Linden made his way to the great hall. He hadn't planned on going with anyone to the valentines date. of course, there was one person he wanted to be there with but he didn't know how to tell alexei that he had a bit of a crush on him. he didn't know how to tell willow. he had hardly spoken to Allison about it and that was because she was the one who had noticed that he had a crush on his friend, even before he did. but given six months he had realised that she had been right.
once he was in the hall he wasn't sure what to do. he couldn't see Alexei anywhere or any of his other friends. he decided to start with something simple he got a drink and leaned against the wall in what he hoped was a casual way. trying to look effortless when really he had picked a spot where he could see most people entering the hall but was far enough out of the way to not necessarily be seen straight away or to be in peoples way.

Alexei attraction towards the same sex was growing stronger and stronger as the days went. He would try to ignore it, pull it deeper in the 'closet' but it was no good. It's like the more he denied it, the more he would catch himself daydreaming about cute boys during lessons. Scratch that, a boy. Because there was one particular boy he did like, like a lot. Or two. Was that bad? He felt bad for simply having crushes on two boys who might not even like him back. Might not even swing that way. What are the chances that either one of them were interesting in him? He wishes he could write to his grandmothers, they're the support he desperately needed at the moment. His twin Ana, no one else in his family had a clue that he's taking an interest in relationships, crushes or whatever one would call it. Alexei just didn't know...So, with his head a mess about these things he decides to go to the Valentine's Dance, because why not? And he received two roses, one from Linden and one from someone else who had a crush on him...What are the chances they both were from Linden, or the other boy? Alexei walks in casually through the double doors of the great hall hoping to find out...Maybe...

Linden saw a familiar figure enter the hall. how was he meant to do this? he didn't want to seem like he had been waiting for Alexei. but he did want to go over and say hello to him. he gave it a moment to see if he would be noticed but it seemed like his spot was too good and not an area people seemed to look at. he gave it a moment before he slowly made his way towards alexei going a bit of a roundabout way. he didnt wants to make it look like he was going straight towards him. when he got closer he tried to push back the wide smile that was trying to take over his face. "Hey Alexei, Happy valentines day" he said before giving his friend a hug trying not to spill the remaining half cup of his punch. friends wished each other happy valentines day right and they could give each other hugs, sander had hugged them when they had met up to play with dogs.

It wasn't long for a familiar face to greet him with a warm hug. He was liking to be able to touch the boy he was internally growing fond of. "Hey! Happy Valentine's Day to you too, and your love ones. That's appropriate right?" Alexei says with a grin, he manage to get his arms functioning to return the hug. It wasn't a full on hug, more like a shy embrace on his part. He was starting to notice his heart raced in his chest when he was around the boys he likes, like he was running crazy. And that's probably not good for his asthma. Probably not. Alexei ran his hand smoothly through his short locks,"I wanted to say thank you for the rose. It was really nice...I wished I had gotten you one...a pink one... because, everyone gives out the yellow ones..."

linden felt Alexei hugging him back. was he hugging tighter than usual or did linden just notice it more because he could fell his skin start to flush. he was glad it wasn't too bright and he hoped that Alexei wouldn't notice. as his friend thanked him for the roses he felt the blush spread. surly it had to be noticeable now. "you're welcome. I am glad you liked them." he said. he hadn't been sure when he was sending them if they would allow him to send the two. or at least send the two to be delivered separately. he did have a contingency plan if they hadn't been allowed he would have sent the pink one and asked willow to add the yellow one to her deliveries then he realised what his friend had said. "a pink one? li-like an inside joke pink one or a proper pink one?"' he said his heart quickening. he knew his sister had sent one of her friends a red rose every year there was a joke. between them. was this what Alexei meant or was it for the same reason he had send his friend the pink one. he felt a glimmer of hope start to emerge at the thought of a pink rose.

Alexei caught that, like them? Did he hear that right? The muscles in his stomach contracted right there and then. Alexei noted the spasms. His lower lip fell open, everything else sort of fell on deaf ears. "Them? You sent two? You sent me two roses?" Alexei's throat tighten up, his heart was beating like a run away train. There was a lightbulb moment as he began to piece all that together. "That means...," Alexei continues somewhat flush, a tingle sensation prickled both his ears. "Is the note, is the note real?"

linden wasnt quite sure what kind of reaction he was expecting from Alexei. but the reaction was not it. the boy sort of froze for a second with his mouth half-open. had he just gone and spoiled everything? he chewed on his lip and nodded as Alexei asked if he had sent the two roses. he wondered how many he had received. he fidgeted slightly as his friend took a second to process what the information was. he had to look away. he looked down at his feet absentmindedly scuffing the toe of his right foot against the floor. at his friends, the next question he looked up still biting his lip. "I mean it doesn't have to be if it is weird" he said putting his hands in his pocket. "but it, it was a real note" he said making eye contact with his friend, his face turning so red it would give his sisters hair a run for its money. now was the time that he messed one of his best friendships up terribly he could almost feel it coming. he took a deep breath to calm himself but he was ready to turn and leave at just a moments notice.
