Lennon couldn't believe how much the Hogwarts Monthly kept growing each year. He supposed he should be excited and grateful for everyone's interest, but it only made him more nervous as the Editor of the paper. He had a lot of expectations put on him and he couldn't let down the ever-growing staff, especially since a lot of them were very young which meant they'd be around for a long time. He also liked that older students were finding more interest in the paper, even if some of them weren't his favorite people, like Asaiah. As it was, last year he had been reluctant to have Mini on the staff, but she had rather impressed him with such great writing, so he hoped the same could be said for the Slytherin. But he had to put all that aside for the sake of professionalism at the moment so he stood at the head of the newsroom and waited for all the members to arrive, nervous and eager to get brainstorming.

Sam had been rather excited that she had been able to join the school newspaper, even at such a young age. She figured they wouldn't let her do any task that was big or write a lot in this first semester, but the girl was happy enough to observe for the first couple of weeks. She arrived to where the newspaper meetings were supposedly held and when she recognised the older boy from the club fair she knew she was at the right place. Sam hadn't expected this many people to be part of the Hogwarts Monthly. She did spot some familiar faces, some of her classmates also had the same idea apparently which eased her nerves a little. Sam took a seat somewhere and waited for the boy to speak, hoping to get familiar with everything soon.

Jacob loved to write in his journal and it only made sense to write for the schools paper. Even though he was only a first year, he was overly excited to see who else was with the paper. He made a note for the editor and he was accepted as an intern. He wasn't much of a talker and the club fair was way too busy for him. Being with the paper seemed like a great job to have at a school. He arrived at the meeting and looked around. He barely knew anyone and could only hope he would fit with this bunch of people. Jacob tried to observe and see if he knew anyone.

Asaiah had been surprised to get the sign-up sheet shoved into his hands by the editor during the club fair and was glad that he had not denied him this. He knew that doing some writing or something else for the Monthly would be a great distraction from his thoughts so was keen to get started on whatever Lennon wanted him to work on. He nodded his head at the Ravenclaw when he entered the room and took a seat in the back of the room. He did not want to be much of a bother to Lennon so decided to keep his mouth shut whilst he waited for the other members to arrive.

Aminia was still nervous as she snuck her way down to the meeting for the Hogwarts Montly. Dressed fairly plainly she entered the room, one of the first few besides Lennon. The blonde Ravenclaw stood next to a shorter blonde and smiled, confidence verging on non-existent. What if Lennon had realized she sent the rose, and decided to kick her out for it? The teen wasn't sure what to expect, but she waited patiently again to hear what he had to say about this year's club direction.

Noemie had been a part of the monthly for a few years now, and though she only wrote the horoscope, she had really enjoyed it, so much so that she felt that that would be what she wanted to do. Maybe not write horoscopes, but write. Her mother was a lecturer and so she wrote quite often, but Noemie didn’t want that. She instead wanted to write for a newspaper, or a magazine! Or maybe even start her own. However, as the term began again, Noemie’s position in the monthly had been promoted, she was no longer a reporter, she was a staff writer, she didn’t know what the positions meant, but she was happy to have a fancy title and wondered if Evelyn had that one too. The part-veela arrived at the meeting and greeted the editor with a warm smile. This would be a good year. She didn’t know what direction she was going to take the horoscopes, but she was looking forward to it, she couldn’t help but want to face the challenge head on. She found herself a spot in the room to sit and waited for it to begin. She couldn’t help but be happy with all the new faces in the room, this club had really grown since she’d started!

Of all the things at Hogwarts, the paper was the only one Caro really looked forward to returning to. Getting to use her camera was the most exciting part of her day, and it was always fun to see the article she had photographed and put together in real print for other people to read, even if all she was doing was quoting others. She turned up to the meeting with a rare smile on her face, hoping Sophie would arrive soon so they could compare what they were working on for this semester's issue.

Kinsey was extremely excited to go to her first meeting for the Hogwarts Monthly and see how things were run - she had never done anything like this before but wanted to do well so she had arrived with a pen and notebook held under her arm, eager to take notes and learn from the older, more experienced students about how this was produced so maybe she would get a hint into wizarding publishing too. Upon arrival she smiled at the older boy who she'd met at the club fair when she'd signed up but said nothing because everyone else seemed so silent.

Sophie really liked Hogwarts Monthly, and unfortunately also really liked their editor. She had told herself to get over her stupid crush on him, but as soon as she saw him she felt her cheeks heat up a little. She didn't think it was as bad as it had been last year, but he was just still very handsome. Her face twisted in disgust as she took in all the new faces, however. Sophie had opted not to help out at the club fair this year, as she wasn't the best at selling their club, but whoever had helped this time had done too much of a good job. Did they need this many people? And so many firsties no less. She conveniently ignored the fact that she herself started at the paper in her first year, and headed over to her friend Caro. "Hey." She said, giving her a slight smile. "So... lots of newbies. I hope they don't take all the good articles."

Lisa loved working for the school paper. She didn't join into many other school clubs, but this one was her favourite. She certainly loved the camaraderie of everyone and knowing what to expect each semester. Lennon was doing a fabulous job of running the paper and as an older member of the paper, Lisa was finding it incredibly endearing that others were having such great fun and joining the paper. She was happy to have two more years of Lennon and three more years of working on the paper, if she included this year, only just starting. She couldn't wait to see what new and wonderful ideas he brought to the paper. "Hey Lennon, hae ye got any new gret ideas fer th' paper? I've loved working wi' ye. Carlotta was good, but ye've broot such great substance!"

As the first few students arrived, Lennon grew more anxious but tried not to show it because a lot of them were new to the paper so he couldn't show any stress in his position as the club's leader. He smiled and waved encouragingly at some of the newcomers and was relieved to see some of the older faces enter the room. Lennon's stomach flipped when he saw Mini enter the room but simply nodded at her with a small smile and then waved at Sophie. He had missed her at the club fair and had a feeling if she had shown up they might not have had as many new interns as they did if she had been there. But that was not necessarily a bad thing so he embraced the size of the growing staff, hoping there would be no issues between them. As Lisa approached him, he laughed lightly at her comment and shook his head humbly. "Thanks, Lisa, but Carlotta's the one who gave me the courage to use the paper's voice to its full potential," he said, still fond of his former editor for having his back when he'd been in trouble with he Hufflepuff Head of House for his article.

Lennon waited a few more minutes for others to show up before starting, figuring anyone who was late could just slip in when they arrived, as the newsroom was often times hard to find in the castle. He cleared his throat to get their attention and waved as he said, "Hi guys, I'm Lennon and I'm the editor of the Hogwarts Monthly," he introduced himself for the benefit of the new students, especially those he didn't get to meet at the Club Fair this year. "This year we have quite a few new members joining us and all of our returning staff still," he said proudly, since no one had graduated yet. "It may take some getting used to all the people in here, but I hope the older members can help any of the new ones around with how we do things around here," he said encouragingly. He pointed out a few members who could be good mentors to the younger ones, like Caro since she was their Head Photographer and could perhaps enlist other photographers to help her, or Noemie who had been with the paper for a long time and had experience in covering a specific section, but could also write other things when asked.

"I'm so happy the staff has grown in numbers over the year because I want the paper to grow with us," Lennon said proudly. "What we write about now is great, but this year I want us to push ourselves and really get out and find good stories. Who knows what students are interested in better than students themselves right?" he said with a nervous grin. "The Hogwarts Monthly is a newspaper run for students by students, we should use it to our advantage and make sure that we are being heard." As he'd told Lisa earlier, the previous editor had given him the courage to speak his mind without fear of retribution, and as a Quidditch protester he was never one to shy away from speaking his mind. Now he just wanted to instill that same confidence in the younger staff. "I'm not saying we need to rebel or write stories trashing anything, just that we should strive to have good content that students want to read about and things that are important to us," he said with a small shrug.

He looked around the room, mostly at the older members to gage what they thought of his idea to take the paper in a different direction. Then he looked around at the newer members to see if he was possibly scaring them away from the club but he hoped no one would just get up and leave. "So, with that being said, the floor is open for any comments, criticisms, questions, or suggestions," he said with a small chuckle, wondering how their brainstorming session for the next issue would go.

Sophie felt her cheeks heat up at the wave Lennon gave her, and she silently cursed herself for this stupid crush. She gave him a quick smile before inspecting the floor very carefully. She listened as Lennon welcomed new members and talked about the paper. He was happy it had grown so much, though Sophie really wasn't sure if it was good for the paper. She just hoped it wouldn't be one big fluff piece now with fashion and entertainment taking it all over. Though Lennon's words reassured her a bit. He wouldn't want that either. She didn't have any suggestions or questions yet, but looked around at the others to see if they would.

Caro was surprised to see their clubroom so busy, so many new faces around. She listened to Lennon's introduction, a little surprised when he pointed her out as a person to go to for help, but she gave a smile and awkward wave to the new people. It still felt weird, not being one of the newbies anymore. She had never had any kind of position of seniority before, always being the baby of the family, with the least to do. It was a new experience. She listened happily to the rest of Lennon's speech, but found herself at the end with nothing else to say. He had a clear direction for the paper and Caro felt proud to be part of it, already excited to get to work on her segment.

The more people that showed up the more antsy Aminia became. After all the more members there were the more likely it was her family would discover her writing. The blonde tried hard to remember what Chaser had told her about sharing her writing, but the boy had been so confusing. The part Veela hugged herself gently, listening to Lennon whom had barely acknowledged her, which hurt more every time she remembered it was because of who she had been. She had changed - however it was pointless to convince him. The blonde did not see anyone speaking up, and thus found as much courage as she could. With a shaking voice she stood. "I was wondering if anyone was interested in the article about future jobs and what it takes to receive them? I have one written up already... Just to make sure it's got a place in the paper..." Her thick Russian accent made her words seem clumsy. She was a dancer after all, not a public speaker.

Nixon enjoyed working on the school magazine in his first year and could not wait to return and take part in it during his second year. Writing articles was fun for him and being part of a school club was a great way to make friends so there was no reason he wouldn't return. He still had a lot to learn and more friends to make and this became more obvious as he arrived to the club meeting, faced with the sight of many unfamiliar faces. The paper was definitely growing with a lot of students wanting to contribute and this made Nixon smile as he moved to lean against one of the walls. He nodded along when Lennon spoke up about the magazine, smiling again when the older boy was finished. Nixon pondered a few article ideas before deciding to walk up to someone he did not recognize and start a conversation, wanting to make a friend as well as welcome someone new to the club.

This was the end of the road for Stella. Her last year at Hogwarts and she decided to spend it on something less magical to her taste. The Hogwarts Monthly provided a temporary escape from her doubts and the work overload she knew she can never finished. For that she was grateful for joining up, even at the last minute. She won't ever regret wasting her time here. It was time very well spent. And if she didn't leave much of an impression, she hoped her writing will. For now, she sat muted near her fellow members as some spoke while, others listen. If she had any suggestions she be sure to run by them with Lennon later on. She had a bunch of ideas that the others can benefit from, basically pick up from once she was gone. Until then, her divided attention was on anyone currently speaking.
