Prudence Armstead stood infront of the full length mirror that hung over the door to the bathroom, looking at herself in the mirror. To be honest, it didn't even look like her. Her brown hair, which was usually tied back, was spun into soft ringlets. The ringlets were held down with light amounts of hairspray and gel, and laid a bit shorter than her straight hair did. They framed her face loosely and were topped off by a decorative headband, with pinks and blues that matched the dress that she had yet to put on. Prudence couldn't believe the things her fathers did for her; the way they'd sent everything they could to make sure she was beautiful for her first dance. They kept joking about her snagging a man, but she knew it was a joke, after all, she was only eleven years old. It was just like her parents to be thinking toward the future.

Prue stilled her thoughts and looked toward the pink bundle of cloth that was hanging up. It had a side zipper, thank Merlin, and was full length. It was cut right to her size, which probably cost her parents quite a bit of money. Prue knew that they weren't going to spare any expenses when it came to her though. It was almost a heartwarming feeling to know that Ben and Marc always wanted the best for her, in life and every aspect of living. When she said that she needed a few new books to read, she came home to find a bookshelf full of them. Many people thought that she was spoiled - and it could be true - but Prudence was also very thankful for the many blessings that she had incurred in life. Like the satin and tulle gown, that now clung to her body. Prudence looked in the mirror and was surprised. The young woman starring back at her was not her, and she was sure of it. The curls were too gentle and smooth, and did she have curves peeking out from her dress? Her eyes were soft, and framed with thick, full lashes that were enhanced with makeup, as were her lips. Would Zach even know her when he saw her? She looked so much like a young woman, and not a tomboy girl.

Prue left the common room and headed down the stairs. The only thing that hadn't changed, was the fact that Prudence wasn't wearing heels. Instead she had on pink ballet flats, which were comfortable and easy to dance like a fool in. Finally Prudence reached the great hall, and through the crowd she spotted Zach, who was dressed rather handsomely. Prudence, nervous to be in such clothing, approached him. "Zach?" She asked with a smile, hoping her friend would recognize her at first glance.

Zach didn't know what to expect at the Yule ball and he didn't know what to expect when he would meet up with Prue. He stood in the boys dorm in the Ravenclaw common room pulling on his dress room, some of his dorm mates were discussing the dance and of who between them had managed to get dates. Zach had kept quiet on his, although technically he had a date, he and Prue had agreed to go together as friends, partly because they had just met and partly because they were only eleven. The common room had been filled with noises of excitement all day, mostly from the older girls who's dates to the dance were considered a little more serious than that of their younger house mates. In fact, the fact that it was Christmas had been over looked by the majority of Ravenclaw house.

With his dress robes fully on Zach made his way down into the common room where the rest of his dressed house mates had gathered to discuss the dance, a few couples had already met up, for Zach and some of the others it wasn't that simple. When asked about his date by an older student, Zach would be subjected to a lecture on the difficulties of dating someone in a different house, despite Zach's objections that she was a friend, he would then be advised to look closer to home. Zach hadn't considered this to be a date, he was too young for that.

Soon, it was time for Zach to head out of the common room and make his way down towards the Great hall with the rest of the Ravenclaws. There was a large congregation of students outside the hall when they arrived and he began to look around for familiar faces to see if the Gryffindors, and more importantly Prue, had arrived yet. Suddenly someone tapped him on the shoulder and he turned to greet them when he was suddenly lost for words. Stood before him was Prue, only it didn't look like the Prue he knew. She looked amazing, "Hi...err, you look... amazing," He stammered out as he adjusted the collar on his dress robes, fully he aware he sounded like a babbling idiot.

There were so many colors. While the school was decorated in yule style decorations, the thing that caught Prudence's eyes was the other girls' dresses. There were pinks, blues, greens and other colors, all varying shades and styles. In all honesty, Prudence actually thought all the dresses were flattering. Well, almost all of them. There were a few girl's who picked dresses that Prudence's fathers would burn before letting her wear. Prudence had considered the dress a Christmas present, so when she had received a parcel with it that said do not open until Christmas, she was surprised. It was typical of her parents though, to spoil her with gifts and whatnot.

Prudence had only been talked to by a few girls about a date, to which she said she didn't have one. After all, she was meeting with a friend. They might dance once or twice tonight, but it was nothing like the older girls were speaking of. In fact, Prudence couldn't believe some of the things the older students said that they were going to be doing. It mortified the young Gryffindor who, until two years ago, thought boys had cooties.

However, Prudence had changed her focus of attention when she say Zach. His dress robes were nice, considering some men couldn't be bothered to even look that nice. He looked older than he was, though Prue supposed that with her make up, she did as well. A bit of heat clung to her cheeks at his comment. The only people she was used to getting compliments from was her parents and their friends; it was a new experience. "Thank you. You look very nice as well." She said, though her statement was a bit more even than his. "I like your robes..." She said, furthering the compliment a little, because she did like that he was dressed so nicely. "You wanna get some punch or something?" She asked, now feeling a little awkward, though she wasn't sure why.
