Charlie was feeling really down, and decided not to go partying tonight. Instead she decided she would go to the beach, considering they live right on the coast. She bathed in the moonlight waiting for some stranger to approach her in her skimpy, but suitable outfit. When no one came she decided to take a quick dip in the cool, moonlit ocean to pass the time until her mom got home from her cocktail party.

Never before had Charlotte Edwina Williams ever gone out after hours. New Zealand was bringing out the worst in her. They were allowed out this night since it was Halloween, but still Charlotte felt like she was breaking the rules. It didn't help that a few of the older girls had forced Charlotte to change out of her uniform and into something that they called casual but Charlotte called indecent. She had been forced to put on a pair of shorts, which barely touched the top of her knees. When the girls had left, Charlotte had pulled on a pair of long black tigh high socks. She had also taken a large jacket, which she had brought from England.

Charlotte had followed a few girls from her year and when they had passed a beach, Charlotte Edwina Williams, broke off and walked towards the waters edge. She took off her shoes as she walked along the sand. Edwina noticed a girl sitting herself. She ignored the girl for now, and just took a seat at the edge of the water. You could never do this in England. There were no beaches like this one. This beach was simply amazing. She wondered why known of the other girls had told her about them. Maybe it was because they thought as a rich and powerful, posh 10 year old english girl that she would hate such things as beaches. But Charlotte could almost claim to loving them. She prefered swimming pools, as you could control the water temperature and you knew exactly what was in the water, but they weren't comparable to the marvelous beaches.

Feeling a little more comfortable with her surroundings, Charlotte Edwina Williams pulled off her jacket and sat upon it. In the moonlight her golden blonde hair, was the same darkness as the sand on the beach. Only reflecting some of the rays of the moon. Her green eyes, shone in the light, and reflect the shining stars. Charlotte, was loving it. She looked round to the girl that was sitting herself, and feeling, just that little bit more confident waved.

Charlie was out of the water and back on the sand drying in the moonlight until she noticed the girl. She was overdressed for a night at the beach, so she wondered what she was doing. Charlie strod over to the girl when she saw her wave. "Hi, I'm Charlie May, what are you doing in all of those clothes?" Charlie didn't mean to be rude, but it was just in her nature to ask questions outloud.

As she was in a good mood, Charlotte Edwina Williams did not find it at all weird that the girl who had been herself walked over to join her. If she was feeling espiecally aware of her surroundings and the people in the surround Charlotte would have felt a little bit awkward. Charlotte did not know that a wave meant come on over. Rather she had believed it to merely be an in formal way of saying hello. Of course Charlotte Edwina was still learning the general modern young culture. And so in her good mood, she need not try to appear happy and not surprised. Edwina was happy and smiling until the girl asked about her clothes. Charlotte looked down at her clothes. They were fine. Modest and decent. The same could not be said about the girl sitting now next to her. And even Charlotte did not think she was that well dressed. Others had forced her into the indecent clothes she had to wear socks with. Edwina looked at the girl, Charlie. A boys name too. Also a nickname sometimes given to people called Charlotte. If there was one thing that Charlotte hated and that was nicknames. If anyone was to call her anything it would be her proper name.

"My clothes? What is wrong with my clothes? They are decent and modest. The same can not be said for you, Miss Charlie." Charlotte Edwina Williams had a very strong British accent. It was clear that she was not just any girl. Her accent was one of the most telling signs that she was the daughter of a lord. Charlotte shook her head as she felt her cheeks blush furiously. It had not been a nice thing to say to someone that she had just met.

"I beg of your pardon for my outburst. It was most unkind and Ill mannered. I do not know why I said such a thing. Clothing is the choice of the wearer to not be judged by others." Charlotte flushed apologetically. "My name is Charlotte Edwina Williams. It is lovely to meet you Miss Charlie May." as Edwina spoke she bow her head as in a small seated curtise. "Is Charlie short for Charlotte?"

Charlie felt slightly insulted by her remark, but quickly got over it. "I'm also sorry, I didn't mean to insult you, it is just the way I speak sometimes. You must be from Europe! I know they have diferent customs there. And yes, Charlie is short for Charlotte, but my parents and friends always call me Charlie May." She admired the way Charlotte spoke up for herself, and wasn't passive. She couldn't stand people with passive additudes.

It felt good to know that she was right about the girl and that her name
Charlie was in fact short for Charlotte. Charlotte Edwina Williams, had
never really liked the name Charlotte. Which was why she always
introduced herself with her full name. If it was Charlotte's way she would
get rid of Charlotte and only be known as Edwina, but it was not, and
Charlotte was not to go against her parents. That would be terrible
and bad mannered. She had to respect her parents and do whatever
they asked, without question. That was the way things worked
everywhere, Charlotte was sure. She looked to the girl and nodded.
She was obviously from europe. Her accent was pretty clear and
Charlotte knew this. She did not mind it either. She loved being British.
It came with such pride. Part of a country that had been a Great super power.

"From England to be specific. It is a little different from here. But I was not
brought up the same as others. Which means that my customs are very different."

Charlotte Edwina Williams said. She normally did not talk about her victorian up
brining, but it seemed right to say something since it appeared as though this girl,
Charlie was the exact opposite to her. Charlotte wasn't used to such differences.
Back home she only spoke to those she knew the social status of. Mainly as that
was the way she was taught to be. But since coming to New Zealand it had become
less relavant.

"Have you always lived here?" Charlotte asked, unsure as
to how to keep the conversation going.

Charlie was impressed with Charlotte's lineage. "No, I moved here a few years ago from LA. I loved it there, and we would hve stayed alot longer, but my mom's job in Marine Biology brought us here." She liked it here in New Zealand, but could never stay here forever, she was moving back to the states after she was finished with school at Hogwarts. "So, what brings you out here this late?" Charlie didn't mean to be offensive she was just born curious.

A nod showed that Charlotte Edwina Williams was listening and paying attention to the girl. It was not often that Charlotte met someone completely normal. Or normal to her. It was nice. She smiled at the girl and nodded as she spoke. Feeling more relaxed and at ease with the situation. Of course there really was no way to be at ease when she didn't know quite how to be around this girl. Charlie seemed like a lovely person, but Charlotte was used to girls like her. It might have been an over thought issue in Charlotte's brain. She was always worrying about how to act around people. There were only two people that she was at ease with and that was her brothers. Because she was allowed to be normal with them in the house. But never any where else. Charlotte was not upset about the amount of rules and standards she had to live up to. Rather they meant she felt like she was actually worth something, and knew something about being polite. Charlotte nodded. A marine biologist. Now that was an odd job. She knew that most people had normal and even good jobs. But Charlotte had been brought up in a world which told her that women should not work. Charlotte really had no intentions or aspiritations when it came to working. She just needed to do well.

"A marine biologist? That is most interesting. My mother does not work. My father does. Does your father also work?" Charlotte Edwina left out the part about what her father actually did. She saw no point in mentioning it. "There is a disco on at my school and I had no intentions of attending such a vulgar thing. The girls dress indecently and the boys are just awful. What about you Miss Charlie?"

"Well, to answer your first question, my father left us when he met another woman a few years back. My mother has no choice but to supply for our family. I have a job at the library down town, so I can help out." She didn't like touching this subject, so she moved on to her next question. "I think school parties are overrated, and my mother and me have been going to bars and dance clubs since my father left us. It's our way of cooping. My mom and me are religous in Wica, and we just had our summer solstice, so we take breaks with partying on the holy week. What about you? I mean what is your religion?"

It took Charlotte Edwina Williams a bit by surprise when the girl, Charlie said she worked. Charlotte could not imagine working. Not at that age anyway. Nor at any age really. Charlotte knew that was a very odd few but she had old fashioned views, and was always alittle surprised when females had high aspiritations. But each person had been brought up differently so things were different inCharlies family an most oters compared to hers. Charlotte wondered if her family would be able to help her. They had so much money, surely some could be spared for Charli's family. The thing would be wither or not Charlie would accept it. Her parents always made it clear that it was a little more complicated than just handing money over. But surely. Charlotte Edwina Williams sighed to herself slightly. She ignored her thoughts and listened to Harlie speak. Wicca that was odd. Charlotte know nothing about it. She was not that religious, but due to her family, up until te point where she had come to New Zealand, she had gone to church every Sunday. Something she was quite pleased to no longer have to do.

"I am a Protestant, but I do not believe, it merely because of my family and heritage that I have to be." Charlotte Edwina Williams she had a little bit of resentment in her voice, but not too clear. "I can not be anything else, but please tell me about Wicca,Miss Charlie, I must apologize that I know nothing on it."
