The Bi-Weekly Update
It is the second weekly update of this year, and as we all know, it is a busy time for Hogwarts New Zealand. And this is my own personal version of the weekly update, so let's see how those updates are coming along, Kaitlyn's style.
Character Spotlight
A big round of applause for the spotlighted character Tony Alraur! His amazing and detailed biography earned him this award, and because of that brought him recognition for the spotlight. He even had a table of contents in his biography, which is a plus, and also for how well developed it was, it could be a role model for the new members developing their characters. Y8 Concluding and Y9 Beginning
As Y8 comes to a conclusion, the Feast has been posted here so before the Y9 start, go post here! The exams have been posted and (more than likely) graded so go check out what you have made, especially those who were taking the all important OWLs and NEWTs. The groups have been promoted, Head Girl and Head Boy have been chosen as well as Prefects! They will be listed below. Remember, it is still Y8 so wrap up your roleplays and prepared for a drama-filled and exciting Y9, which starts on January 25[sup]th[/sup]! The main announcement can be found here.

Sorting and Transfers
It is that time of 'year' again, for those unsorteds and those hoping to be transfers can put in their forms and see if the hat will put them in the right houses, as it always does. For those not having any character transferred or sorted as a first year can watch the hat do its magic and laugh at the witty comments it makes.

The Twi-Wizard Tournament
This is exciting for the lot of you, as seen in General Discussions as I have watched members talk about how exciting it is. Keep an eye out for more information this week. You already know where it is taking place: hosted in France!
Hint from the HNZ Staff: It is going to be awesome!
Another hint for Sign-ups: Whenever Nick feels like releasing that information. So, be nice to him, no harassing him (he has to deal withe first years, give him a break!), and it might happen sooner rather than later.
I am not entirely sure bribing him with cookies and candy will work either for more hints.
Graphics Challenge
The cover for the Yearbook of Y8 is now ready for members to vote for it! Good luck to those entering and taking the time to make a few awesome covers! Other members, best go vote before it closes! Vote here!

Be Patient!
The Administrators are in a tough situation right now, so please be patient with any applications you have put through. There is the TWT and sorting to deal with momentarily, and they apologize for your long wait, but it just might be for the best. Please, patience is a virtue and don't harass them over slow applications. The Administrators are doing their best so patience is required.
New Global Moderator!
Hogwarts New Zealand has a new Global Moderator, Aleyha Devearux, also known as Kaitlyn, and she will be happy to help you with anything you need. (I know I am talking about myself in third person.

Halfway House: Opened!
As brought upon us in the Suggestions, Hogwarts finally has a Halfway house for the children who don't have legal guardians and those who do not wish to return home and go there to stay (though will need written permission from the parents ) We hope to see this used and a popular/useful addition to the site, so if you want a student or character to stay there, just remember the rules on top of the forum, and you will do fine. The Hogwarts Halfway House!

There is an announcement just for you and do not disturb old roleplays that are still set in Y8. The announcement! If you wish to roleplay, best do so in the areas outside of the castle for the time being. Now is the best time to do your shopping!
