never met someone from the Beast Divison before so had tonnes of questions he wanted to ask Leon once he had introduced himself to him. ''So,'' Marxel began, ''Beast Divison, eh? What is that like?'' he asked, thinking he'd start with a simple question.

When Tristan heard about the career fair, he knew he had to go. He was starting his third year at Hogwarts after the break and that meant picking electives and what classes to drop. He didn't really know exactly what he wanted to do yet but he had figured out he wanted to work at the ministry. It seemed so... official, and important. He wanted to be seen that way too, and he wanted to make a change in the world.

He wasn't entirely sure what he wanted to do at the ministry yet, but there would be time to figure that out. The career fair was definitely a good time to get started with that, so he had arranged with his parents that his shopping trip for school supplies was on the same day as the fair. It wasn't hard to find, as there was a huge banner with a table underneath it.

Tristan looked around, he knew the Deputy Minister was the one organizing it and part of him really wanted to talk to him, but he didn't feel like he could just walk up to him right away. He passed the table with healers without much interest, as he already knew that wasn't his kind of work. The beast division wasn't it either, though it was closer by being part of the ministry. He finally stopped in front of a table with a single man behind it. 'Experimental Charms Committee', that sounded interesting, Charms was Tristan's favorite subject. He looked up at the man. "Uh, hi." He said, feeling very young suddenly. "I don't know much about wizarding jobs, but I know I want to work at the ministry. This is a ministry job, right?" He paused, thinking of a good question. "What does someone on the experimental charms committee do, exactly?

Rowan came just about the same time students were arriving. A tiny bit late from her fellow career employers, who were already at their post set up and ready to go. Rowan cursed, rushing towards the spot reserved for her department. Not like she would bait many students at her table if she had come early. What she did, many would never consider doing. But that was the point of well, being here? To enlight them and persuade their little minds into doing so. Rowan wanted to change the very negative perspective they may have already in her job. She herself, thought it was very rewarding. And could be dangerous too. But they will never know if they're never well inform. Rowan setup, even went as far as getting a fireplace magically charm by her booth. She had a big cardboard background on display, and pamphlets with about information of each means of wizarding transportation. She stood in front of the fireplace, handing out information from her table. "In case you want something to read? Here yar go! My name's Rowan, nice to meet cha!"

Leon glanced around noting how the others at the stands looked downright respectable and he looked his usual insubordinate self, he had chosen to wear his work clothes, his field work clothes - even his thick dragon skin gloves were still tucked in his belt, he had showered at least so didn't smell of dragon dung or anything else, he hoped. Marvel had told him he was a magizoologist and Leon nodded his head contemplating the notion of becoming one for all of five seconds, but as much as he could have gone that way - this is what he loved doing, the danger was what lured him in each and every time.

"It's alright, guess it depends on which department in the BD you're in, some are all red tape others are up to your neck in all sorts" he was being vague but he hoped Marcel wouldn't mind, especially as they would probably be repeating themselves all day long when people started showing up. He looked to the entrance and saw that a few already had and shoved his hands into his pockets.

"So Magizoologist ... are you going to open a magic zoo here in New Zealand?" he asked the man, hoping the answer was a resounding yes because that would be an amazing place for magical creature trainees to begin.

Marcel nodded when Leon began telling him what is was like working for the Beast Division even though he didn't quite understand what he told him but didn't ask about it any further. He had thought about working there before coming to the decision to become a Magizoologist but had eventually decided not to do so because he wanted to work with a wider range of magical creatures. Marcel frowned at Leon's question and shook his head. ''God no, I just started and am still very new to some of it. Besides, I would need to collect creatures which wouldn't be ideal at this stage since I'm still doing research on a lot of them.'' he told the older man truthfully, although the idea of owning his own zoo full of magical creatures did sound like an interesting thing to have at some point during his career.

Camila knew from her big sister that soon she would have to choose her electives and which direction she would want to go in career-wise but she felt wildly unprepared for that so she was glad to hear that there was a career fair for students like her. She wanted to be pragmatic about her choices and do what she was good at but that only was possible if she knew what options were available and as a muggleborn she knew so little of the opportunities. The girl walked into the fair feeling nervous that she was alone but she walked through the stands until she saw one for St. Mungo's. She knew very little about them except that they had tried to help her sister after the attack but she could never imagine herself as a Doctor. Still she said "Hello" to the man and woman standing there. "So... you're both doctors?" she asked, knowing the term was different for wizards but not caring too terribly about the difference.

@Tybalt & Paige.

It had been slow going getting out of the house today, but eventually they had arrived to Obsidian Harbour. The teenagers were lagging behind their parents, noticeably trying to separate themselves though there would have been no staying home today. It was a Ministry sponsored event and the Kingsleys needed to show up to show their support for the event, though all of the adults had agreed on the importance of the teenagers attending whether they wanted to or not. Cyndi Kingsley was keeping a closer eye than usual on her oldest son during this break, making sure he was keeping focused and not putting too much attention towards his girlfriend. He had his future to worry about, after all. Chatting quietly with Kiera and her husband about something that had been in the paper the night before, Cyndi paused only long enough to shout for Eleanor to slow down. Eleanor had rushed ahead, as she usually did, and was on the verge of getting lost in the crowd. Jacob rushed ahead and grabbed his sister by the hand, patiently leading her back to the group.

Eros, along with his older sister, Astraea, made their way to the fair. Astraea, had offered many times, a position to work as her manager. Eros thank his sister, as good as the sounded he wanted more than just a job to maintain his own. Eros had in mind to make a big difference in the wizarding world. But like all his other peers, he had no clue where to start. He took the fair as an invite, to new beginnings once Hogwarts was over. However, as he toured each table he felt no interest in them, no bridge connection. Eros was determine to at least leave this place with something in mind. If nothing conjure, he sure to go back to those rallies again. And maybe, just maybe starting out small with community work will do. There still enough fulfilment in working in small communities.

It wasn't long before the first youth approached his table, which Konstantin was thankful for. He could see a woman somewhat further down handing out pamphlets and advertising in a more active manner than he was, recognising her department as transportation. It was a little clever that she'd brought along a small fireplace, even if it did look a little odd to be there, and he briefly wondered if it worked. Perhaps he should have brought something along with him, though it was probably best that he went without an example of what a failed charm could look like.

"Yes, it is." The wizard confirmed as he was questioned on whether or not his job was within the Ministry. It is our job to oversee the development and applications of experimental charms both within the Ministry and out. We see it as important to continue to create new spells as our magical community progresses, and as the world continues to evolve. Most new spells come through this department after they've been trialed and cleared. If your parents are magical then they may have also participated in some of our surveys on public opinions of charms and their effect on society or the environment." The latter was a little on the more mundane side of the department, but it was one of their main interactions with the wizarding community as a whole.

When she saw all the people behind the tables Paige still had butterflies in her stomach. The students walked in and a girl stopped in front of their table. ''Hello'' Paige said while looking at the girl. The girl asked if they were both doctors, which made Paige smile. The word doctor was rarely ever used and Paige had to think when she heard it last. It was probably when she was still living in England. She had only heard the term healer, but she seemed so young and careless. ''I am Paige and I work as a social worker in the hospital'' Paige told in her English accent. After living in New zealand for two years she still had her English accent. Paige looked at Tybalt and waited for him to introduce himself. ''Is there something you want to know about our profession?'' Paige looked curiously and waited for the girl to respond. She was starting to like being at this fair.

Reisha loved her uncle very much and always had, he had always been a second father figure to her as he had lived in their home ever since she was a baby. She didn't hate him for bringing her to New Zealand, no matter how many times she had told him in anger and frustration that she did. He was only fulfilling her father's dying wish after all, so it was really him she should hate but how could you possibly hate a dead man? Deep down she knew he thought he was doing the best for her but if New Zealand and her mother's family had not been good enough for them while he had been alive why should it be good enough now? With so many thoughts plaguing her, Reisha had decided to get out of the house and leave waiting for the Hogwarts owl alone, it would either come and leave the letter or it wouldn't come. She couldn't continue to keep herself on tender hooks waiting for it, so decided instead to make her way to Obsidian to attend the careers fair that her uncle had been speaking about.

She was greatly interested in animals. loved them dearly and did want a career that had something to do with animals but she just didn't know what yet. Reisha had managed to get herself a job in the Owl Emporium working for Preston Paine who was dreamy and lovely and such a hard worker, the hours were good and the pay was great too ... it was only a summer job though, something to help with her savings for that all too important rainy day. She had thought there would be other stands that would have something in relation to magical creatures at it but the only one she could find was her uncles and she really didn't want to go and talk to him about anything. The other man that was with him however might have a different perspective on the field entirely and so she approached the stand and gave her uncle Leon a small smile before looking to the man along side of him.

"Hello, could you tell me what sort of careers are out there for people interested in working with animals... magical creatures?"

Amber had been very eager to get to the career fair, as she was starting to grow nervous about her inability to figure out what she wanted to do after school. Fourth year was coming up, and OWLs would be around the corner. She sometimes couldn't sleep at night, worrying she wasn't taking a class she would need later or would do badly on some essential OWL for her dream job. It would help a lot if she knew what that dream job was, as it would make it a lot easier to prepare for it.

She had agreed to take her sister Sophie, but the girl had drooped off as soon as the two had entered the fair, muttering something that Amber barely paid attention to. She glanced around, feeling a little lost. There were so many adults here with different tables, and it all looked slightly intimidating to her. She decided to head to a career path she was familiar with, walking over to the healer table. She heard some of the woman's talk to a younger girl and was surprised to hear she wasn't a healer but a social worker. "I thought only healers worked at St. Mungos." She said honestly. Healer had been a career path she had considered, but it didn't seem to fit her completely. She wanted to help people, but dealing with injuries and blood would scare her too much. Social worker actually sounded like something that was closer to her personality and she was immediately curious. "What sort of work do you do?" She hoped she wasn't being rude by intruding in the conversation, but she really wanted to know the answer.

Marcel smiled at the girl who approached their stand, ''Hi there, I'm Marcel,'' and nodded at her question. ''Well, that depends on if want to work with multiple creatures and study them, if you want to specialise yourself with only one, or if you want to deal with the duties and problems concerning magical creatures with different classifications,'' he told her, picking up a couple of pamphlets from both his side of the stand and Leon's side and handing them to the girl. ''See, there are a couple of different careers you could choose from if you are interested in working with magical creatures. You could become a Magizoologist like me and study magical creatures, or a Dragonologist, someone who specialises themselves with a certain breed of dragons. You could also become an employee of the Ministry of Magic and work for the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures under either the Beast, Being or Spirit Division, or the Goblin or Centaur Liaison Office.'' Marcel said. He looked up at Leon, wondering if he had something to add to this.

Tybalt looked at the woman who joined him at the table and smiled at her, "You must be Paige, I'm Tybalt," he introduced politely, he thought he'd certainly seen her before and it was likely he had. If they both worked at the hospital he was sure they'd have probably run into each other. But, that didn't really matter, what mattered were the students and others who were pouring into the area and getting grips with what was here. The former Gryffindor was not surprised when someone came to them and asked if they were both doctors. The word of course was healer but they were the magical equivalent to doctors. He gave a polite smile as Paige introduced herself, "I'm a healer, or doctor if you prefer to call me that, I work in magical bugs," he introduced himself to the girl before looking once more to Paige before nodding, "I can answer questions you might have about the differences between the muggle doctors and the healers?" he added this thinking that perhaps she was a muggleborn now torn between two professions that were pretty similar. And as another girl came up to them, but directed their question more towards Paige than himself he could give this other girl all the attention.

Leon listened to Marcel and thought the guy should collect the creatures now and do his research at the same time. There would be plenty of other magizoologists in New Zealand surely who would only be too happy to help out.

"Well ... if you ever need dragons ... just say the word, sending them to dragon reserves is all well and good but having eggs on hand in a magizoo would be a great crowd pleaser" he grinned, after they'd hatched they'd only be able to stay for the best part of nine months at the most at the zoo because by then they'd be pretty big in size and breathing fire that could burn a house down and their wings would be starting to strengthen as well. He didn't fancy any dragon being chained down at a young age, no matter how much he had to restrain the wild ones when he came across them.

He had thought the guy was on the young side so let the matter drop, Marcel obviously knew what way he wanted to go with his career and who was Leon to say any different. Turning his head he spotted his niece approaching the stand and smiled, convinced that she was coming to see him but when her own smile was a bit wan, he frowned wondering what was going on until she asked Marcel a question.

She could just have easily asked him these questions back home and crossed his arms over his chest as Marcel answered her as best he could, taking pamphlets from his own section as well as Leon's to give to her. Marcel looked to him and Leon exhaled before moving his hands to stuff them into his pockets instead.

"Yeah that's about right, there's also the pest advisory board and the office of misinformation in there but you really have to know just what sort of magical creatures you want to work with. Applying to the ministry doesn't mean you'll get your first choice, you might have to work in different departments within the three divisions long before that happens. You know ... work your way up but that helps in getting a good foundation behind you, plenty of experience" he told her, again thinking he could have told her all of this at home.
"There's always store work or reserves and sanctuaries that need good capable staff" he informed her waiting to see if she had anything else to ask.

Fleur wasn't even in school yet, though she would be starting Hogwarts in September, but she already knew what she wanted to be when she was older. So when she had heard on the radio about the Career Fair to be hosted in the country she would soon be living in for school, it had been her who had asked her parents if she could please go. There were probably more examples of situations where it was the other way around, but Fleur had known what she wanted since she was eight, and she was determined to learn more about how to get there.

Leaving her parents to deal with her younger siblings, neither of which had any interest in being here, she grabbed a drink before heading to the different tables. She only looked at most of the tables briefly, long enough to dismiss them as something she wasn't interested in, she stopped in front of a table with moving dragon miniatures and pamphlets that caught her interest. She gently touched one of the miniatures before looking up at the two men behind the table. There was an older blond girl at this table too, but Fleur barely paid her any mind. "Do either of you work with dragons?" She asked, eyeing them both. "I want to know everything about jobs with dragons." She said with a determined look on her face. Only then did she remember her manners. "Please." She added hastily, already gathering the different pamphlets on the table to take home.

Reisha smiled at the man who introduced himself as Marcel and began talking to her about specialising or basically just figuring out to begin with what she wanted to do as magical creatures was such a broad field. She had never even considered that really, especially when he mentioned the duties and problems that went with the different classifications. It all gave her serious pause for thought and she took the pamphlets that he handed to her with a nod and a thank you. He continued on explaining more about the ministry side of things before passing it over to her uncle who mentioned departments and divisions in the ministry she hadn't even heard of. There really was a lot more to magical creatures than she had been aware of.

She gave her uncle a wry smile when he mentioned store work as she had only recently gotten a job in the owl emporium and to the best of her knowledge her boss had mentioned on her first day something about a reserve or sanctuary, she decided to ask him about that. Thanking her uncle she turned again to Marcel, who had said he was a magizoologist. Anything about the ministry she could and would find out from her uncle, but this type of thing he wouldn't be able to discuss with her.

"What exactly do magizoologists do? How did you get into it ... are there certain subjects besides Care of Magical Creatures that I need to be taking?"
