Apparition 3

Before the end of the lesson, Irene Finch hoped that all of the students would succeed in apparating to their target. She knew that wouldn't be the case, but the pressure was on for the students. This was the last practice after all. Several of the students had managed to apparate during the last lesson even with the splinching that had happened, but that didn't always translate to success at the exam.

Addressing the small group of sixth years, Irene walked as she spoke. "Today, we will resume practicing" she began, her icy blue eyes staring at each of the students in turn as she spoke. "I am hopeful that those of you who weren't able to apparate last time will do so today. The next time we meet will be your exam and you will only get one opportunity to succeed or fail. Your test will require you to be accurate when you apparate." She let that sink in before continuing on.

"Line up beside me please." It didn't take them long to queue up. "Alright...I'd like you all to attempt apparating from this end of the Great Hall to that end" she said, pointing towards the doors of the Great Hall. "The red X marks the spot" she added, knowing that they had probably noticed an X etched onto the floor with magic as they walked in.

Glancing at all the students beside her, she hoped there would be no splinchings today, though she had asked for one of the school nurses to join them once again. "You can begin whenever you're ready" she said to the student who was first in line. "As soon as you feel comfortable, you may leave. But, please do remember that this is your final opportunity to practice before your exam." They were adults by wizarding standards or close enough anyway, so she wasn't going to force any of them to stay. It was in their best interests to take advantage of the time provided to them though.

**************************
Practice attempting to apparate one by one. Practice as many times as you'd like. Please PM if you plan on splinching.

Mikael stood in line, hands in his pockets as he looked towards the red marking at the far end of the Great Hall. After the last week's initial failure, Mikael had spent the rest of the second class attempting to perfect his execution. It would not do well to apparate himself into a wall. When it was his turn, he stepped forward, rolling his shoulders as he continued to stare at that red X ahead of him. Destination. The red X. Determination. No room for failure Deliberation. Each step had to flow - follow through. One breath and the next, the sensation overtook him. It took only but a moment before his feet was on solid ground and he was standing on the X perfectly. Still, his preparation was too slow. He went back to the line then to attempt another turn. Faster.

Hinata fidgeted as she lined up with the rest of her classmates, her gaze catching the red X at the other end of the Great Hall. She would not deny that she was nervous. This was the last practice before the Apparition Exam where she would or wouldn't get her license. There was no room for her to make any mistake. She'd almost gotten it down last time before class ended. She could apparate but she had been off-target during the last practice. Today, she needed to land exactly where she aimed. At this point, she repeated the three principles in her mind as if hammering it would help with her aim. Her problem was the first. Destination. She stared at that red X, practically glared at it when it was her turn. 3D's. With a sharp crack, the world twisted and then reformed around her. She was at the other end of the Hall away from the line. Moment of truth. She looked down and she nearly slumped in relief. It wasn't perfect. She wasn't at the middle of the X. Off-center. Nearly out really. But she was inside and that was something she could work with. She returned to the line to get more practice in until the Ministry deemed practice over.

Theo stood in line, rocking back on his heels with his hands in his pockets as he whistled a tune. Last practice before the exam. No pressure. Nooooo pressure at all. He glanced at the red X at the other end of the Great Hall, sizing up how well he could do this. He'd done well last year, though he didn't like the feel of apparition worse than the feel of side-along. But at least it was something that was useful. His turn came soon enough and he rolled his shoulders, his eyes locking onto the target as he repeated the 3Ds in his head. The world twisted. Awfulawfulawful. He stumbled as his feet hit the floor but he instantly saw the X right beneath his feet. Well. That did it. Now he just had to do well on the exam.

Fraser walked into the great hall and spotted the X in the room. He glanced at it and could figure out what they would be doing within this apparition lesson. He glanced at the teacher as she began speaking, nodding along to what she said and then lining up. He watched others go, and then it was his turn. He stepped forward and moved to the starting position, his gaze moving towards the X on the other side of the room. He focused on it, and then after a moment felt the tug he’d felt before, he leaned in and with a pop he was on the other side. Where he was supposed to be, with everything in its right place. He practiced once more before he headed out of the great hall.
