Beauxbatons,PracticeWith eight hundred and twenty points scored during their last major practice session, Brendan was confident in both his team and their imminent victory over the foreign school at the end of the year. They'd done so well, better than he'd ever seen in practices prior, and he was looking forward to seeing what this next practice would bring. Could they beat their own score? They'd set the bar so high now that it seemed so unlikely to achieve it again, but the redhead told himself they could only get better, if anything. With a handful of inexperienced players seeming to have a natural talent for their roles, it was just a matter of training that skill and taking it even further.

Rather unfortunately, it was raining on this particular day. Not exactly a heavy storm, but it wasn't a particularly light drizzle, either. It didn't help that it was a cold month, either, and he wasn't sure if he would have preferred it to be snowing. Brendan tutted, standing on the edge of the pitch with his foot on the quidditch supplies chest, and his broom slugged over one shoulder. They couldn't reschedule, and he supposed it was to be expected at some point. They couldn't always play one a clear day, and it was another level of difficulty the team would have to learn to be accustomed to. Using an Impervius Charm on his face in an effort to deflect the water from hindering his vision, Fulke waited for the others to arrive, happy to help the younger players out with a charm too if necessary, though most of them were old enough to help themselves out. It was their last opportunity to get a practice in before the Christmas period, and they had to make the most of it before their break.

Note: It's raining

OOCOut of Character:
Practice will be open for two weeks! As always, activity is crucial to the success, and the future of this team on the site, so please do your best to participate. If you can't make a practice, or no longer feel like you can be on the team, please PM Abby or myself.

Even with Elvira's confidence, she knew it was unlikely this practice session would be as big as success as the last. Still, she was eager to take on that challenge and start trying. Her eagerness was dampened somewhat by the rain, and she couldn't help frowning a little as she looked up at the sky. Elvira wasn't a fan of the cold, and rain would make everything wet which would make everything feel much colder than it was. Hopefully it would be better in New Zealand, as she would visit over the holidays. She hadn't told her teammates aside from Celine about that, fearing they would think she was sharing team secrets. With her arms crossed in front of her and her hood up, she made her way over to where Brendan stood. She gave him a smile that felt more like a grimace and a wave. "Hey Cap."

Fletcher was pleased with how well she'd done in their last practise session, and even though she'd been keeping up with her lessons, it was Quidditch that she was most excited about. She wanted to get to know more of the players on the team, but it was difficult as they were spread across all the years. Today it seemed they had another challenge ahead of them too as the rain was pouring, making ensure that she was dressed for the weather she headed outside to meet her team, hood up and covering her wild fire hair as she found two other students already there. "Hey," Fletcher gave them a small wave, hoping she wasn't interrupting a conversation they'd been having before her arrival. Her arm had healed nicely from the last match and she hoped she would manage to escape this game more or less unscathed.

Cassi showed up at the pitch for the second practice that year. It was raining and this was one of the difficult weather conditions during a game. Casting an Impervius charm on herself to somehow deflect some of the rainwater, she could not shake the coldness she would feel once practice began. Brendan, Elvira, and Fletcher were already there and she smiled at them in greeting as she stood beside Elvira. Glancing back at the castle, she wondered how long they would have to wait for the others to show up.

Jamie arrived at the pitch excited, despite the fact he'd probably be completely soaked by the end. it didn't matter this was going to be the most fun anyway. He had his broom in hand and was waving at the others who had arrived at the pitch, "Bonjour!" he greeted them warmly, having really enjoyed the growth of the team. Well he loved quidditch so of course he would love this. The teen couldn't wait till they got started and he moving around on his feet because of that excitement but also because he knew he needed to keep warm.

Usually Celine was happy to have practice for Quidditch, but as soon as she had realised today's would be held during the rain she had started mumbling under her breath every chance she got. There was just nothing about this type of weather that agreed with her, and she always ended up looking like a drowned rat at the end of being out in it. She was doing alright now, holding her broom in one hand and performing an Umbrella Charm with the other as she trekked across the soggy pitch towards the rest of the team, but that wasn't going to be possible once she was up in the air. She could already feel drops of water working their way into her Keeper's gloves, and shaking the affected wrist irritably Celine once again hissed her favourite phrase of the day, "Putain de pluie!" She wasn't concerned if her teammates heard her as she drew closer, they might as well know her feelings on the subject. Huddling herself on the other side of Elvira, Celine tried to hold her wand up over herself, her friend and Cassie on the far side, but wasn't gracious enough to let herself be uncovered at any point. If they were all going to be soaked soon anyway, she may as well save her own skin while she could.

Theodore was looking forward to the latest practice, feeling competent after the last match and how well he thought he had done, and knowing he still had a long way to go, and could do even better. Despite being an alternate, it was really easy to feel like an important part of the whole team, and he was hoping to be able to retain his position for the coming years. It was a concern that, with him being so young, someone bigger and better might come along and shunt him to the side, ruining his chances of even becoming a full-time seeker, but he chose not to focus on that, not yet. Joining the others at the pitch, the boy had help getting an Impervius charm, and waited for the practice to commence.

Brendan greeted the others as they approached, idly conversing while he waited for the rest of the team showed up. Deciding enough time had passed for everyone to say hello and get prepared, the redhead got things underway. "Alright, listen up people. I know the weather sucks, but just pull through, do your best. It's just another challenge, and after our last practice, I think you all need more of a challenge for doing so well. Keepers, go pick a side to guard. Now let's go!" He said, kicking open the supplies box to release the snitch and bludgers. Taking the quaffle under his arm, he took to the skies, and tossed it into the air for one of the other chasers to take possession of.

The rain didn't seem to be letting up as the practice started, and Elvira sighed. They would just have to deal with it. She grimaced at Celine, who seemed even more bothered by the rain than she was. The practice soon started and she took to the air quickly. It was colder up in the air, but at least she had her task to distract her with. Her gaze moved over the pitch as she started her search.

Fletcher was quick into the air as she followed her teammates, doing her best to ignore that rain the tpojred down on them from the skies. With her bat in hand she immediately set off for the bludger, and shocked herself when she managed to hit it towards Elvira who'd already begun her hunt for the snitch. She watched as the ball sailed past her target, smacking itself straight into the blonde Keeper instead. It was going to be a messy game.

Cassi listened as Brendan gave brief instructions. When he kicked the box open, she also kicked off the ground to fly towards the hoops where she was assigned before. Just as she turned to face the pitch, Fletcher hit a bludger which made its way to Elvira yet passed her and found its mark on Celine. Cassi groaned at this. It was too early to take in a bludger hit and on this rainy condition.

As she saw Fletcher hit a bludger, she felt proud for a fraction of a second before she realized it was coming straight at her, cursing in Spanish, she dodged out of the way. Turning, she then saw to her dismay that it had hit Celine instead. Now she wished she had let it hit her, feeling guilty for the pain of her best friend. Forgetting about the snitch for a moment, she flew over at her. "Are you okay?" She asked, concern clear on her face.

Fletcher grimaced as the bludger made contact with the keeper, and she nervously called out an apology, quickly flying off to try and redeem herself. If only she would be able to hit it once they were against Hogwarts. She wiped at her eyes on the back of her sleeve, trying to peer through the rain in search of the ball.

Theodore followed the others into the air, immediately setting off in his pursuit of the snitch in an effort to try and get another decent start to the match. Already, it seemed like someone had been hit by a bludger, but the young boy didn't let it distract him, searching for the tell-tale glimmer of gold. Without the sun out for it to reflect light from, Theo was concerned it'd be more difficult to find, when suddenly he spotted it, clear as day against the grey, dull clouds. Shooting off after it, the seeker reached his hand out, fingertips closing over the snitch in a matter of seconds. He looked at it in his hand, a little dumbfounded at how easy it had been. He was expecting the rain to make it more slippery than ever, but perhaps the rain was hindering its flight. "I caught the snitch. Just letting everyone know." Theodore called out, waving the golden ball in the air before releasing it once more to flit around the pitch.

Brendan watched the players from above, frowning slightly as already a beater had managed to hit one of their teammates. Hopefully all this friendly fire wouldn't carry on over to the overseas match, and they'd focus on the more unfamiliar targets instead. The chaser didn't have too much time to focus on whether or not they were alright from the hit, before Theodore called out something about the snitch. Thinking it was just a question, and that there was no way the second year had caught it already, Brendan turned around to ask him to repeat himself, realising then that the boy was actually holding the snitch. "Well done! Keep it up and you might have Elvira's spot at the end of the year!" He teased, shooting the female seeker a grin before flying off to keep watch over the other chasers.

Fletcher thought she was having a tough time trying to posts the bludgers in this weather but it was nothing compared I what the seekers were having to deal with. That didn't seem to be much of an issue though as a few seconds later she heard alone of the calling out, and the third year cheered, taking her eyes off the other balls for a moment. If they kept it up, any team that came against them at Hogwarts wouldn't even get a chance to be off the ground by time they'd been beaten.

Elvira had lost focus of her duty for only a minute, but apparently it was enough time for the young seeker to upstage her once again. She saw him with the snitch and couldn't help feeling a little irritated. Though mostly with herself. Shooting Celine a quick, concerned smile, she forced herself to get back into the game. She wanted to get the snitch too. Brendan's comment rubbed her the wrong way and she rolled her eyes and didn't answer. He was probably joking, but the thought of being replaced wasn't funny to her. She elected to ignore his comment and flew around to look for the snitch.

Feeling great after his success, Theodore resumed his search for the snitch, scanning the grey skies for the sign of the golden orb once again, but for now it appeared to be lost in the pouring rain. Hearing Brendan's comment, he chuckled slightly, happy to take the compliment, though he knew there was no chance of the possibility of him actually replacing a player like Elvira. He might have been doing well for a beginner, but she was so much more experienced, and practically what he was hoping to be just like as he got older.

Theodore caught the snitch shortly after Celine got hit. Cassi cheered though felt a bit sad for Elvira. Brendan's comment added salt to the wound. Checking on Elvira,Cassi was relieved her friend ignored it as Elvira continued to search the skies. Cassi, wiping her face as if to free it from rain, was on guard for oncoming quaffles.

The rain was causing parts of the young girls hair to stick to her face, but that didn't stop her from putting all her attention into what she was doing. Natural weather conditions were something she'd gotten used to at home, and if she didn't Go out during tough weather then, sometimes her family wouldn't eat. Spotting a bludger in the distance, Fletcher raced after it, knowing she would be aiming it towards the younger seeker this time of she had the chance. It wasn't thst she ended to hit him, but since he was so good at cafxhinf the snitch it was likely he'd be asked one day to play in a real game, and she didn't want him to not be able to dodge one.

Celine wasn't too happy to give up her makeshift umbrella in order to take flight, but it had to be done - even if she couldn't help letting out a small growling noise at the feeling of rain already beginning to drip down the back of her neck as soon as she put her wand away. Mounting her broom and heading off towards the northern hoops, Celine had only given her surroundings a passing glance as she streaked towards the end of the pitch ahead of any potential chasers - something she paid for in the form of the sudden shock of pain that lanced through her hip from a bludger hit. "Merde," Celine sucked in a sharp burst of air. "It's too early for this crap." She hadn't seen where the ball had come from, but was aware of Elvira coming over to see how she was. Thankfully the hit didn't seem to be so bad for now, so she reassured her friend with a nod and continued on towards the hoops. Swinging around to face the pitch, Celine didn't see any chasers in her immediate vicinity yet - although the rain was restricting her vision, which didn't improve her mood.

Elvira's mood was bad, mostly from the rain. She didn't blame Brendan for his comment or Theodore for catching the snitch, but she wanted to at least catch it once now too. What if she didn't? She'd look really bad. But as far as she could see, it was nowhere in sight yet.

Keeping an eye on everyone in the rain was proving to be particularly difficult. While a lot of the droplets bounced away from his face, barred by the impervius charm, it didn't help with the droplets further away, partially obscuring his long-distance vision. He had no clue who had the quaffle currently, and worse still, where the bludgers were. Hopefully the beaters were keeping track of them.

Theo was feeling rather damp. and the water collecting in the bristles of his broomstick made it feel a little bit heavier than it actually was. The boy quickly jerked the broom around, attempting to flick some of the gathered water away, and continued his search for the snitch.

Fletcher could barely see through the torrents of water, and the last thing she needed was to be hit by a bludger herself because she couldn't figure out its location. Her head darted in all directions, trying to find the other two beaters to see whether they were having as much trouble as she. "We have to work together," she found herself shouting through the rain. No one said it was against the rules to give each other a little helping hand. "Snitch!" She yelled suddenly as she saw the gold ball fly past her head. She knew if they were against a team it would have put them at a disadvantage, but since they were practising and becoming more accustomed to playing in the rain she figured it couldn't hurt.
