The evening air was very close, the sky was clear and darkness seemed a long time off as the long stretch in the evenings continued. Summer was indeed a glorious time but in the Southern hemisphere it had a penchant for being claustrophobic even out doors. Today was no different, the streets themselves seemed heated. Not a single person wore a cloak or robe as they walked about fanning themselves, beads of perspiration glistening off exposed skin.
Venus walked through the main street of Wellington clad in her usual black leather pants and fitted jacket, charmed to keep the heat out on days like this. Her long black hair flowed down her back as she bobbed and weaved through the heated tourists and natives of the popular town. Not sure where she was going but feeling instinctively that she would know when she got there. Curious looks were common and she let them gawp at her today with little more than a smile playing on her perfectly painted pink lips.
Stopping directly in front of the store she frowned slightly as she looked in the window. The owls here looked pathetic, as if they could barely fly an inch not to mind the distances she was hoping for. Her hand tapped her side, her long fingers drumming out of annoyance. This was so not want she had expected, if there were better shops that specialized in hiring out owls then she certainly didn't know of one. Twirling about on the edge of her heel she scanned the passers-by for someone who looked as if they might know.
"Excuse me, you... do you happen to know if there's another.. post office of sorts around here?" it wasn't the most polite she had ever been but it would have to do, her broken English was still easy to understand even though every syllable had been punctuated with her Italian accent.
