Lumio did not often come to the arts room, while he liked to think of himself as creative he knew he wasn’t. He was creative in specific ways and in only those ways. The boy was a little bored really, he was finding it good to be back at school, but as people adjusted to the school schedule and began doing work, there was just a little drop in people that he could interact with. The boy had therefore decided to come to the arts room, because much like the kitchen it was just a little something, a little place he could go to mess around in. The boy’s last experience of the arts room had been running into Emerson, and though he didn’t know the boy all that well he’d been doing something creative and Lumio who wasn’t particularly creative thought it would be good to take some inspiration from someone else. He thought it would be useful for him. Lumio walked into the room and masked some disappointment to the empty room over not seeing him, but that was no matter, he was here to be creative. He took some paper and some paints and began haphazardly painting, perhaps even just going through the creative motions would help him be less bored.

Emerson wandered the halls of the castle trying to come up with something to do. He didn't have any homework yet, it being so soon into the first semester of the year. The break had gone well, getting to go home and it being summer there was a nice retreat from the cold southern hemisphere. Soon spring would be starting here in New Zealand and he looked forward to the change. It would be mean rainy days and nights, his sleep would be much more peaceful with that to fall asleep to. At home he had a little fountain like thing that you could change the noises it would make, it could sound like a light rain, a heavy storm, a waterfall, waves. He missed having it, the noise always making him feel relaxed and comfortable. Here he had to make do with the snores of his roommates. Having no thoughts of what could be better, the young boy decided to head to the arts room. He found himself to be not the most creative person, last year his attempt at a bird was terrible. But still it passed the time and helped him make friends. Entering the room he spotted Lumio, the guy he'd met there last year. "Hey Lumio, decided to try out arts for yourself?" He asked approaching to see what the Gryffindor was painting.

Lumio looked up as someone ended the entering the room, and in fact it was exactly who Lumio had just been thinking of. ”Emerson!” he greeted warmly and loudly, clearly very happy to see the other boy. He put down the paint brush and wiped his hands on his jeans and then held out a hand to the boy as he approached, ”I did!” he said but looked down at his piece of work and realised though not for the first time that he was really not good at arts and crafts. He could cook when he wanted to and he could imagine things pretty well, but putting it to paper was a very different issue. Lumio smiled at Emerson, ”I’m not very good, but even da Vinci had to start somewhere right?” he joked though mostly about da vinci not about practicing. He knew if he tried more and focused more he could find something, ”Do you want to join me?” he offered to the other boy. He wouldn’t mind the company, he had come to this room because it was where he had met Emerson before and had been seeking out the boy without contacting him. He wouldn’t have minded being alone the whole time but this was better.

Emerson was glad he had managed to make friends with a few people in his first year. He really hoped to see those that were in different houses in a few classes this year. He glanced over the painting that Lumio was doing while the Gryffindor spoke. He wasn't quite sure what he was looking at nor who da vinci was. "Well, it looks nice, I like the color of green here," Emerson said being a fake critic. Really having no idea what he was looking at in the painting made him unsure if anything good was in it. But he knew if he painted it would look quite worse in comparison. He didn't have an eye for colors that would fit well, the painting would probably look similar to a 5 year old's. Emerson had come to the room to do something fun so he nodded to the question and sat down looking around at all the options they had to play with. "Did you go to Italy and get some summer holiday in?" He asked as he opened a container of molding clay.

Lumio smiled happily as Emerson complimented part of his paint, even if it wasn’t particularly good. It was just fun to mess around a bit like they were. Painting in his mind would never be something he excelled at, he didn’t need to excel at it. He just needed to be able to have fun with it, and that was what he was having there. He put down the paint brush as Emerson asked about his holiday, ”I did, it was good, very different from the summers here and a nice escape during the winter,” Lumio said with a warm expression, he had definitely enjoy his break, he had liked going somewhere he knew and seeing all of his family, it was nice to get away from everything and just spend time there. ”Did you go anywhere over the break?” he could note that Emerson had taken out some clay to do some arts and crafts with, but Lumio was happy to keep with his painting.
