Irene found it unfortunate that she could not meet with the sixth years every single week to prepare them for their apparation exam, but her schedule would not allow it. She was going to try and change that for the upcoming year, but for now she would have to deal it. The woman entered the castle, her heels clicking along the floor as she made her way to the Great Hall. Pushing up the sleeves of her Ministry robes, she pulled out her wand and made quick work of moving the tables along the walls. The students would need space today, though she doubted any of them would make much headway today. Today would be the first day for them to actually practice apparating so her hopes weren't too high.

"Come in, Come in" she began by way of greeting the students as she saw the first of them peek their heads inside. The woman's blue eyes scanned the group before her before she reached for her wand once more. Irene gave it a small flourish and a wooden hoop appeared in front of each student. "Space yourselves out...there's plenty of room." There certainly was plenty of room since the Great Hall was meant to accommodate the entire school and she had only a small portion of the student body in front of her.

As she looked around at the student's faces, Irene's expression remained stern as usual. She gave them no expression of hope or encouragement. It was up to them to work hard and create their own hope. Her blue eyes stared at each student for the briefest of moments, making judgments about their ability to succeed at the task before them. "Alright. Don't forget the three D's that we discussed last week. Destination. Determination. Deliberation" she stated clearly. "And, if you feel as if you're suddenly being pulled through a tube, don't worry. It means you're doing something right." She looked around the room, wondering if any of them were familiar with the sensation from side-along apparition. She figured that those who had grown up in wizarding families were. It was definitely something to get used to and any of the students who had never done it were in for a huge surprise.

"I'll be walking around in case any of you get splinched and I've asked one of the nurses to join us as well" Irene began, wondering how many of the students knew the term. She hoped that there wouldn't be a live example for the class to see. Irene knew that there was always one person who rushed and ended up leaving a portion of themselves behind. She looked around, wondering who that person would be today. "Not that I expect any of you to" she added hastily as she noticed a few horrified looks from the group, "but just in case. You'll have nothing to worry about if you concentrate."

Irene crossed her arms and stood waiting for the students to begin. When they didn't right away, Irene rolled her blue eyes. "Whenever you're ready" she added a beat later in a droll tone. She didn't expect them to do anything much for at least the first little while. Irene allowed the students a few moments before she began pacing around the group, stopping to offer a suggestion here and there and demonstrating when she needed to.

Rp the lesson. Have fun with it!
If you plan on splinching yourself, please PM me first. ^_^

Sara walked into the Great Hall, surprised, once more, to see all the tables pushed back. She was slightly nervous about this class, she'd been reading more about Apparition, and some of the stories had scared her half to death. She took her place, near the centre of the hall, and looked up into the shocking blue eyes of their instructor. She jumped slightly as a hoop appeared in front of her. She'd read about this practice, you imagined yourself in the hoop, focused on the Destination, turned quickly, and found yourself inside it. It was supposed to be simple, and magic had never been hard for Sara, but somehow-this felt like her Everest. She listened to Irene Finch-was that her name? She wasn't sure. Should they call her Professor Finch? She couldn't remember, all she could think about was splinching herself, and how scary that would be.

She was terrified, but determined to get this right. Every other challenge she'd ever faced within these walls had been accomplished, flying, lessons, everything, and she could do this, she had to. It meant she would see her parents more next year, and she could focus on that. She stared at the hoop, memorized it, until she could describe it perfectly. Almost perfectly circular, except for a slight fault to the right, which made it slightly oval. There was a crack on the side closest to her, a small hairline crack, barely noticeable. she could picture herself inside, it, and on a whim, she turned on her heel, and opened her eyes, to find herself.....exactly where she'd been before. Feeling a bit stupid, she turned around again, and picturing the hoop, tried forcing her mind, to shift, to expand. It that made any sense, anyway, that was how she saw it. She tensed her muscles, and felt herself suck into nothingness for a moment, excited, she opened her eyes, to find she'd Apparated backwards, away from the hoop. A few more tries resulted in her apparating halfway across the hall, and another just caused her to fall over. Not once did she get into the hoop, but she didn't splinch herself either, which in her opinion-was quite an accomplishment.

Kate hurried along down to the Great Hall. Today they had their second apparation lesson. She was looking forward to it even though it was probably going to be hard. It would all be worth it in the end though. No more traveling on a plane though at first she probably wouldn't be able to apparate from England to New Zealand that would probably take some time but she wouldn't mind taking a few stops on the way. She would practice short distant journeys first and hopefully in time she wouldn't have to use a plane for long distant traveling. This type of magic was hard and Kate was going to have to do her best and concentrate. She wasn't that bad at magic she was quite good but she knew this would be a challenge. Non-verbal magic had been hard at first but with practice she had managed to do some simple spells non-verbally which was a great achievement for her. Apparation was her next big task.

She walked into the hall, the tables had all been moved back and the Hall looked even bigger then usual. There were a couple of students already there waiting. Irene Finch their instructor was there too. Kate walked up and waited for the rest of the year to arrive. Soon everyone was in the hall and the class began. A hoop appeared in front of her. Kate was lightly puzzled but she spread out anyways so she had some space. They were told what to do. it didn't sound too hard but some things are easier said then done. Kate looked at the hoop in front of her. She noted everything about the hoop and every detail inside the hoop. Kate really wanted to do well so she imagined clearly the image of the hoop and what was inside. She was determined to get this right. But the idea of just appearing in the hoop not even a meter away was niggling at the back of her mind. She tried to dismiss it and when she felt as if she was being sucked into nothingness she got a bit excited but when she opened her eyes she had managed to apparate into a classmates hoop at the other end of the hall. Kate smiled, embarrrassed and apologized before walking back to her hoop. She couldn't believe that she had managed to apparate all the ways across the classroom, obviously the thought in her head had managed to expand in her wanting to move further. She wanted to apparate into the hoop though. She was delighted with what she had achieved, it was an achievement for her but she wanted to get into her hoop. She stood in front of her hoop once more, she tried to ignore the thought of it being so close but three times later after appearing in three other hoops, a considerable distance away from herself, it didn't seem to be working. She walked back over and tried going over what Tara said to her in third year about meditating. She had to clear her mind completely except for the image of the hoop directly in front of her. She breathed in and ignored the sounds around her and pictured only the hoop in front of her, months of meditation made this easier and when she opened her eyes she smiled widely. She had managed to successfully apparate into her hoop. Kate felt like jumping around and celebrating but felt that was inappropriate so instead she thanked their instructor.

Klaus Smile was in no hurry to get to the Great Hall. Any other time he would be, but today he was not. It was time for his apparation class. He was kind of excited, but not really. Klaus walked into the Great Hall. It looked a lot bigger than it normally did. He was pretty bored now that Divination was over. He was kind of stressed out over family and stuff, so all of his Divination readings had been cloudy and highly inaccurate. He was starting to thinking that the subject was not really for him. He was, honestly, starting to get tired of drinking tea. Water tasted much better, and Klaus never really like pumpkin juice. Now that he thought about it, Klaus did not like many types of juice. It was just too sugary for a guy like him. He was already tall, strong, and energetic. He did not need any sugar that would make him go jump off the cliff for the thrill. Finch told them to spread out. He decided to stand pretty far away from the rest of the group. He needed to be focused. Being around people caused him to not focus. Klaus stared at the wooden hoop in front of him. He listened as Ms. Finch reminded them of the three D's. Destination, Determination, and Deliberation. He had practically tattooed the three word on the front lobe of his brain. The woman did not seem very encouraging though. He hoped it was some kind of strategy to make them work harder, but then he did not really care whether she thought he could apparate or not. It was simple. She would prove her wrong if she had no faith in him. Klaus focused on the wooden circle and then he closed his eyes. He felt like he was being pulled into a rubber tube. He made sure to keep calm. Then the feeling went away. Klaus opened his eyes. He was only halfway there! Klaus frowned. What a waste of three seconds. Klaus stepped back from his hoop again and kept trying. At the end of the class, he had managed to be two inches away from being inside the hoop. He had been so close! Maybe next time he would make it. Klaus thanked the woman and left. He was kind of tired. Maybe he would go drink some tea water.
