Daintree didn’t like school events, they were lame, and in his last school he would’ve done anything else to get out of it. But it seemed like that just wasn’t possible in this place, almost everyone attended the event so of course he would go too. He hadn’t made much of an effort with it. Just wearing his school shirt and some jeans without the tie. It wasn’t worth the effort to try any harder, this would be a couple of hours and then he could go do something else. He knew now that no matter how much he fought his father over the holiday he wouldn’t end up being allowed to quit and with so little to do, something, anything was better than nothing. Daintree arrived at the hall and rolled his eyes a little at the place. It was a little boring, seemed a little sad. He didn’t like it much. Over the top. He walked to the snacks tables and picked up something to eat. He didn’t understand why some of the people got so dressed up, this was just school not the oscars or something. Maybe he was being unjustly negative but that was largely all he could do.

Noel didn't actually thought he was a dancer and had no intention of going with someone to the ball. He didn't liked girls that way that Liam did. Not yet than, he was fine with spending time with them and all and have fun but to have a date or something was really freaking him out. So Noel decided to go alone and search for some friends and people he liked. He had put on something nice, since that seemed to be doing everyone but not a complete suit and all just like Liam. Noel walked into the great hall and looked around. They really had put some effort in the decorations again. Not that he looked much at it though, he thought girls did more or something. So he found his way over to the drink and food table and took something to drink. He than wanted to search for something delicious like a snack and when he did he noticed Dainstree. He had spoken to the boy once and shared lessons with him ofcourse. Noel was fine with hanging out with him if he wanted too and could use company as well. Noel took a sip of his drink and than smiled shortly. '' Hey Dainstree. Not a dance person as well?'' Noel than asked him with a grin. He thought of himself he couldn't dance so he would not make a fool out of himself.

Daintree glanced at Noel when the other boy greeted him. ”Not at an event like this,” he told him rather plainly, ”What about you? Surely with a name like Noel, you hate these events and this entire season,” Dain said to him, it was perhaps a bit of a dumb and unkind thing to say given that Dain didn’t have a name where he could make fun of others, but the opportunity had too good to turn up, and from what he’d learnt about Noel in the year he’d known him was that he tended to be okay with a few jokes. If he’d be okay with a joke like that, Daintree would find out. ”Are you here with someone, or flying solo?” Daintree wasn’t sure where the thought came from but he thought that Noel probably had absolutely no problems getting girls whenever he wanted them or boys. Daintree wasn’t really interest in the same or opposite sex yet so he didn’t care yet, but it was a thought that crossed his mind. Daintree thought that Noel had a much friendly vibe to him, more genuine too. But Dain didn’t care, if he was friends with Noel and that helped him overall, he wouldn’t care at all.

Noel grinned as Dainstree answered to him. He would not dance at an event like this. '' You dance at other events than?'' He than said teasing and was curious. Noel saw Liam in the back dancing with a girl. It was no surpise ofcourse, but he had to grin of it for a moment. He than grinned again at the question and his name and the christmas time. '' I don't really like dancing. And putting on a suit and everything. But it's nice to just have something else than lessons and all.'' Noel than explained and indeed he was not that of a fan of christmas, it was not his favorite holiday for sure. At the question if he was solo he nodded. '' Yeah I'm solo. Not that into going with a girl and all. That seems weird.'' Noel than said with a grin. Perhaps Dainstree thought differently but he didn't like the thought so far. Noel than took a bite of his snack. '' The snacks are good at least. You here with someone?'' He than asked in return.

Daintree gave a light grin at the response, ”Yeah, ones that aren’t this lame,” was his response but he knew that was perhaps being a bit harsh, what if Noel really liked this event. He wasn’t entirely surprised that the boy didn’t dance, he didn’t seem much like the type, like dain wasn’t much of the dancing type. ”Suits are stuff,” he told him, motioning to his own lack of suit, instead just wearing a shirt and some jeans, clearly not having made much of an effort. But he certainly had to agree, this was a whole lot better than the classes. ”Yes, so much better than classes and the bar is so low for it,” He knew he was being negative for the sake of being negative but he felt like he was owed as much. He was a little surprised at Noel’s lack of partner and lack of interest, but then who was he to say when he also wasn’t interested, it seem like just some of the people in their year were very interested in that sort of thing, ”Nope, just me and I’m only here for the snacks,”

Noel grinned at Dainstree his response. He was curious what Dainstree didn't thought of as lame. '' So what isn't lame than?'' He asked curious. He thought it was nice to get him to know better. Noel grabbed a snack from the table and took a bite out of it. Those were really good. He nodded at Daintree and was glad he thought the same. It was actually funny that he was here for the snacks. That seemed like a good option for him too. Since Noel didn't liked to dance or anything right now. He just wanted to hang out with people he liked and this was a good way of getting to know eachother well. '' Sounds fair. I guess I am too.'' He than said smiling back. Noel than figured it would be nice to ask him about with who he was hanging out, perhaps he knew. '' So made any nice friends around here? Or do you think the people are lame as well?'' He than asked with a grin.

Daintree rolled his eyes a little at the response which Noel gave, ”Anything that isn’t Hogwarts,” he told him. He wasn’t really meaning it, certainly not as much as he thought he might mean it. But it was a little bit of easy joking with the other boy. It wasn’t that all hogwarts events were bad, he just wasn’t interested in them. Not at all. The slytherin took another bite of the food as Noel said that he too was only there for the food. Daintree raised what he was eating in cheers and then smiled a little, ”Sure, I’ve met plenty of great people,” he didn’t really have a problem with the people at the school, they were occasionally a bit odd, but he knew that a magical person coming into his old world would likely have found some of the people at his old school lame. ”What about you? Made any nice friends?” he returned the question, but it felt a little pointless really. He wasn’t sure why Noel would care if he had any friends, if it was to rub it in, Dain could imagine he was a better liar than noel. ”How was your semester?” he asked, deciding it was an easier question to ask and answer.
