Jack walked through the corridors of Durmstrang, annoyed at the situation in which he found himself. Smirking as he rounded a few corners, he stood there, gazing down the oncoming traffic of people. Why do i bother with this school? He asked himself again and again, as he stood there, letting the small first years dodge their way around him. Catching sight of Janet, a girl in his year, he winked at her and smiled, looking around still. He was in his final year at school, and was glad to be finishing soon. He was fed up with 1st years who stood around attempting to jinx each other. As they failed, he occasionally threw the extra one in, and watching them look around, unsure of who cast it. Laughing as this happened, he walked through the corridor, bored with no lesson to go to. His NEWT's were proving to be fun, rather than hard work, and the dark arts subjects seemed fun. He didn't notice where he was going and suddenly found himself looking down on a pretty girl whom he had knocked down. "Sorry." He muttered, scooping her up to avoid her getting trampled on. "Are you ok?" He asked, looking into her eyes, something he found made people feel secure.

(OOC: Sorry for the minor godmod, i didn't know how else for them to meet. :p )

It's fine, I think it's a cute way to meet anyways :)

Gwenneth-Adrie, Gwen for short, was walking down the corridor still putting her books into the bag that was slung over her shoulder from her last class. She was still adjusting to the new courses she had to take at the school. Everything was darker here then at Hogwarts Scotland. Smiling to herself she looked around at the different people as she passed them in a half skip of a walk. Of course she knew better then to read and walk but her mind was still focused on the text book she was just working from when suddenly there was a body infront of her. She found herself for a bried second on the floor and then back up in the arms of a person. Looking through her lashes she saw an older male student talking to her as he held her up. "Oh, it's fine. It happens all the time. I need to pay attention where I'm going," she said her voice drifting past the boy as she saw a few first years goofing off. The decided on sending a spell in the direction of the guy's head. "Silencio," she said taking care of the little boy who had intended to practice a new spell. "First years," she said rolling her eyes but a smile was still on her face.

Jack smiled at the girl as she deflected a spell that had been heading towards him. Realising that she was still in his strong arms, he gently placed her on a bench, smiling down at her. Pointing his wand down the corridor at a group of laughing 1st years, he decided to use his silent spells, rather than letting them know what was coming. Stupefy. He thought, watching satisfactorily as the red jet of light flew out of his wand and hit an unsuspecting victim. "Sorry, where were we. Ah yes, are you ok?" He asked, unsure whether the fall had hurt her in any way at all. He smiled his gorgeous smile and ran a hand through his hair, gazing down at her, wondering what to do. He found himself wondering whether to ask her to a drink in the kitchens, or just to sit with her and chat. He was a big flirt really, but he found that he was actually worried about what would happen to this girl once he left her alone. Especially as she didn't really seem that confident walking around on her own.

Gwen smiled at the once again when he put her on the bench. He was being very nice to her something not many other students here have been so far. She watched the spell he casted hit a first year wondering if all students were bullies to each other here. "Hmm? Oh yes. I'm not hurt or anything, I mean you didn't hit me that hard," she said looking up at the boy as he smiled and ran his hand through his hair. He seemed lost for words so she took the opportunity to use her own. "I'm Gwenneth-Adrie van der Linde, but most people call me by Gwen or Gee," she said holding her hand out in a typical greeting position.

Jack smiled at her again. Seeing her watching the spell he shrugged. "Nothing out of the ordinary. One of his friends will sort him out." He muttered, watching her still. He raised his eyebrows as she held out her hand, thinking that it was very formal but smiling and shaking it nonetheless. "Jack, Jack Evans. Its nice to meet you Gwen. Are you new here? And what year are you in?" He asked, scanning his memory as to whether he had met her before or not. Deciding on the latter, he looked up into her eyes and smiled again.

Gwenneth smiled at him knowing it must not be out of the ordinary for the older students do prank the younger and vice versa. "Nice to met you. I'm sure if it were any other person I would've been left on the floor. I just transfered into 5th year from Hogwarts," she said as she pulled her hand back after shaking his. Curious to see if he would also state the year he was in she didn't bother asking him in return. She could always ask her roommate about him later, that girl seemed to know all the gossip around school. gwen was slightly confused as to why this boy seemed to be smiling all the time, not many people here seemed to be blitheful here, though she was glad to see a happy face for once so she smiled in return.

Jack looked down on the girl as she spoke. "5th year eh? Hogwarts? In Scotland? Im a 7th year. Graduating soon." He said, laughing quietly at the delight of soon leaving these bricks and 1st years behind, to explore the big wide world out there. "Im sure they would, but then it would't be very good for you now would it?" He asked, wondering what she thought of him. Seeing another spell coming out towards him from someone down the corridor, he sent one back. It had become almost a greeting message now, between his friends and him, to send curses and hexes and jinxes to each other to see if they could catch each other off guard. Smirking as his hex hit a 2nd year who looked too arrogant for his own good, Jack turned back to the girl who had his attention. Quickly, but silently, conjuring up a protection shield around them, he turned his full attention to what she was saying, ignoring the hexes bouncing off his shield charm.

Gwen nodded to what he said he did look older then her that was for sure but she hadn't been able to decide between the older grades till her told her he was indeed a 7th year. "Yes, Scotland. But I'm glad to get out of that place," she said recalling the memories mostly drama filled before shrugging them off. She was excited for Jack, he got to leave school and go out into the world next year, while she would have to come back and stick up for herself for another two years. She felt magic flow around them and noticed the spells bouncing off a magical shield and smiled. "So Jack. Is this what Durmstrang students do for fun around here? Cast jinxes at each other," she asked with a bright laugh.

Jack raised his eyebrows at her. "Didn't you know? This is what we spend our time doing." He said, laughing. He found her question rather amusing, as if she had no idea what Durmstrang was all about. Excusing it for her for her only just moving in, he smiled at her again and shrugged. "Well, its something me and my friends do, a sort of greeting you could call it. Its only every now and again that someone could get quite seriously hurt and have to go to the Hospital room, but its just a bit of fun. The first years try to imitate us, but have now learnt its best not to, especially when someone is in a bad mood." He explained, chuckling to himself about it. "But don't worry, i will protect you. Sometimes us boys just don't know when to stop." He said, standing up and throwing another jinx down the corridor. One had skimmed his ear as his concentration had broken, taking the shield with them. It must have been something about Gwen, because normally his concentration lasted for longer. He felt protective over her, almost as if she was a doll that he needed to watch over and make sure that no harm came to it. Smiling again, he sat down and conjured another shield around them. The hustle and bustle was starting to die down now as the younger years filed off to their lessons. "Do you have a lesson to get to?" He asked, hoping that the answer would be no so he could spend more time with her.

Gwen raised her eyebrows in return to him, she wasn't sure what she thought of the way him and his friends greeted each other. Shrugging her shoulders with a smile she sat down next to him watching as other students ran past avoiding hexes on their way to classes. It was going to take her awhile to fit in here that was for sure. "Oh your ear is all red!" She turning raising her hand towards the ear that got hit. "Well now it looks like your ear is blushing," she stated with a laughing, thinking of how some people turned red in the ears instead of the face. Tucking her legs under her in the criss-cross as she shook her head. "No I'm finished with classes for the day." She wasn't sure what drew her to him but he seemed to be a very interesting person and she was enjoying sitting there with him.

Jack smiled again at her. He guessed that she probably wasn't used to hexes firing everywhere, but once she got used to it, she would be joining in. He could vouch for that. Everyone did, but it was best with 7th years. Raising his hand to his ear, he cursed his friend silently under his breath. He would get him back later, with a better hex. Rubbing his ear quickly with his hand, he let the blood slide from it, returning it to its usual colour. Shaking his head slightly, he turned back to Gwen and winked. "It will be fine." He said, uncaring about his own safety. "Ok then." He said, thinking about whether she would be ok to join him in a quieter classroom that was always open and empty. He just wanted to chat, nothing more, but he found the corridor slightly unnerving, especially as everyone could hear their conversation if they left a classroom. "Come with me. There is an old classroom down this corridor that no one ever goes in. Its better than here." He said quietly, standing up. He smiled at her and held out his hand to help her up. He wondered whether she would join him, or whether she would be uncertain of this latest question. Some girls he had met had dirty minds and they were suspicious of him, not sure what he meant by asking them to a classroom. But honestly, it was just a classroom and he just wanted to chat.

Gwen smiled at him leaning back against the wall watching the last of the students running to class. A few groups who didn't have a class were mucking about in the corridors and becoming very loud. She listened to his offered and considered the options for a second before taking his hand and standing up as a spell came racing towards the spot she had been in. "OH! Confundo," she said sending the spell towards where it came from. Another one came in their direction once again but she moved closer to Jack and found herself protected by his shield once again. "Well, It looks like I have a friend somewhere down the hallway, or maybe they mistook me for you," she said with a laugh.

Jack laughed slightly, Gwen seemed to be getting the hang of the spell thing and he guessed that with this knowledge, she would go far in life. Smirking at the student who had sent the spell, he flicked his wand again and sent one final spell down the corridor towards them. He held onto her hand still, wondering if she would mind. "Come on, its just down here." He said, walking down the corridor, his wand still in his hand. As the reached a blank wall, with a single portrait on it, Jack raised his eyebrows at the painted man and he swung open, revealing a quiet classroom with old chairs and desks stacked neatly at the side. Flicking his wand and them, 2 chairs appeared and he sat on one, finally releasing Gwen's hand. "Hardly anyone knows about this room, so you have to keep it a secret." He said with mock seriousness. "So, how are you finding your 5th year then?" He asked, wondering how Durmstrang would appear from an outsider's point of view. He had grown up in the school and it was home to him, not just an old castle where magic was taught.

Gwen smiled up at the taller boy, she knew it would take some getting used to but once she found some more friends she was bond to be great at the hexes and jinxes everyone else seemed to know. She followed behind him as they went down the corridor making sure to stay close as she was unsure of how big of a shield he could make around the two of them. When they stopped infront of a protrait Gwen became excited it was just like being back at Hogwarts. Here the dorms and offices had normal doors nothing was hiden away like Hogwarts was. "Oh, of course. I won't," she said with a smile as they went into the room. It was quiet, a bit dusty but as long as they didn't rouse the dust into the air they wouldn't have a problem with it. "It is, hmm, very interesting," she said trying to find the right words to describe her year so far.

(OOC: Jack's application to be a half-veela has been approved, so i will try to put it in the posts. It just means that he is exceptionally good looking :D )

Jack smiled as she joined him in the classroom. "What does interesting mean? You can be honest. I didn't like my 5th year here either. It was too boring." He said, remembering that all he did in that year was flirt with girls and learn pathetic spells that would be no use to him at all. His 6th year was the best one for him. He found a girlfriend, whom he ended splitting up with after an argument. He also learnt how to do proper magic and finally be able to do silent spells, a part of magic that he only used now. It gave him an advantage and found it very funny to watch people trying to work out what spell was coming at them. The first years obviously didn't know that that sort of magic existed, because they didn't do anything about it and ended up in the hospital wing a lot of the time. He smiled again at Gwen and leaned back, putting his hands behind his head. "Would you like a drink?" He asked, wondering what she would ask for. Some girls he had met tried to drink fire-wiskey, but ended up spluttering with the alcohol in it. He knew that she was under age, but if she wanted some, he wouldn't stop her.

Gwen looked around the room wondering why it was hiden unlike the other classes. "Interesting means, well interesting. Somethings I can see using in my future life others are just boring facts, useless unless you're going to fight nargles," she said with a laugh remembering an old newspaper she had read once that warned of the strange creatures. Sitting down in the other chair she passed a smile towards him. "Ever try this muggle drink called Fanta?" She asked him wondering if many people that went to school enjoyed muggle things or not.

Jack frowned at Gwen. He didn't really know what she was talking about with nargles but when she looked his way, he smiled, the perfect picture of interest. He shrugged when she asked him about the muggle drink, for he didn't really like those, but preferred to drink wizarding drinks. "No, i haven't." He said politely. He ran another hand through his hair, that always sat in the right position, making him look carefree and good looking. Of course, being a half-veela helped, what with the good looks and practise. He had spent a while perfecting his chat up line, but after a few girls, he had got it near perfect. Something about Gwen though, told him not to try it because she didn't seem to be the sort of girl to notice good looks. "Would you like a butterbeer? Or a fire-wiskey?" He asked, wondering what she would prefer. Of course, if she knew where to get this fanta, then he wouldn't stop her. It sounded strange to Jack though, and he wasn't sure about trying it. He made a mental note to ask his cousin, Amelia Johnson, about it next time he spoke to her.

Gwen looked away from him knowing she must have said to much. Kicking her feet back and forth she thought about what she wanted to say next, which was somehting she didn't ever really do. Usually things would just pop out of her mouth, but around here things had to be different. "Of course not. Butterbeer then," she said siding with the drink she already knew wouldn't do any harm. Jack was good looking and she knew that once alcohol got into someones system things could go terribly wrong she didn't want anything more then a friend at that moment of her life. There was always the chance where the guy could convince her to be more then friends but they had to know each other first and right now they only really knew names. "So, tell me about yourself, Jack," she said peering over at him restisting the urge to get some of the purple Fanta that was sitting up in her room, he didn't seem interested in it.

Jack hadn't wanted to upset Gwen by turning down the offer of fanta. "Could you show me what this Fanta is then sometime?" He asked, truly interested now. He smiled as she ordered a butterbeer and gave a flick of his wand. The house elves normally let the students just take drinks as they pleased and were used to the older ones summoning the drinks by magic. He watched as 2 glasses floated through the door, suspended in the air by his wand. A bottle of butterbeer joined them in pursuit and he caught them swiftly. Pouring out equal amounts, he raised his slightly and smiled. "To friendship." He said, before clinking glasses and taking a sip of the liquid. It was now his 2nd favourite drink next to fire-wiskey, but it had always been his favourite before that. "Me? Well, family wise. My grandmother is a full veela and now lives in the mountains in Russia with her husband. My parents own a linkage of muggle hotels with my uncle and aunt. They live in France and all run the hotels from there. My cousin, Amelia is also a half-veela like me but she left home at the age of 13. She is 16 and goes to Beauxbatons. I am an only child and she is like my sister." He said, trying to remember the last time they had spoken. Making a mental note to get in contact with her, he shrugged. "Thats my family. How about you?" He asked, wondering more about this girl who seemed different from other ones that he had met before.

Gwenneth nodded glad for the insurance that they would talk again sometime even if it was for a muggle drink. She took the drink from his hand brushing his hand accidently but she tried not to notice. "I was raised in Germany. My mother is or rather was a Librarian and a muggle when she was alive. My father works for the ministry there and is constantly traveling. So I was basically raised in a Library which basically secured my being in Ravenclaw. When my mother was killed by most certainly my Aunt my father decided that I should change schools and I agreed. There wasn't much there after my boyfriend graduated and decided to marry some Australian babe," she said hate lingering around her. But she quickly got over it knowing she had been mad and sad enough for a life time due to both events piling on top of each other. She put a smile on her face her mind thinking about her father in some foriegn country enjoying what he was doing and forgetting his wife's passing. It was an image that always helped her to stay away from depression.

Jack smiled softly as their hands touched briefly. He listened, various expressions crossing his face as different statements shocked him. It seemed to him that Gwen had had a hard upbringing, what with her mother dying and her father not really caring for her. On top of that, her boyfriend ending up abandoning her. It seemed too much for a girl like her, and Jack wanted to protect her, to stop harm coming to her and to stop her being sad. He knew that this was ridiculous, because this had already happened. But, even though he only had friendship on his mind, if she wanted a boyfriend, he would make sure that he was the first to step up. "Well, if you want another boyfriend, you now know where i am." He said with a cheeky wink. He didn't want to put her under any pressure, just wanted his new friend to be happy. He had girlfriends when he wanted them, and didn't need to get one now, but if she wanted it, then he wouldn't turn her down. Smiling at her encouragingly, he put his hand on hers and squeezed it gently, a sign of caring affection from him. "Thats so hard for you." He said, trying to be sympathetic. He found it hard to know what to say, what with him not really being sure on her feelings on it all. She had given him the facts, but no thoughts on it. Wondering what her opinion was on boys now, he smiled at her and took another sip of his drink.

Gwen tried to smile at his offer but it didn't seem very convincing at least to her. She figured he must be on a break like her and just felt bad for her. Though she wasn't sure and he was good looking, if the last boy hadn't hurt her so much she might've taken him up on his offer. Now however if he really was interested in her he would have to prove it like anyother girl that wanted her. Taking a sip of the butterbeer she took the chance to look away from him and around the room. Gwennie, she shuttered as she heard the echo of her nickname in her head she hoped no one here would take a liking to it, she hated it now. "Ein Unglück kommt selten allein. One disaster rarely comes alone, old german saying my father would say anything went wrong," she stated looking back at Jack. She smiled at him then floating back into her usual personality, she wasn't ready for a boy that didn't fully want her she never would be. Lessoned learned. "What are, um, your favorite classes?" She asked bringing up a different topic.

Jack smiled to himself. He had found a sensible girl here, one who didn't seem obsessed with herself so much that she would date a guy she hardly knew. He liked her logic, and found himself warming to her even more than usual with a girl. He smiled at her now, wanting her to feel fine about her desicion, not under any pressure. He hadn't really meant it as much as it seemed she had thought, so he was glad that she had declined. Feeling protective of her is she was like that with guys, he looked at her, a reasurring look upon his handsome face. "Thats fine." He said, not noticing the change into German. He spoke it ok, not fluently like French, but he had got to a stage where common and easy phrases came naturally, not needing a lot of thought. He noticed the change in subject, wondering what had provoked it. "My favourite subjects? They would be the dark arts, and potions and flying." He said carelessly, wondering what she thought of the dark arts and the way they were taught at Durmstrang.

Gwen nodded glad that he didn't mind to much being turned down. Of course he could find himself another girl around the school but it wasn't something she was up to doing with just anyone. She was planning on waiting to date someone who she knew, really knew. Gwen didn't want to go through the trouble of a hard break up once again so she was being careful. "Really? My favorite class is Potions too. I'm not a fan so much of the others," she said looking away from Jack. She still didn't know how to handle taking the Dark Arts. For the past four years of school it was Defense Against the Dark Arts, now she had to take the Dark Arts, such a twist in events.

Jack smiled at her, guessing that most people in the school liked Potions. It was an easy going lesson that was almost a break for him. He enjoyed most of his subjects now, but when he had been in other years, he had thought of them as a waste of time. But, slowly he was falling back into this pattern of thinking and was now struggling to keep up with trying to act like he enjoyed them. He wanted to be free, to explore the world, to enjoy life for what it was. He turned his head back to face Gwen. "What do you want to do once you have left school then?" He asked her, wondering if she had made any plans yet or was thinking of doing a specific job. It was always good to plan ahead in his opinion.
