Third Years, Lesson One

Landon was very excited to be teaching his new batch of third years after a fun year last year looking after the Mandrakes. It was definitely a challenge for some of them, but they had done it, and Landon couldn't be more proud of them for learning a new skill. The man confidently stood at the front of the Herbology greenhouse with a smile on his face, hoping that they would enjoy their lessons this semester.

Once all of the students had entered the classroom and taken a seat, Landon began to speak to the class. "Good afternoon class and welcome to your third year of Herbology!" Landon exclaimed, smiling at his students. “For those of you who don’t know me, I'm Professor Carter and I will be your permanent professor until the end of your fourth year. Today's lesson is going to be rather informative and I deeply apologise for how boring it's going to be. Lucky for you, next lesson will be much better. But for now please sit as I give you a lecture." Landon watched as a couple of the third years moaned and turned around to tap his wand on the chalkboard behind him which began to write dot points about different countries and famous herbologists.

* China is the most populated country in the world. They are most famous for Herbology.

* Chinese herbologist, Shennong wrote the first Chinese herbal medicine book which contains 365 herbs and their uses.

* Each country has their own philosophy and spiritual context regarding the way they do Herbology.

"Please copy down each of the dot points. They will all be useful for the exam at the end of the year and I've simplified them for you all." Landon paused and smiled at his class, preparing himself for what he was going to say next. "The main leading country in Herbology is China. Herbalism dates back to the Mesopotamia but China still uses herbal medicine till this day. There are also some countries that practice Herbalism but their muggle government doesn't really approve of the idea. Africa, the Americas, India and Indonesia are among other leading countries that still practice Herbalism. Though, in today's era, muggle Universities, and not just Wizarding schools, offer a course in Herbalism." Herbology linking to the muggle world was always what made the young man happy. He was always interested in the links between the muggle world and the wizarding world and was glad to teach his students what he knew.

When the lesson ended, Landon waved goodbye to his students as they packed up their belongings and exited the classroom. He wasn't too happy with how boring the lesson was for the students but he knew that if they listened to the content that they would all get good marks in the exam which was what he was hoping for. Next lesson they would be doing a lot more things which Landon was exceptionally excited for.

Henri headed to the herbology greenhouse and took his usual spot int he room. he glanced to the professor as the man got started. Nodding and taking down what appeared on the board, wondering if given this was a simplified version if they'd end up with a much more in depth version later. He took some notes from what the professor then told them before the lesson was then wrapped up, he packed up his things and headed out of the room.

Mania made her way to the Greenhouse, more or less looking forward to what they'd learn this year. As long as she didn't have to look after a mandrake only to send it away again she'd be happy. Or grow a pumpkin and watch it smash on the floor... RIP Pampam! Giving a big grin to her professor she did a small silly salute before finding herself a spot in the classroom. Straightening her skirt, that was made out of Gryffindor ties, she began listening to the man. Her nose wrinkled a tiny bit at the mention of taking notes, but she complied. Noting down as much as she could, though nobody better be taking any peeks at her notes because well, they only made sense to her. By the end of the class she headed out with a cheerful bye to the professor.

Tessaria was looking forward to a new semester, however she didn't really enjoy classes all that much. She just hoped she would be able to get through them all, especially with the homework that she was sure was quickly going to pile up and with the addition of some new classes this semester. She somehow managed to cope fine last semester, and she hoped this semester would be a repeat of that.

The Gryffindor entered the Herbology greenhouse where her father was waiting to teach them all. She listened as he simply went over what they'd be learning about that semester and gave them a short lecture about some history of Herbology and the countries that practice it. Her father had previously told her that her third year of Herbology would be easy after all the commotion the previous year with the mandrakes, and Tess was thankful for that. Eventually the class was dismissed and Tess headed straight back to the castle to attend her next class.

Autumn was looking forward to going back to Hogwarts but was most definitely not looking forward to classes. She didn’t like the idea of having to study as she felt it was going to be a big waste of her time. Most of what she would learn, she would learn in everyday life. What did it matter for her to learn about the wizarding world’s history, or how to brew a potion she was never going to make? She packed her backpack with a sour look on her face and almost had to drag herself to her first class for the semester.

As Autumn entered the Herbology greenhouse, she sighed as the professor began to lecture them. Herbology didn't usually contain lectures, and of course they were starting off the semester that way. She hoped that it wasn't going to be like that all year, especially after the previous year with the mandrakes. The Slytherin tried her best to take notes until the completion of the lesson.
