Devlin had face scrutiny from her daughter's mishap at the Britain Ministry of Magic when the holidays was over and he was back at work. He didn't understand how one boy could end a family's relationship. His aunt refuse to take his apology but it was her daughter's fault in the first place and the first to fire a spell from his sister's wand. Although his muggle work hasn't affected him that much until he got a call from his secretary that he'll be taking a child abuse case, a first for him. Devlin hadn't been the greatest dad in the world but he never laid a hand on Teagan ever but he didn't doubt that Camilla did it many times. Going to work that morning and was ready to drive up to Armagh when their trusted butler alerted him that he has a visitor. He frowned, curious who would be visiting at that early morning. Devlin came down to greet the visitor only to be surprised that it was his goddaughter, Paisley. She looked tired and dirty. "Your lordship, Miss Aberdeen just arrived on a cab and was taken care off already." The butler informed him. Devlin nodded, "She must be hungry, prepare her some food and a bath." The Marquise asked politely. The help understand and went on to do his duty tasked. Why would her father do this? Is he looking for her? Those are the questions that keeps buzzing in his head. With his work case and this, he can't handle to be worried for his own daughter.

The night before was cruel to her. Paisley Aberdeen was thrown out on the street by her own father who didn't think what would happened to a ten year old walking around the unsafe road of Newry. She was crying the whole time, the girl was walking all night until a good Samaritan stopped for her, a cab driver. The driver asked her where she lives but didn't want to go back to their estate because of how she was treated by her father upon witnessing what she did. It scared her too. Even though she didn't have any money or anything on her, she asked to be taken in Whitecross. The driver didn't said anything except she should get in. It was dangerous, she knows but she didn't want to be on the dark street, alone.

With seventeen minutes of driving and she'd taken a nap. They arrived in Whitecross, only to be asked where specifically she wanted to go. Paisley was at a lost because she didn't know her godfather's last name. But she knows how to explain the house they live in and lucky, the cab driver knows who owns the place. The only family who has a big house in Whitecross. Arriving, they were greeted by the home's butler. Paisley thanked the driver but of course, the butler paid the travel. The little girl waited for her godfather and once he arrived down to the living room, she smiled at him and run to hug him. "Don't take me back." Paisley whispered to her godfather.
