Bored

It was a compliment and an insult when Kate asked why Jake like London so much. He liked it simply because it was his home, it was where he came from. You just love the place where you were born, you couldn't help it in any way possible. At least that's what it felt like to him. "I was born there, did you think I was going to hate it" Jake asked in a sarcastic yet joking tone, he hoped that Kate wouldn't take it in the wrong way, he didn't mean it in a way that would insult her, he meant it in a stating the obvious sort of way. He wouldn't dare to be mean to one of his first friends at Hogwarts, or one of his first friends in New Zealand. Kate was both, he hoped that she appreciated that, he knew that he did. He was glad that Kate was one of his friends, she was trustworthy, sweet and Kind. He could never ask for a better friend.

It was comforting and knew, this hug that he had just received from Kate, Jake wasn't used to hugs but he hugged her back as tightly as she had hugged him, he wasn't about to throw away the friendship that he and Kate had. Jake meant it when he said that he would take her to Ireland, they had just met but it felt like a lot longer. Jake wasn't one to break promises, he would take her back, when they were a little older of course. Maybe when he was old enough to drive, he just needed to find out a way he could pay for it. He had never thought he was going to take somebody on a trip to another country but he had promised he was going to and he couldn't get out of it. Not that he wanted to get out of it, Kate was nice and Jake couldn't imagine going to Ireland with anybody else. "You're a good friend too, Kate" Jake said still trying to comfort her, she wasn't crying properly anymore but he wanted to make sure.

Kate looked at the mixed expressions on his face when she asked the question they only reason she had was because a few minutes ago when she had asked him where he lived he had had a mild panic attack and of coarse it was her curiosity getting the better of her.she smiled when he gave his answer she hadn't taken it as an insult she was used to the sarcastic comments because of her two sisters who were both the most sarcastic people in the world

She felt comforted by his hug and she immediatly felt better. She took a tissue from her pocket and wiped her eyes as best as she could. She knew her face and eyes were probably red but she didn't exactly care about her apperance at the moment. She was grateful to Jake for him to offer to bring her back to Ireland she would never forget it and she looked forward to it even though it was a long way away. "Thanks Jake"She said smiling she would never forget this day she was almost glad she had woken up early and had come down here. "What was the most best decision of your life"She asked knowing this question was out of the blue but she just wanted to get away from the topic of Ireland and she was also curious

Feeling good about still talking to Kate, Jake managed another smile, it felt easy to smile around Kate and it felt normal talking to her, because he had been void of positive human contact for a while, it felt like a new beginning, something Jake had wanted for a while and it felt great to be finally getting a new beginning, Kate brought out the confidence he needed in himself to make more friends. Not that he needed more or anything, Kate seemed like all the friend he needed at the moment but it couldn't hurt to have more, right? Jake wanted more friends and he wanted to be more confident in himself but he didn't want to be taken advantage of once again. It had plagued him for a while. He wanted to stop thinking so negatively but he had thought like that for an extended amount of time and old habits die hard.

As Jake watched Kate wipe her red eyes with a tissue, he noticed that she wasn't doing very well in drying her tars. He thought it was a little funny, a smirk appeared across his face. Kate obviously didn't care about how she looked but it was fine with him, he admired that Kate had enough confidence not to care about her looks like a lot of other girls. Jake couldn't wait until they both went to Ireland, he would need to organize everything so that Kate would feel like a princess. He didn't know exactly how much it cost but he guessed it would cost a lot considering the flights and the accommodation. He would probably have to start saving now. "You're welcome, Kate." Jake said, while a feeling of anxiety entered him once again. He had no idea how he would be able to pull it off but he knew that he would for Kate and Jake never broke promises. "Probably, not trying to meet new people, it's the main reason why I don't have many friends." Jake stated, it was true every word of it. "What about you?" He asked in an inquisitive tone.

Kate noticed that Jake was smiling a lot more then he was when she first met him.She was happy about that one of the things she loved was to see a smile on other peoples faces it made her feel happy. But she felt sad for people when they were alone and not smiling it sometimes made her cry for that person.she thought that it made herself weak because she cried so easily but her parents had always told her it was the best part of her personality

Kate saw him smirk when he saw her face she gave him a playful punch "Its not nice to smirk at other peoples face"She said smiling. She didn't care at all she probably looked terrible at the moment but it wasn't like she cared.Kate kept thinking about the trip to Ireland it was a few years away but it never hurt to plan ahead.Money of course would be no problem because of her family's new found wealth she could easily pay for everything she didn't want Jake to pay the fact he wanted to bring her was enough. "You know you won't have to pay for anything"She said grinning she had a feeling he didn't and he might possibly protest but it would matter Kate would pay for it whether he knew or not.Kate wondered why anybody wouldn't want to be friends with Jake he was so nice and caring nothing like some of the Slytherins she knew. She wondered how that was his best decision but she didn't say anything. "I guess it was to be open about making new friends like I didn't judge anybody on their house and because of that of have loads of great friends who are not in my house."she said smiling. This was basically true she never usually made decisions of her own it had always been her and Sara so it wasn't until she came to Hogwarts that she had started making her own decisions. "Okay I want you to ask my a question it can be on anything"Sh e said smiling this was a game she often played at home.

Jake found it funny when Kate playfully punched him. He let out a laugh, the punch didn't hurt in the slightest and he laughed harder when it didn't hurt. Kate was starting to become really funny to him and he didn't really know why. Maybe it was because she was a girl and she had enough guts to punch him, an underweight boy that didn't have many friends without it hurting. Still, he continued to laugh. The mood of the conversation had changed completely, from a sad one to a funny one. Jake loved it, he loved how rapidly things changed around Kate. "Sorry, You just look like such a goofball." Jake said in a joking tone while trying to hold back some more laughter. He thought Kate looked funny and he hoped that she didn't mind, she seemed too confident to be bothered by it but Jake wasn't sure. He was still trying to hold back laughter when Kate said that he didn't have to pay for anything, he really thought he should, he was supposed to be taking Kate on the trip and since he was he would have to pay for her. "Um, are you sure?" He asked, the laughter felt like it was fading away but he wasn't sure. If Kate was offering then it would be rude not to accept, it would be a whole lot easier on him if she paid for it but just in case she couldn't he wanted to make sure he had some money stored away. "Cool, making your own decisions is one of the most mature things you can do." Jake said with an inquisitive nod. He wasn't sure what he wanted to ask Kate , heck, he had no idea what he wanted to ask her at all. He said the first thing that came to his mind. "Do you like... Chocolate?" Jake asked while he started laughing again, the question felt so random to him that it was funny.

Kate laughed when Jake laughed at her useless punch "I never intended it to hurt"she said laughing with Jake. She had never meant it to hurt it was something she did often Hey I'm sure if I knew that word I would be more insulted but since I .don't I will ignore the comment"She said jokingly of course she knew goofball wasn't even a word or not in her vocabulary anyway. She saw him having an argument in his head when she said she would pay for it.She was going to pay for it all even if she had to do it in secret. "Yes I am sure and I won't go with you if you pay"She said smiling of course she would go anyway but she would feel better if she paid it wasn't like she was going to use the money for anything else it would be nice to spend it on somebody else while still getting the benefit of it.She grinned "Well thank you for that piece of information"She said. She looked around her and she saw that the place had filled up since she had first come here it was funny how time flew when you were having fun. ""Seriously thats the first question you came up with"She said laughing with him "I LOVE chocolate what about you"She asked still laughing

Feeling another fit of laughter come across his pale face, Jake managed a crooked smile, he thought that everything at that moment was absolutely hilarious. He started laughing again when Kate admitted that she didn't know what a goofball was. "It's not an insult Kate, I wouldn't do that." Jake said just able to keep a straight face. "It means that you look, Silly." Jake said while laughing harder. He thought it was adorable that Kate didn't know the word. He was happy to explain it to her though, he would do pretty much anything for Kate and explaining a word was nothing compared to what he would do. He was dedicated to his friends even though he only had a few. Jake wanted to pay for everything on that trip but he had a feeling that Kate wasn't going to take no for an answer and that she would pay for all of it. It was a bit of a relief for him, he wouldn't have to work so hard but he still wanted a little credit, he knew that he had some, it was his idea to take her to Ireland and that might be enough. "If you really want to Kate." Jake said with a smile, he wanted to do whatever he could to make Kate happy and this was something he could do easily. The courtyard wasn't completely barren anymore, there were more people around. It made Jake wonder how long they had been talking. "Yes, I couldn't think of anything else." Jake said while sticking his tongue out, he was acting completely different from his usual self, he was being social. Kate had brought that out in him. "I love anything sweet so chocolate is a must." Jake said enthusiastically.

Kate smiled when she saw Jake trying not to laugh his face looked so pained from trying not to laugh she burst out laughing "Your face looks really funny"She said between fits of laughter. She was really liking this conversation it was so different from when they had first started to talk "Haha Jake sure like that isn't an insult"She said rolling her eyes but still smiling. For some reason she was really happy right now and she knew it was because of Jake he seemed so different now since he had started talking to her and this made her very happy. "Well I guessed that much"She said sarcastically punching him again but a small bit harder. She had a feeling that Jake would doing anything for her and it made her feel special and she also found it adorable that he would do anything for her he was kind of like the big brother she never had except that he wasn't that much older than her and she knew from that moment she would be able to go to him for anything. This made her so happy that she gave him a big hug she didn't say anything and she hoped he knew what she meant."I see, so the first thing that came to your mind was chocolate I wounder what you thing about Jake"She said curiously and bursting out laughing she could see people looking at them curiously wondering why they were laughing so hard there was tears in her eyes from laughing so much. "Well I agree with you there I can't leave without sugar"She said laughing "Okay so other then sugar what can't you live without"She asked still laughing

The laughter that Jake was trying to contain was a little too much but he was still able to contain it a little better now, mostly because he felt a little more serious now. He knew exactly why, the outburst of laughter that he had before had make him a little exhausted, he was laughing hard enough, why wouldn't he be? He looked away from Kate, at a different group of people and noticed they were staring at the both of them. Actually, most of the people the were now in the courtyard were staring at them. Jake would have usually minded this but he didn't that day. It was because of Kate and the confidence she brought out in him. "My face is always funny." He said pulling an obvious silly face at Kate. "It isn't now." Jake said as he looked back at Kate, the group of people were still staring but again, he couldn't care less. After Kate punched him again, he busted out with laughter once again. Kate was really weak and so was he, she couldn't even hurt him. He had thought the laughs were gone but they weren't, Jake had guessed wrong again. Kate seemed to have a slight change of mood, she went from being completely goofy and funny to being serious, Jake couldn't tell why and it made him feel a little uncomfortable. Although, once Kate hugged him he felt a little better. He hugged back and was just a little confused as to why Kate was suddenly hugging him. "I think about a lot of different things, Kate." Jake said as he raised one eyebrow, he was trying to look intelligent, in a joking way of course. "Sugar is the food of gods Kate, we mustn't anger them by eating it all, even though it brings warm fuzzies to our mouths." Jake said as jokingly as before. Since they both liked sweet foods, he hoped that Kate would find his remark funny. He smiled at her and laughed again, still ignoring all the weird looks they were getting.
