In recent years, the Ministry had started up its initiative in showcasing occupations to developing youths with the introduction of a career's fair. A great idea, and one Howell had participated in in the past, but with so much variety and so many booths vying for the attention of the attendants, it could be difficult to get the necessary information across in time before they were moving on to see what else was on offer. Great handfuls of young witches and wizards often desired to become an auror, and quite a few adults too, but the ratio of those who were interested to those who actually went on to join the ranks of the Ministry's law enforcement seemed drastically different, in part due to the gruelling training required for combating the darkest of wizards, and perhaps also in part due to the limited information youths were able to be provided with about pursuing that goal, and a subsequent lack of motivation to bother enduring that enrolment. This was exactly why Howell felt grateful that, for a change, the spotlight was being shone solely on the Auror's Department during the Christmas Break. It was a perfect opportunity to open a discussion, to teach, and to inspire prospective aurors in joining the fight against dark magic, and factions like the Scitorari, to better maintain a safe and peaceful quality of life.

Flyers, newspaper and radio advertisements had spread awareness of the day's event in its lead-up, and now that it had finally arrived, Howell was looking forward to seeing how many people in the magical community, old and young alike, that it had attracted. Not too far from the heart of Brightstone, though not close enough to be overshadowed by its many bustling businesses, Howell lingered around a booth the Ministry had erected for this Career Information event, leaving him to run it and interact with anyone who attended. Though not normally a social person, if there was one thing Jesiah was passionate about above anything else, it was his job and how it positively affected the community, and he felt more than prepared to handle any questions and inquiries thrown his way. He knew that every single auror counted in the war on dark magic, and if even only one person felt inspired to become an auror today, it could make all the difference.

Hello! If your character is interested in becoming an auror, or just learning more about them, then please feel free to post! Think of this as being much like the Careers Fairs of the past, but focused on one particular career at a time. Feel free to read the Plot Development here for more informtion!

Jasper knew he wanted to be one of two things when he grew up. He was either going to be a professional Quidditch player or an Auror. Though preferably both. So when he had seen flyers of the event where people could go ask an Auror questions, he had immediately asked his dad if they could go there during the holidays. He wanted to meet a real Auror and hear about the experiences he'd had at his super cool job. Normally fairly late to things, Jasper arrived early with his dad in tow, grinning widely. The booth was easy to spot, though Jasper was a tiny bit disappointed by the person manning it. He had expected someone who looked a bit more impressive, but he quickly forgot that thought as it sunk in that this was a real Auror, someone who caught bad guys for his job. Jasper suddenly felt a little nervous and almost shy, something he didn't have very often. His dad nudged him to step forward, and after elbowing him in the side, Jasper did so hesitantly. He raised his hand, then felt foolish for doing so. He wasn't sure what the right way to do this was. "Can I ask a question?" He asked, instead of just launching in like he usually would.

She felt... She felt great. Exhilarated, excited, relieved and delighted; each face and every hand on the road, raised in a salute, lifted this feeling in one of the progreys of math, when she had known many and lovely and hearty people before. And the charms of the neighbor hood...! She had forgotten what she really wanted to be in her life, maybe she could workin the Ministry of Magic, or become a great Auror, but who knew where her ways would take her away, but she liked to ask questions to strangers. She was so, so close to the conviction that Air would never, never come back, that she would manage to draw her attention to one adult and the other boy of her age. When she reached her target, she decided she should greet them politely. She wasn't a shy girl, and she always had the courage. -Hey, everyone!- She smiled and hoping she can ask something interesting about auror.

Howell could not say he was all too surprised by the specific demographic who had approached him first. Small children were often the ones who were most interested in becoming an auror, blissfully ignorant to the dangers and hard work required for the job while they were still young and innocent. The man didn't expect either of the two to ask any of the more in-depth questions he'd prepared for, but he was happy to answer anything on their minds all the same. The auror inclined his head towards the boy, and raised his hand in a gesture of affirmation. "Please, go ahead."

Jacob glanced back to make sure that his mother was indeed walking in the opposite direction before he moved forward, straightening his robes and hoping he looked a little presentable. The Gryffindor was nervous, far more nervous than he'd expected to be though the level of excitement he'd been feeling should have been some indication for him. The teenager had been seeing the advertisements for a while, the suggestion for people interested in speaking to an Auror to show up on this day. Jacob had been fortunate enough to grow up with the opportunity to speak to Aurors if he had wanted to, but it would have meant his parents needing to know of his interest...which he hadn't yet shared with them. It wasn't that Jacob particularly thought his parents would discourage his interest, though he could already hear his mother expressing her fears for his safety. It was more that he didn't know how they'd feel, and he didn't want anyone or thing to discourage him. So it felt better to say nothing. To just press forward on his own. Jacob also didn't want to use his father's advantage. He wanted to earn it all on his own. It would feel better that way. He spotted the man talking to some young kids as he made his way over and managed to catch the tail end of his reply, wondering what kind of question was going to come. He had many of his own, so he was eager to hear if any of them might be answered without him seeming overeager.

Jasper noticed a young girl standing near who greeted them and he shrugged and waved at her though he had no idea who she was. Then he turned to the Auror again, feeling more nervous than he had expected. He stuffed his hands in his pockets. "Uh. What's the coolest thing you've ever done in your work?" He asked, looking at the man curiously. He had wanted to ask if he had ever had to fight a dark wizard or kill anyone evil, but with a real and fairly normal looking person in front of him that question seemed not to really fit the situation.

Jenna was smiling at everybody. But she thinking about what she will says about this stranger about this school who learning about Auror. - How long you learn about an Auror and where?- Girl realy wanna know about this and then later rember about this shcool.

There were maybe four people in the entire world Charlie would feel comfortable confiding in about how much she had looked forward to today. Her stomach twisted in knots as she approached the booth, hands in her pockets. She didn't even know when it had solidified in her mind that protecting people was what she wanted to do with her life, but Charlie couldn't think of a time when she hadn't wanted to be an Auror. It was hard, but she was starting to pull her grades together after talking to Professor Kingsley, and once again, Charlie was beginning to feel that goal within her grasp.

So the chance to actually hear from someone really working in the field what it was actually like to be an Auror and what it took to be accepted was a chance she definitely wasn't going to turn down. There were a million questions burning in Charlie's mind, but speaking up had never been one of her strongest suits, and she was dismayed to find there were already a few kids hanging around. Not comfortable with such a big crowd, Charlie simply stood near the booth, arms folded, and listened for the moment, hoping she would get a chance to talk to the Auror when things were quieter.

Vi hurried to the place that was advertised on the flier, the one her mother gave to her the day before. She prayed she wasn't late to meet the auror, that he hadn't gone into details about his career at the ministry just yet. Vi runs her brown hair flying passed her shoulders, the only thing trailing her beside Aciano. The weather was great, so no heavy coats or jackets for her. Vi glanced back, glaring at her older brother for delaying them. "I swear, if you don't hurry up I'm going to tell mom," Vi threatens him with the older witch. Though nothing changes, he continues his way over to the booth at the same pace. Vi wanted to wring his neck by then, unfortunately, she was short and she didn't have the time to fight with him. They arrived at the booth and from what Vi could gather, the auror was taking questions from the others. Vi catches up with her breath, brushing the hair away from her face. Vi heard the questions asked, she rolled eyes over at Jasper. Vi thought he was so annoying and his question didn't come as surprise to her. "Hello, I'm Violet, and I was wondering, how did you know that you wanted to be an auror?" Vi spoke up after the girl.

The first question was one Howell had anticipated. Everyone wanted to hear stories about his line of work - how many dark wizards he'd taken down, if he'd had to fight vampires and hags, or if he'd ever killed anyone. It all sounded quite exciting from a childs perspective, but the reality of his job was anything but. There was nothing fun about being an auror. It was a job necessary for the community's safety and secrecy. Though, he wasn't here to hit children this young with a reality bombshell. They'd figure out what the world was really like at their own pace. "I would have to say that taking down a pair of Werewolf hunters in the forests was quite cool. You may have heard about it in the paper a couple of years ago." There wasn't much else Jesiah could talk about openly, and there was even less that he wanted to mention. His last major job had been to protect and keep tabs on Ioan Finch, a job he'd partially failed given the man's loss of memory as a result. They'd taken down three men in the process, but it had come with an unfortunate cost. "The things you do as an auror won't always be cool, but everything that we do saves lives." The man further added, not wanting to discourage any of them with a tale that wasn't as exciting as they might have liked.

Turning his attention to the first girl to voice her question, Howell continued. "You can begin after you graduate by applying with the Ministry's Department of Magical Law Enforcement. You'll begin your training, and after three years, assuming you pass, you'll be made a fully-fledged auror. Its hard work to get there, but it is well worth it." He told her, before turning toward the second girl to raise a question. The man hesitated for a moment, deciding how best to answer such a personal question. It wasn't a topic he ever wanted to completely delve into. "My sister, she was born a squib, so it was up to me to protect her when we were growing up. Over time I realised it was something I was good at doing, and I wanted to protect even more people who weren't always capable of protecting themselves. It's a rewarding experience." It had been a long time since the man had needed to look out for his sister, but in an indirect way, he felt as if he still was. Every dark witch and wizard behind bars was one less capable of causing her, or anyone else any harm.

Jenna didn't know much about Auror too rarely and briefly about it, to cover and recognize the activities that were taught to them, but she didn't get answers on questions to school. But instead she received many other questions that didn't make anyone else's eyesap pear before. But the sight of the powerful auror standing in front of her seemed interesting and a desire to know her more about Auror so much more than she could believe in her own power.

And there were new arrivals, parents like that, so unusual with their beliefs from their lives, did they learn at the school where the yen was going to be trained?

It may be that it was also the right place to raise character and discover the world, not from that flattering side, when you have achieved what you have wanted. With difficulty going forward and dealing with your own problems. There came and there were people from close and distant, while their houses were quietly living their separate lives on the very edge of the aurors. Well, maybe Auror wasn't so happy with the dificulties assignments he'd given?Maybe some lived even further and happier. But otherwise the young girl seems to be quite quiet and risky to be an auror.

- Hey, Violet. 'My name is Jenna!' Jenna had a really beautiful smile, shown to the pires, but then she decided not to speak, but to listen to the auror words about what was more experienced. She was still on the spot, but she hoped the conversation wouldn't take too long for her to go further and back home. She always liked to have this conversation, which could really be helpful. She had never known that she might be in an interesting vortex of conversation today.

Jacob wanted to be fair and let the babies students who'd arrived before him have their chance with the Auror, but when he heard the first question, it took all of his will to stop himself from jumping in and interrupting. Instead, he rolled his eyes, his arms crossing over his chest. The boy's question seemed to break the dam, however, as other questions came pouring out from the others. Only one other person remained as quiet as him, another Gryffindor. Jacob recognized her from the common room, knew that she was in the same boat as him having a parent who worked at the school. Her mom was pretty cool though unlike his own mother. He'd never known that she wanted to be an Auror, but it wasn't like he knew her very well at all. He nodded his head in her direction, acknowledging her. After another moment, Jacob couldn't take the questions any more, not without asking his own, far more important question, at least in his eyes. "What's the training like...sir?" he asked. He'd read that there was training and knew that much of it probably involved dueling and the like, but knew that there had to be more to it and all of the materials he'd found had been rather vague on the details. Hearing about it from someone who'd actually gone through it would be different.

Jasper waited anxiously for his question to be asked, in the meanwhile joined by more young people who were curious about the work. He had his hands in his pockets as he listened to a few other questions being asked. Then, his was answered. He grinned a bit when the man said that he had taken down a pair of Werewolf hunters."Wow."He said, impressed. He hadn't heart, because a couple of years ago (or even now) Jasper hadn't read the paper. But it was pretty cool. "Thanks!" He added hurriedly. He wanted to ask more things, but waited a bit as an older boy asked what the training was like. That was definitely something useful to know, and he waited for the response.

Vi listens intensively to the auror responding to their questions, he was well spoken when he gave up his answers. His answer to her question was personal, Vi hadn't really given a second thought that her question would be personal. But it really got her thinking about her own ambitions of wanting to become an auror, having a stepfather as an auror simply wasn't enough to chase such a career. Vi knew there were more reasons why she admires the wizard, he did what the auror standing in front of her did. He protected them, he protected her mom and protected the outside world from her mom. Vi needed to protect her mom and protect the outside world from her mom. That will be the plan, Vi will have to be the one to set the plan in motion. "Thank you," Vi nodded then gave a nod to the younger girl there. "Hello."

Howell's attention shifted to one of the older children in the crowd, a respectful young man if the way he phrased his question was anything to go by. It was exactly the target audience he'd been hoping for, and the man's eyes wandered over some of the other older, but quieter students in the crowd before focusing back on the brunette to answer. "It's long and rigorous. It will test you in mind, body and soul. As an auror you must learn how to identify and combat dark forces in order to fulfil your duties fully. We must learn advanced forms of magical combat in which to defend ourselves and subdue criminals, and methods of stealth and tracking in which to locate and detain them with. The job is more than just chasing down the bad guys and arresting them. It takes a great deal of caution and critical thinking, which are among the many things you must learn in order to progress to becoming a fully fledged auror. Our lives depend on these skills, and mastering them is not an easy feat, but it is a necessary one." The man said, his expression becoming more stern the more he spoke. It wasn't all fun and games, but he had to remember that most of the crowd around him were barely old enough to even begin making decisions about the rest of their lives yet. "With that said, to even be considered for the job requires excellent marks in your N.E.W.T level courses, so be sure to do well and study hard if you think you may want to join the ranks of the Auror Department, and help us to protect both the magical and non-magical communities of the world."
