What are they saying? Can't you hear them whispering?

It was just a nightmare Kai Norton sat as he breathe shorter and deeper than before. He dreamt of a little boy with unbelievable magic skill transforming into a dementor, attacking him. What does it mean? The young man rose from his bed, walking toward the kitchen and got himself a glass of water. His sweat rolled down to his cheek as his heart pounded faster than before. Three of the Nortons had been getting nightmares each night and their stories were all related. If they were lucky, the nightmare should mean nothing. The young man glanced at himself in the mirror, he was tall, muscular yet weak. Kai was strong in the outside but he was sensitive in the inside, this was the reason why he wouldn't hesitate to hurt other people when they mess with his feelings. And the worst part is that he doesn't care what's his opponent's gender is, if he's out of control, he's out of control just like a twelve years old not getting his first racing broom.

The Norton believed in arranged marriage as the best way of living. All the children were paired up since they were young. Kai and Kay were alright with their future mates but both have problems in being loyal to their future to be husband or wife. The youngest of the family was a whole different person, Erica resembled nothing from the family. Kai now lived with Natsumi or at least both had a home for them but a lot of time Kai lived somewhere else leaving Natsumi alone. Sometimes Kai would act kind and loving toward Natsumi but a lot of time he would just ignore her or let her know that she worth nothing to him. But deep inside, he loved her. A lot of time right after Natsumi leave the house after their fights, Kai would always be there watching wherever she goes, he wanted nobody to harm her, she was his and his only. She was his toy, his property, and he wasn't going to share her with anyone. Disloyalty before marriage was in their blood, all the family had the similar history. Poor... Poor Natsumi...

Natsumi rolled over and could immediately feel the emptiness of the bed. She opened her eyes to double check and noticed that the blankets were ruffled, but Kai was nowhere to be seen. She sighed and sat up in the bed, her eyes taking a second to adjust to the darkness. She wasn't sure what time it was, nor did she really care, all she knew was that Kai was not in the room. She pulled the blankets off of her legs and swung them over the side of her bed. The cool night air reaching her bare skin and making goose bumps appear. Natsumi shivered slightly and grabbed her robe off of the chair in the corner and wrapped it around her body. She could see a light was on outside the room, she she guessed that Kai was in the kitchen. She yawned momentarily and rubbed her eyes, clearing the sleep from them. Her hair was down, as it always was when she slept, so she brushed it with her fingers to ensure she wouldn't look like Medusa. Then she made her way out of the bedroom of she and Kai and headed for where the light was, which was in the kitchen it seemed. She nodded. Of course he would be in the kitchen. Probably for water, or something.

She reached the kitchen and peaked inside. Kai was indeed inside and was drinking a glass of water. She walked closer to him, and pulled herself up onto the counter next to him, he looked alittle troubled, had he had a nightmare? She really had no idea about what her feelings were regarding Kai. He was older then she was and he was never at home anyway, she rarely saw him because of this. Not to mention he was a player, always dating other girls. It really made her angry, yet still she tolerated it all, in the hopes of making her family proud. The Norton's were a powerful and rich family, like her own and she was required to do whatever her parents asked of her, and it had been approved by Hailey Mckay, the matriarch of the family Kumiko was indebted too. Because of her breaking the arranged marriage, her family was to serve the Smith/Mckay's until such time as another arrangement could be made, who knew how long that would be. However, as soon as Natsumi became engaged to Kai, her service was terminated in order for her time to be spent with Kai and the Norton family. She sighed, sometimes she didn't understand the intricate details of the different styles of Pureblood laws. Every family had their own. She crossed her legs and placed her hands in her lap. She never touched Kai unless he wanted her too, she always knew when he wanted her too. "Kai. Why are you up at this hour? You need your rest." She spoke softly and smoothly allowing slight concern into her voice. Though it was not known to her whether it was fake or true. She wasn't even sure if she was loved by the man she was supposed to marry, so she was always careful. She did as she was told. It was the way things were now.

A soft, calm voice of Natsumi's was heard by Kai. She was beautiful, her dark brown hair, brown eyes, personality, she was perfect. Such a shame that the twenty four years old man couldn't express how he felt toward her. Instead of showing how he truly feels, he wanted her to have fear in him, to obey him just like a little house elf. Kai had always been treated like this since he was a child, he was the eldest and he was expected to be perfect, to be the duplicate of his parents. Poor… Poor Natsumi for dealing with a troubled twenty four years old stuck in his past. Kai showered Natsumi with gifts and money, even though he had different partners, he wouldn't give them as much as he give Natsumi. This man was afraid of getting his heart ripped into pieces, that was the only reason why he couldn't trust his heart to the Japanese beauty, Natsumi. "I will come to work on time and I will transfer the gallleons to your account" His definition of love is to shower them with loads of money and material things. Kai wasn't really sure if Natsumi wanted his money or him, after all the arrange marriage thing wasn't his idea and no matter how much she tried to impress him, she was never enough in his eyes.

Gently Kai Norton placed his glass to the sink as he tapped the sink with his wand, making it clean all the dishes by it's self. The young man eyed his fiance as he showed no emotion to her, he caress her soft rosy cheek before walking toward the couch. "Get me my papers" He placed his palm to his forehead, his head pounded worse than before. His routine was killing him, he worked non stop even on weekends. "F*ck" He muttered as he laid on the couch, taking a deep breath before closing his eyes. Kai had been stressing over his work, some of the clients weren't satisfied with his service. No matter how hard Kai work, he was still nothing in his father's eyes. His father would view Kai the same as other employees or at least he wouldn't show this man how much he worth for him. "I'm meeting up with Kay in Paris next week and… I've some business" Business could mean two things, working and then meeting up with girls or meetings with his father's people. Kai knew that Natsumi was originally from France and that her family lived there. But this young man was tricky, he didn't invite her to come along. He wanted her to ask him for it, he loved knowing that she needed his permission to come with him. Knowing that he had a power toward her and toward other people who work for him made him feel superior.

Natsumi watched Kai patiently. He would answer her when he was ready and not a moment before. This was how it was between them. There were times when he would not answer her at all and instead they would stay in silence. It was hard for the eighteen year old in these times, because she didn't like silence. Coming from a rather large family, silence was not natural for her. Though the silence between them never seemed to be uncomfortable, only annoying, atleast it was that way for her. She knew she was doing her family proud by marrying Kai, but often she found herself wondering why she could not have a relationship like Hikari's. Noah and Hikari loved each other so much. Both her eldest brothers, Jun and Kazuo loved their wives and treated them like princesses, but it seemed that Natsumi was not to be afforded that luxury. It was true, Nobuo and Satoru both had arranged marriages as well, but their wives, Teru and Hatsue were the same age as them and were equals in the relationship. Thinking about those facts made her sigh slightly, but she managed to keep it quiet, hoping that Kai had not heard. It would likely lead to a fight, many of which ended with her leaving the house. She didn't want to have to go out tonight, it was far too cold and she was less then appropriately dressed. She mostly only wore clothes that she thought would impress Kai, but still she had yet to see any sort of reaction from him. As much as it annoyed her, there was nothing that could be done. The only was out of this was death. That was alittle drastic at this point.

He soon spoke and Natsumi stayed quiet. He spoke of adding yet another payment of galleons to her account. She hadn't even used the last lot yet. She had everything she needed already and she didn't like spending his money on herself. It made her feel dependent on him, more so then she already had to be. She wondered if maybe Kai thought that money made her happy, or maybe it was some sort of bribe. But either way it made her feel cheap. It was for this reason that she rarely used his money, she was beginning to accumulate quite a fortune all on her own. It didn't matter how much she was trying to impress him, she was sure he preferred those other wh*res he dated. Otherwise, why else would he date them? She didn't know if he slept with them or not, but she didn't care, as far as she was concerned, he would always have to return to her, which, in a way, made her feel kind of empowered, but it was such a small feeling that it often went unnoticed under the feeling of entrapment that she was consumed by. It didn't matter how many gifts Kai showered her with, she was never going to feel happy, she could sense it. She watched as he placed his glass in the sink, and gently slipped off the counter, pulling her dress down as it slipped up slightly. It was cold enough as it was without her thighs touching the stone cold bench any longer then they had too. She was slightly taken back when he suddenly caressed her cheek, it was a foreign feeling, and lacked emotion, but atleast it was something. He then told her to get his papers and she left in the opposite direction to him, searching for what he asked her for.

Following Kai back into the lounge room, Natsumi placed what he had asked for in front of him and then sat on her knees across from him. She did not sit on the lounge, but instead placed her hands in her lap and faced her head down. The submissive Japanese bride. Atleast bride to be. It was a notion her parents had taught her from a young age. His sudden swear had shocked her, but she did not show it. She did not need too. She knew something was troubling him, it was easy to tell, but he was not going to tell her. That much was obvious. She simply stayed silent and kept her head low, her eyes downcast. This position used to be uncomfortable for her, but these days it was easier to cope with. She was used to it by now. However, as he mentioned Paris, Natsumi suddenly looked up, hope evident in her eyes. She had not seen her parents in weeks, wanting to be home in case Kai decided to drop by. He liked her to be waiting for him. She bit her lip, but stayed where she was. She wasn't sure she should ask. However, the worst thing he could do would be to say no. She took a calming breath and looked at him, before dropping her head slightly. It was now or never. "Kai. Do you think perhaps that maybe I could accompany you? I have not seen my parents in so long and I would be sure to keep out of your way if you wish. Please. I'll do whatever you ask?" As usual her voice was soft and smooth. She was always fearful that if she spoke to loud he would be angry.

At one side Kai loved feeling superior for having the power of being able to control Natsumi's life but deep inside he was sick of her obeying everything that he told her. Gosh he wanted a wife not a f*king charmed doll or muggles would call them robots. Curious at Natsumi's reaction, Kai threw his papers at her, most of the time the eighteen years old would keep quiet instead of rebelling but who knows? Silence was a protection to Natsumi, Kai found no muse in Natsumi when she kept herself quiet. There were two possibilities; him leaving her alone or him being curious of her and will mess with her again. Kai hated seeing his girl with no reaction or being too careful toward him. Perhaps he was too harsh on her, he would break her heart and heal it and once he got her heart he would smash the fragile heart into pieces again. Kai had never had this childhood and now he's living in a little boy's life. Little boys loses their temper when they don't get what they want, they tend not to appreciate what they get. Kai is exactly the same, the only difference is that he's a full grown man with a job.

The dark brown haired groaned as he saw his fiance sitting on the ground. "What the h3ll are you doing?" He slammed himself back to the couch, leaning back as he closed his eyes feeling sick of Natsumi acting like a servant. It is true that he had made an impression to her that he wanted her that way but he had grown bored with her acting like one. Once again, he sat up straight and looked at her in the eyes "Get up" He said calmly before grabbing her by her arms, forcing her to sit next to him. "F*ck Natsumi!" He groaned once more. "If you are to be with me, start acting like a wife." His hazel eyes locked on Natsumi's brown eyes. Natsumi was only 18, she was just a child, she just got herself off school a year before and Kai understood this, the only thing that he couldn't understand is why she is acting like her life is ending when actually she's about to start a journey? Why else would he sleep around and date other girls if it isn't because he got bored with Natsumi? She was pretty dead to him, not much emotion, reaction. Sometimes there is... Sometimes... "You know what? This isn't going to work. What do you want?" For the first time in his life he asked the girl what she wanted. Free? Well of course Kai would love to set her free, he too was tortured for being tied up in this awkward relationship. The thing is that they couldn't be apart, their parents wouldn't let them but of course they could act like they got along but really they rarely see each other.

In all the sudden, an energy from the girl came out, judging from her tone, she wanted her wish to be granted so bad. "What if I say that you can't come?" This wasn't his final decision, he was just curious. He wanted to know how much she wanted to come, he loved feeling her aiming for something instead of reaching for other people's goal. Arrogant Kai would never let her know what he loved from Natsumi, he would keep it to himself, himself only. Even though most girls that he dated regularly dated him for his money, at least they knew what they wanted and they knew how to get it, Natsumi was so much better than those girls, so much beautiful and smart. To see the reaction of the young girl, Kai rejected her request "No" He said, locking his eyes at her. Of course Kai would change his mind, again this wasn't his final decision. It is true that Kai is a jerk but he's not as cruel as Kay or Eric, Kai knew how to make his girls happy even to Erica who brought disgrace to the family. Kai knew how much the young fiance of his missed her family, he too had sisters. Unlike Eric who had no mercy toward his enemies even though they've broke down to their knees, begging him for his mercy, Kai was different.

Natsumi stayed completely still and quiet, even as Kai threw his papers at her. What did he expect her to do? Move? No way, she was too well trained for that. She wasn't sure of exactly what he even wanted from her. He was always acting like a child, tantrums and yelling. It was always the same, yet he still expected her to actually pay attention to what he was doing? She was only eighteen. People seemed to keep forgetting that she was still only a child. Hell, she had only graduated last year! What did they expect from her. Kai barely even touched her. They had been living together for a decent length of time and the best she gets was a caress of the cheek or some other such thing and they were rarer then her actually seeing him. What was it he even wanted her to do? The only times he ever spoke to her was to request something off of her, or to tell her he was adding more money to her account. Which was something she did not need despite his thoughts. She gripped her hands slightly into fists and sat quietly. She was just so angry at him. She just knew he was eventually going to ask her to pick the papers up. He was such a bastard like that. She couldn't believe it when she had first met him. He had been a sweetheart. Seemingly something he reserved for when they were in public or together with her family. Neither of them were very often, in fact they were both quite rare. She let her hands rest after they began to hurt from her nails digging into her hand. She was relieved to notice however that they had not cut into her skin, she would have had to explain that one some how. She had to be so careful with the emotions she showed. Granted, she showed him many more emotions then he ever showed her and considering that he never showed her emotions anyway, it kind of represented how stagnant she felt in his existence.

Natsumi jumped slightly as Kai again cursed. He had been doing it alot lately and she began to wonder if it was stress related. However, even given his outburst, Natsumi didn't dare move. She had no idea if he wanted her to move or not, so she thought it would be better for her health to stay put, not matter how tired, frustrated or angry she may have been. She was in pain. Emotionally, mentally, in so many different ways. Her heart hurt, it hurt like hell and she didn't know why. Why was it that every time he was nice to her, or would touch her gently that her heart would race. And then during moments like this, her heart would hurt. She had no idea what any of it meant. She had never experienced it before. She had thought so many times of asking sisters or parents about it but realised that they wouldn't know what she was talking about. As far as they were concerned, Kai was a perfect gentleman. They had never seen him angry before. But Natsumi had. Like right now. He demanded that she get up and just as she was going to, her pulled her up by her arms, nearly ripping them out of their sockets and dragged her onto the lounge next to him. Still she remained silent. She wasn't sure whether to scream or cry, so instead she just stared at him, her hands in her lap her legs tucked under her, like how he had sat her when he had practically dropped her onto the lounge. She honestly had no idea how she was supposed to respond. Had he not wanted her to be like that? Did she not used to get into trouble for trying to sit with him? What the hell did he want from her. He couldn't have it both ways. When was he going to learn that?

It was when he asked her what she wanted that her eyes returned to looking at her knees. She was so used to being told what to do, that now having a question directed to her, it was like her brain was frozen. How was she even supposed to answer that? What kind of answer did he want specifically? She had no way of knowing. She couldn't read him like she could her family. She never was able to tell what he wanted. However it wasn't long until he returned to her earlier question of going with him. She looked at him hopefully. The last remnants of her emancipation spilling to the surface. However as soon as he answered her, the last little ray of hope exited her eyes. Broken spirit, broken mind. Wasn't that what he wanted from her? She had almost had it, that small taste of freedom. Now it had escaped her grasp for the last time. It was decided. She looked at him and grabbed his hand. Bringing it up to her face and caressing her own cheek with it before dropping it to her lap. She leaned closer to him until she was only inches away from his ear. Her voice was a soft and smooth as ever, as if what she was about to say was the most natural thing int the world. "You wanted to know what I want? You want to know what I want you to do to me?" She asked softly, her words almost a whisper. "I want you to kill me, Kai Norton. That is my request." She saw it as he only option left. She couldn't stand it here anymore.

Disappointed in what he saw, Kai cursed one last time before shutting his eyes as he laid back to the pillows placed neatly against his back. He had no idea what to do next, should he continue his routine? Hurting the innocent young girl by messing up with her feeling, cheating on her? Kai too faced similar situation as young Natsumi. His father would only care about Eric and Kay, no matter how hard Kai tried to impress his father, he wont care and he would let him know that Kai worth less than Eric. As for his mother, she was cruel and violent. She was a powerful dark wizard who would hurt anyone messing with her pride even to her own children. Now, Kai's duplicating his parents' cruel, injustice acts to his fiance. It had been a while now and he couldn't take it anymore, seeing his fiance in pain, remaining silent, not responding to his childish behavior, Kai had come to the conclusion that he would never want to spend his whole life with this kind of human being, no... He grew tired of her. Plans started coming up to his mind, he was thinking of discussing the little problem of his with his family but there would be unpleasant possibilities one of it is him being displeased by his parents. "F*ck who's life am I living?" He placed his palm to his forehead once more, massaging his head as he heard nothing but his breath pace.

Feeling his hand being grabbed by Natsumi, Kai automatically glared at her. How could she have the courage to touch him? She had never done this before and if she did it would be him making her do his will. Natsumi had the softest cheek Kai had ever touched, she was beautiful, any guy would be lucky to have her but Kai was blinded with his arrogant point of view. In a minute, the young girl lean toward him. Kai remained silent, he didn't move even a millimeter. He had no idea what was going on at the moment, he didn't know what was in Natsumi's mind. She probably had lost it, was she not scared of him? Young Natsumi began speaking, her breath was warm, her voice was soft, as soft as the finest cotton but the words struck him in the heart. Was he really that bad? Or was the girl being too sensitive? "Excuse me" He glared at her disbelieving what he heard. He wanted her to kill her? Well he would be glad to do so but why? It was his turn to lean toward the brown haired girl, his breath became deeper and shorter as he eyed her in anger "Don't you dare requesting such thing" His fists were ready to knock the girl down but he wasn't going to do that, instead he punched coffee table beside him, scattering the broken glass. "DON'T move" He ordered, he wanted her no harm, he didn't want her to step on the glass causing more blood spilling on the floor. He took his wand as he flicked it, tidying the mess. Next he walked toward the sink and washed away the blood, feeling the warm water stinging the cuts.

Ignoring the pain on his fist, Kai walked back toward the couch "Stand up" He ordered, this time he didn't pull the young girl up. "Dear child, The request that you asked for is denied, first of all you and I know that if I kill you then I would be sent to Azkaban and you know what's going to happen next. I'm sorry but I aint gonna live in that tower for the rest of my life. The competition between Eric and I isn't over" He said before taking a deep breath as he looked at her in the eye, this time he was softer and calmer than before. "Scr3w our past. Hi, my name is Kai and I don't f*cking know who you are nor your background but I'd like to get to know you." In other word Let's start over, you know my past, you know my family and how they've been treating me and it's not going to be easy for me to change to a better person but hey at least I'm willing to try. Don't expect me to change in a snap. Please, please understand me. Eyes would never lie, Natsumi was in pain and she wanted to be loved, Kai was not one of those who could express his feelings freely toward other people, he wasn't raised that way but he was willing to love Natsumi.

Natsumi looked at Kai after she finished her request. He was visibly shocked by what he had heard. Was her request really that surprising to him? What did he expect after the way he had been treating her. She was shocked that she hadn't done it earlier to be honest, but she had tried so hard to live this life that her parents had so eagerly forced her into. Had she hit a nerve with her words? He was so angry at her. As usual, Natsumi's heart froze like it normally did. Her guard up over her heart to help it try to heal. He almost seemed hurt by her request. Was it really that bad? Had he not expected for her to make such a request? What else did he think she was going to do? He never loved her, never tried to make her feel happy, she never smiled, nor did he. That was the first time she had even touched him without first asking his permission. She wanted him to kill her. It really was something she had thought about for awhile. It was true, she would sadden her family, but maybe by then they will have realised what she had to live through every day. He spoke to her again. Deep words, glaring at her as he spoke them. She glanced down at his fists. Was he going to hit her? Is that how he was going to resolve this situation? She covered her face with her arms. If he was going to hit her, he would rather it be on her body where she could easily hide it, then on her face, where her family or friends would notice. However, he did not hit her, instead he smashed his fists into the coffee table, effectively smashing its delicate design. Well that was just great. Now she was going to have to clean it up.

Just as Natsumi went to stand and pick up the broken glass, Kai warned her not to move, and so she didn't. This was not what she had expected from him at all. Was he going to clean up the broken glass himself? She waited cautiously. She watched him leave, heading toward the kitchen. Natsumi sighed and leaned back into the lounge. She wasn't sure what to expect after this. Was he going to come back into the room? His hand had been all bloody as he left. He had tidied up the mess before he left, but she figured that didn't really matter as it was only a small thing anyway. When he returned, Natsumi watched him carefully. Standing when he asked her too. She was curious as to why he had not forced her to stand this time? Instead of thinking too much about it, Natsumi listened to what Kai had to say. So indeed he was not going to kill her. She cast her head down. Was there no way out of this torture for her? She didn't want to have to spend her life in a loveless relationship. However, Kai next words surprised her and she suddenly found herself looking up at him, shock written all over her face. She was stunned and for what felt like hours, she couldn't move. Her heart was racing at a million miles a minute and she didn't know what to say. She did the only thing she could think of at the time. She bowed. "Hello Kai. I am Natsumi, it will be my pleasure to tell you my story". She could not believe what was happening. She was actually happy and for the first time ever, she actually smiled in front of Kai.
OOCOut of Character:
Sorry its crap :(

Kai couldn't believe what he saw, it had been years since they knew each other and it had been years since he introduced her to his materialistic lifestyle and none of those made her smile. For the first time in his life, he saw the girl smiling AT HIM not at someone else. Soothing words instead of money made her smile, true that he was rude and he sounded like an unforgivable jerk but at least a progress had been made. Instead of denying the root of the problem, Kai was facing it and fixing it for the very first time. Perhaps the silence made it all worse, Kai needed a woman who could give him a council, who would slap him in the face and yell at him when he mistreat her. All these years he none telling him how cruel he was, well how could he know if no one advise him what was good and what was not? Everyone had their own conscience and Kai's was different than Natsumi's, his was frozen and abandoned. Misconduct often occur in his family this allowed him to act violently toward others while a lot of people found that unacceptable.

The head of Kai's started to pound worse than before, he wanted to grab his fiance by her neck and kill her already, ending all these mess. Controlling his behavior was a huge effort for him, the worst thing the girl could do was to cry or remain silent.

Why? Why her? God she's just a child

Natsumi was only eighteen, other girls would be thrilled being accepted in the Ministry or working as one of the Daily Prophet journalist but Natsumi had to live with this monster.
She will grown up into a mature young lady one day, who would change Kai for good. Questions arises in his head, he couldn't understand why he was paired up with her? The age gap was pretty big for him, in both of their cultures seniority was a big thing and this made the whole situation worse. How could Natsumi's parents trust her to a person like Kai? Kai had the reputation of being a player, was she unloved? "You may come, you may stay with them, and you are allowed to leave this place forever if you wish for that to happen" He was setting her free. Dear Merlin she was just a year above Kay and Kay was a big baby, if she had to be in Natsumi's situation, she would kill everyone around her and then herself. "Speak d@mmit!" He was expecting her to speak up, telling him what was in her mind instead of remaining quiet.

"I'm hungry" The young man decided to break the silence as he walked toward the kitchen and grabbed an instant noodle out of the cabinet. Remembering that Natsumi was also there, the young man reach for another bag of instant noodle and threw it to the boiling pot. He didn't ask if she wanted to eat or not, if the girl was full then Kai could finish all of it. Actually, Kai had never asked Natsumi to cook for him or clean his things, well sometimes. But most of the time he would do it himself, he was independent and he hated other people doing his stuff. Most of the time Kai would leave Natsumi alone for weeks and come back for a day and leave the very next day. Well what do you expect? Both rarely talk to each other and Kai was too stubborn and selfish to break the ice.
Next he took two bowls and poured the well cooked instant noodle to the bowls, placing it gently on the table as he took a seat, waiting for his girl to come and accompany him eating "Do you not want to eat?" He asked flatly not even looking at her.
