September 20th, 2049 was not meant to be eventful. There was still a week and a half before Cyan's due date, and Iris had been almost a full week late. However as Cyan awoke early to listen to the loons and work on a sales pitch to sell herself as a stylist, it quickly became apparent that it would not be the same. A splash on the floor, and the woman's eyes widened. "Uh... Uh... Ai..." it hit Cy very quickly that Aion was not home. Her water had broken adn Aion wasn't home. She moved herself from the kitchen to the area they had prepared for the home birth. It wasn't until she was nearing the enchanted item to alert her midwife that she realized her ring was a vibrant crimson. There was no way Aion couldn't know that she was in labor. She called for the midwife with the item and began slowing her breathing. However she heard her daughter in the jumper now crying. "Oh Merlin Aion, please be fast."

Aion still had three days before he was due to go home to his wife and daughter, and spend four weeks at the couples new home in New Zealand. They'd managed to find a gorgeous house a few months prior that would act as their base for the family as they watched their children grow, until the time that they were old enough to travel once more as a group. Aion had so many plans, so many places he wanted to take them all and show them, but their safety was always going to come first, and he trusted Cyan to raise them during the weeks when he was away. Taking time out in chunks was straining, but as long as they could make it work between them first, they were happy for Aion to continue his career as a Magizoologist.

In the last few weeks of Cyan's pregnancy, Aion had agreed not to leave New Zealand. While it was easy to travel further with various means, should there have been an emergency it wouldn't have taken a huge amount of time to reach her. What he didn't expect though, was to have to enforce that emergency. The man had been in the middle of attempting to take a blood sample from a sleeping swooping evil, that had only taken most of the day waiting to approach, but when he lifted the vial towards the green creatures spikes, his eyes met the bright red metal that was glowing around the ring finger on his right hand. He'd never actually seen it bright red before. Even when Cyan was angry or upset it never turned red. The rings he'd bought them nearly five years ago hadn't been much more of sentimental value, and an item he wore constantly to feel close to his wife while away, and seeing it shine now brought sudden horror to his mind.

He back tracked as quickly as he could, knowing he had to return to Cyan as fast as he could. It could have been the baby, but it could have been something else. Merlin, he'd never even considered that Iris could have done with one too, to know if she were also in trouble. What if something terrible had happened at the house? He apparited the fastest route he knew how, landing in a sweaty nauseated heap in the garden seventeen minutes later. He darted across the lawn and up the stairs, bursting into the lodge, partly relieved it wasn't on fire but upon entering, all he could hear was various cries coming from one side of the house. "Cyan?" he called out as he ran through the house, headed towards the noise that was quickly breaking his heart. At least they were here, at least they were here and he could do something.

Outside the world was peaceful, inside the house was not. Cyan had made it to Iris, but she could barely lift the baby - if she was hit with a contraction while holding their small child, she'd easily drop her on her head. Goodness knows they didn't need a child with Brain damage, after all Cyan was enough of a child for Aion to take care of. "Get Iris!" She yelled upon hearing her husband enter the house. It was so typical as a mother that even in pain, Cyan's mind was on her child and the safety of her kin. Perhaps that was love.

Clutching her stomach the girl peaked out the room. "Do you uhm want the good news or the bad news?" She asked with a crooked smile, her gaped teeth straining through her lips as a contraction lightly pulled at her stomach. "Hmmm. Okay both. Bad news is she's coming early, good news is the mess should be easy to clean." She spoke, referencing the water breaking in the house. "I already signaled the midwife, Aion, I just needed you. I can't do this without you." She spoke, looking at her husband. She moved around the room, hearing that walking sometimes helped with labor pains. This was going to be a long night - Iris had been a short labor, but unfortunately this child would not be the same.

While things had been difficult with Iris' birth, at least she was their first child and they didn't have their hands full while contending with one on the way. The man headed towards the sound of his daughter, who was still crying in between attempts to break free of her jumper. At over a year old she was getting stronger by the week, but so were her lungs apparently. "Hey, come here you," his voice was instantly relaxed as he spoke to the brown haired baby, unstrapping her and lifting her out, placing the girl on his hip as he walked towards his wife. Iris began to settle instantly once she felt as though there wasn't as much chaos around her, and while Aion was quietly panicking at the situation that was unfolding, he wasn't going to be showing their daughter, or Cyan, any of that.

With Iris still to one side, Aion wrapped his free arm over Cyan's shoulder, pulling them together for a moment to kiss her forehead. While it was certainly not a situation he'd be prepared for that day he was glad it wasn't something that put their lives in danger too. "I'm not going anywhere," he'd always say it and he had always meant it. His family was his home and there was no way Cyan was going to be able to get rid of him, no matter how hard she cried and yelled. He released her to allow her to walk; anything that she thought would make things easier to handle. With any luck the midwife would be here shortly, and with Iris whimpering in his arm he turned to smile reassuringly at her, "Someone's about to become a big sister!"

There was not a time where Cyan would have wished a fourteen hour labor on her worst enemy. Not even her father. Okay maybe her father. She felt like the baby was never going to come out. Her midwife stayed by her side through the whole thing, and to try and not wake the baby Cyan kept her swearing to a minimum. The girl whose hair was black and blonde once more could feel it sticking to her forehead with sweat. Fourteen long hours passed and finally, with one last push she was there. A she - poor Aion was going to have his hands full.

The woman looked over to her husband as things were slowly cleaned up and the midwife was able to leave. She smiled looking at the baby. "Hey." However her smile turned to a frown when the baby opened her eyes. "You know. 14 hours I pushed - and she comes out looking like you." She laughed. "Go figure." It was your turn to pick the name, what did you decide on?" She asked. "I will revoke if it's ugly though." She joked again, obviously feeling better - but tired - after the ordeal.

Aion didn't know how much time had passed until Iris fell asleep against him, but when she had he was able to tuck her back into her own bed. Usually Iris slept in their room, but since it wouldn't have been good to have her awaken, Aion had moved her into the room next door, checking on her every now and then for feeding and changing as the evening went on. This birth was certainly lasting longer than the last, and the magizoologist was glad that they had a midwife here with them to help too.

After what felt like an eternity, Cyan was giving all the strength she had left as Aion was doing his best to keep her relaxed, moving the hair out of her face when she needed it. And then she was there. She. Even though Aion was shattered himself, and only cared that his family were healthy, he still chuckled at her teasing, “Is that so terrible?” He kissed her hair before gazing down at their latest addition. So much for the herbs. Aion had thought long and hard about names, trying to find one that would fit with the tradition of four letters for a Zephyr, and a mix of Greek and a colour that would suit their little family. “What about Demi? Demi Zephyr,” his eyes were fixed on his daughters, it was strange to see someone who shared so many features to himself, but he couldn’t have been more overjoyed to call himself the father of two girls.

Cyan chuckled, accepting the affection. She loved everything about their little family. No amount of the child being a surprise would take that away from her. No amount of Aion being away from work would make her stray. There was nothing more that Cyan loved in this moment, than what they had created. "I guess not, you are kinda cute after all." She said. "Demi." She whispered the name. It rolled off her tongue. Demi and Iris would be unstoppable forces in the coming future - especially with Aion and herself behind them.
