Tori still couldn’t believe how close it was to Christmas, and she couldn’t believe even moreso when she’d made the decision to go back for a second semester. She’d fully intended on coming back to the school, but she didn’t feel like she was finished yet, so she had asked her very best friends to meet her, she hoped they were in the area because she would have hated to think they’d come back just for her. Still, it would be nice to see them. She spotted Lilith almost immediately and caught sight of Eoghan not long after, rushing over to them to wrap her arms around each of them one at a time. Ugh, she couldn’t believe it had been so long, even if they had been exchanging letters, it was nice to see them again after so long. “Ahhhh! Lil! Yew! Hi! I’ve missed you both so much!” She told them, loudly.

@Lilith Ilves @Eoghan Blyth

Eoghan was very much looking forward to Tori's return. When he'd found out she was leaving he'd been distraught, but the time had passed quicker than he thought and while he wasn't prepared to wait it out again, he was glad the time for his best friend to come back to Hogwarts was here. He'd been writing to Tori about her time at Durmstrang over the last semester, and was looking forward to hearing more about the stories and things she'd been up to in person. "Hey!" He'd turned in time to see Tori embracing Lili, before following suit himself, squeezing her slightly to the point he was practically lifting her off the ground. He was convinced he may have grown but she certainly had not. "I've missed you too," he added truthfully. Now if someone could go back in time and tell himself that was the case when he was a first year on the train to school for the first time, that would have been nice.

Lilith had missed Tori a lot. When the Gryffindor had first told them she'd be leaving for a semester Lilith had been fairly upset but in the end she'd hoped her best friend would have good experiences while away. Now though she was very excited to get her back. Her face lit up with a smile as she spotted her and she rushed towards the girl in the same way she'd rushed towards her. Happily embracing her. "I missed you too!" The Ravenclaw said, tears brimming her eyes as they separated. It was a happy reunion, but she wasn't above crying over it. "First and foremost, your boyfriend. Stefan. Whats the situation with that currently?" Lilith asked, getting the important gossip out the way. Honestly if they were still going strong, if they were now like dating that was, that meant that Tori would be in a long distance relationship now, right? Glancing at Eoghan, Lili thanked her lucky stars that wouldn't be her. Holidays were enough time apart from her friends and boyfriend.

Tori pulled back out of the hugs just enough to look between the two of her friends and smile, telling herself she wasn’t a baby and not to cry. Merlin she hadn’t even been away that long - there was no excuse for this. “Ugh, you two are going to make me cry,” she said, shaking her head because she was going to refuse to be a baby. But then Lilith dropped the question and she made a whole face. “Okay sooo… about that.” she wasn’t entirely sure how to say this, and so she looked at her feet a little. She wasn’t even entirely sure what it was that she was telling her best friends, only that it existed. “We’re not… not together, exactly? But also not not talking? We’ve still been writing, and like, it’s fine, but I dunno.” honestly she was a little worried that when she came back they would not talk at all, but she wanted to give it a go at least a little bit. “It’s hard when you’re in different countries, and there’s only so much ink can do before you’re just sitting there going, ‘Do I even remember what his voice sounds like?’” She shrugged and then sighed. “But that’s why I’m going back when the break is over, give it a bit more time, you know?” Oh… oops, she hadn’t meant for it to come out quite like that.

Eoghan wasn't sure quite what was happening. One moment Tori was reuniting with them and the next, she was telling them she was going to stay at Durmstrang, purely to give a boy she wasn't dating a "bit more time". The blonde simply blinked at her for a moment, wondering if she was playing some sort of joke. "I thought you were there to discover things about yourself, not because of a boy," Eoghan wanted to be harsher, given that he thought it was ridiculous that her plans were changing drastically because of someone else. This was supposed to be Tori's thing; not a thing she did to please Stefan. The only reason he held his tongue was because of Lilith. He'd broken some of his own rules for her too so who was he to question Tori. What if it was Lilith at Durmstrang, that Eoghan was now talking to? He'd not be able to stay away either. "So you're, not coming back?" Eoghan was barely meeting Tori's gaze, wondering how things had changed so much so quickly.

One moment there was a smile on Lilith's face, excited to hear all about her best friends situation with the boy. Then the next second the smile had fallen off her face. "Oh..." She muttered quietly, shifting her weight onto one leg and rubbing her hands up and down her arms. This was a change of plans, in one hand Lilith wanted to be encouraging and tell her friend to do what's best for her. Live her life to the fullest, but in the other a promise had been broken and what was to say if it was this easy for her to make her time at Durmstrang longer by a semester, that it wouldn't be just as easy to make it another year. And another, and another.... Stopping her mind from spiraling Lilith bit the inside of her cheek, letting her eyes roam over their surroundings. Clearing her throat she tried to think of something to say. "Uh, who else have you told about this? That you aren't coming back yet like you promised," Lilith was well aware that she and Eoghan weren't the only one's Tori had made the promise to. There were quite a few people in their year group alone expecting to be reunited with the Gryffindor after the holidays.

Tori’s face fell immediately, she didn’t know how to explain this and now it seemed like she’d inadvertently upset her best friends. That’s what it seemed like, since neither of them were smiling. She blinked, stunned alittle by their reactions. Her excitement immediately dulled, and she felt like she might shrivel up, especially after Lilith calls her out on her promise. “It’s just one more term. That’s all. I just—there’s stuff I didn’t finish there. Not just with Stefan. Not because of Stefan.Speaking to her mother had gone about as well as this too, she supposed. Her voice cracked a little, she couldn’t help it when she turned to look at Eoghan more directly. “You know that wasn’t the reason I left in the first place. You know I didn’t go there for a boy, I went because—” She took a moment to breathe, these are her best friends, she can explain it to them, she can tell them what she’s doing and they’ll understand right? She trusts them, she loves them, and that wasn’t going to change because she wanted to see how things went in one extra month, but she loved New Zealand, and Durmstrang was cold. She had to see this out and then she could come back refreshed. “Because I needed to figure out if I could do something hard. Alone. And I did. But… then I got offered something there, something for next term, and I did think about it, okay? And maybe part of me does want to see where things go with him, but that’s not all of it.” Maybe she’d started this off the wrong way.

She turned back to Lily then with her heart somewhere in the vicinity of her throat. “I haven’t told everyone yet. I wanted to tell you two first, because I thought… I hoped… you’d understand.” And she was sure they did, sure they would if she could only explain properly. They’d let communication problems nearly cause them issue before and she wasn’t about to let that happen for a second time. Never. Not with her two best friends in the whole world. “I’m not staying there forever. I promise. Just until the end of next term. Then I’m home. Back here. For good.” They didn’t have a Eoghan and a Lilith there and outside of Stefan and a couple of others she didn’t have that many friends there. Here she had Eoghan and Lilith and Susie and Nox and William and Jasper and… maybe Felix? She hoped Felix, and she hoped she could reconnect with Esme too. Things were so complicated, would they all hate her? She folded her arms over her chest a little, hugging herself in slight frustration. “I didn’t want it to feel like a betrayal,” she added, much softer, “but I guess I really messed that up, huh?” She wasn't going back on her word, she was just... extending it. Things had changed and she didn't want to make things worse, but she needed to understand something, and she felt like she needed to be in Durmstrang to do it. Just for a little bit longer.

Eoghan wasn't sure he agreed with Lilith when she questioned her breaking her promise. Yes, Tori had said she was coming back, but if staying in Durmstrang was something she felt she needed to do, then sticking by a comment she'd made six months ago would have been silly to follow through with. Plans changed, Eoghan understood that. It wasn't a plan Eoghan was glad to hear about but the more Tori explained why she needed to stay, the more he realised they needed to not get in her way of achieving that. "It's not betrayal," Eoghan told her firmly, glancing between both girls finally. "It's a shock. Having you not around has been.. the school has felt empty." Without the Gryffindors presence, everything seemed a little quieter and Eoghan didn't feel it was quieter in the good way. As Lilith asked who else she'd told, unless Tori had told anyone in a letter, which was unlikely given she'd waited until today to tell them, then currently no one else knew. He nodded as his thoughts were confirmed, "We understand. And even if the others don't at first, they will." They'd already waited this long hadn't they? It would just be even more exciting when she came back for good. If she came back for good. It was Susie that Eoghan felt he was going to need to check in with most; she'd been so upset when Tori had first told the group. The Ravenclaw could only hope Freddie being around now would give her a good distraction. "We have a lot to update you with." He added, half a smile growing on the corner of his mouth.
