Conan had been in a better mood since vacation. No pesky sister. No restrictions. No limitations. No irritations. No annoyances. No unwanted noises. Of course, it was almost like paradise for him, except for the fact that the whole vacation he was about to die from hunger, since he was no good in the kitchen, and he wasn't even the least willing to ask for a meal from Ai. Nope. He won't have it. But luckily, when they were welcomed once again to school, they had an all-you-can-eat feast and Conan was sure glad about that. Sorting had already taken place and there were sure to be a lot of irritating and nosy little first years in the bunch. He hoped he was wrong.

The Japanese boy hastily got out of bed, not-so-glad of his roommates noisy snoring. He quickly grabbed some clothes and headed for the bath. It was relaxing indeed since he was the only one awake, he had no need to rush, and classes were still not in place. Soon enough, he was out of the bath, done with breakfast and was now walking his way to the Courtyard. It was a nice place to spend time peacefully in the morning since not much students gathered there during the morning, since most were either at the Lakefront or at the Lawn. He walked around the empty courtyard and hoped that no one will bother him, disturb him and change his now good mood.

In short, Kaoru was glad he was at Hogwarts. It was exciting, even the school part was! Kao was glad he was learning everything he could, and with all the friends he had made. Ai and Ryu-senpai, along with some of those in his own year. It made this whole experience a lot more enjoyable then if he was just by himself all the time. Still, he usually woke up before some of his friends, and he had already showered and eaten. So now, he was going to explore some, and maybe make a new friend. Eh, one could hope, and Kao was rather optimistic.

Running into the Courtyard, the young Hufflepuff only noticed one person. And Kao couldn't help but notice he looked a bit like Ai. Still, a new friend, maybe? Bouncing with excitement, he jogged over to the boy, grinning. "Hey there!" He exclaimed, bouncing on the boy's shoulders before walking next to him. "My name's Kaoru! What's yours?"

Of course, being alone had always helped him think. And of course, being in a peaceful place also helps. It made his mind clearer and he was able to just be calm. He doubted that he would obtain such calmness again once classes start. He had gotten word that his sister would be attending classes once again, and he just won't have everything go her way. He planned to get back on attending classes as well and plans to do better than his sister. And nothing was going to stop him from doing so. He had already done a quick read on all he needed to know for the first lesson in each of his classes. Of course, he had the same classes as Ai, except for electives. He had no idea what the girl took up.

It was not long before peace became annoyance. Somebody had the courage to approach him. The wits to disturbed his peace. And the guts to act close with him. He admired that. But he was more annoyed than amused. He gave the boy a quick glare before shoving off the seemingly younger boy's hands. "A first year," he thought to himself in an annoyed way before looking back at the boy. "Annoyed. Don't care about your name," he said blandly. He didn't care and it wasn't even in his mind to know anything about the annoying boy in front of him.
