The days since the summer vacation had melded into one another and Amelia Colthorpe
had hated when the last days of her time in France had to come to an end and she had
to return to dreary old England and school. She had finally met a boy and begun dating
much to her fathers chagrin but Leonardo was amazing. Absolutely handsome, sweet and
completely and utterly wonderful. They had spent many evenings simply talking into the
late hours until her parents had sent a patronus to get her to come home. Embarrassing
as that had been, nothing had been able to mar the perfect summer romance she had.

Not the rain splattered countryside or the mucking out of her horses stable, not the
return to school or the endless assignments. She was now in her 6th year of Hogwarts
and felt as if she were finally coming into her own. She had grown another inch or two
over the vacation but had only noticed the difference when she had put on her school
skirt from the year before. She hated anything too high above her knee but now as she
dressed for her reunion with Leonardo, she chose her outfit carefully and selected a
dazzling green dress nicely understated but absolutely chic. Indianna had helped her
pick it out of course on one of their many shopping trips together.

This entire trip had been unexpected, a weekend free of school and her father had
decided on a whim to head back to France for the few days. He had obvsiously had
enough of the rain as well. Slipping her feet into her gladiator sandals Mia brushed out
her long hair and headed out to where she was to meet Leonardo. Her heart sang,
her mouth felt dry and her palms felt sweaty. She could not wait to meet him and simply
fling her arms about him.

He had ran the thoughts through his minds many times before. Consequently it would've drove him mad but Leonardo came to a conclusion that morning. That morning he told himself it was time to be honest to Mia. It would've continued to be a lie, but when she announced that she would be visiting France again, he couldn't lie anymore. Not only was he hurting himself to keep the secret locked away from the world, he was also hurting Mia. His dove and sunshine of rays or those words he was used to describe her. Or the flower that made everything just feel alright, Leonardo just couldn't hurt her. Maria taught her son to be honest and even if his dearest mother didn't know the truth as well. He felt he owed it more for Mia to know the truth, he had share something more intimacy, he had share the words of like and loves. In the end he knew he loved Mia just not that way.
"Ma colombe" Leonardo muttered, his hands sliding up to his chest. A tinge of guilt build right in the pit of his stomach. He was feeling something far more worse than fatigue as he waited for Mia. They've always met somewhere exclusive, away from the disapproving eyes of her scowling parents? Away from those interfering of something so gracious, he just didn't know if he could do what she wanted him to do. Leonardo walk down the patio of his best friend Daniel flat. He sauntered across the courtyard and walked passed an old white bench, the decomposing of colors were flaking down the bench. It was now a fading white instead of something bleech and new. Leonardo kept walking till he reached a pond scenery, where the landscape reminded Leonardo of a famous painting. He found a newer bench and sat down. He cuffed his sleeves up a little, reclining back against the bench. He waited for his colombe, Mia to get here. The more he waited the more he felt anxious. The fresh scent of axe effect was waring out, Leonardo sighed deeply as his heart drop. Nothing could beat this feeling, nothing made him feel wreckless than now.

She had never been so excited in all her life but then again she
had never had a relationship before either. Plenty of male friends
but a boyfriend was completely different. It didn't bother her how
some of her friends had warned her about these foreign boys and
how they only wanted a summer romance and nothing more but she
knew Leonardo, knew his heart like her own. They had told one
another so many secrets and stories over the vacation, had told
each other that they loved one another. She knew it wasn't too
soon, how could something that made her feel positively giddy and
radiant be wrong?

Mia made her way through crowds of students alighting from a bus,
then down a narrow flight of steps, a very long flight of steps. Soon
she would see him and any niggling fears or worries that her friends
had tried to plant in her would dissolve. She could almost feel his
arms about her already, his lips on hers and had to actually pause
as the sensation seemed so real. Her fingers traced along the ridge
of her mouth as she smiled. Just thinking about him was heavenly.
Her sandaled feet brought her closer and closer to him, soon she
would be nearing the pond. Butterflies beat frantically within her as
she began to scan the people milling about to find him.

Joshua came out after Leonardo. Joshua wanted to make sure Leonardo told the truth and not lie, like he had been doing all along. Joshua was growing feelings for Leonardo so when he spotted him on the bench alone, Joshua went over to comfort his love. "Leonardo?Avez-vous déjà dit? Ou n'avez-vous pas?" Joshua asked in French.
Leonardo was surprise to hear Joshua voice. "What are you doing here Joshua? No I haven't told her yet. This was suppose to be, between me and her" Leonardo scowled at Joshua. Getting up from the bench, he was about ready to leave and forgetting his meeting with Mia. Joshua grabbed his arm, "Stop running away! You keep acting this way and you'll never tell her the truth" Joshua spat madly back at Leonardo. Leonardo couldn't believe this, he couldn't believe that Joshua would bring such drama in his life. He had the urge to knock him down, though he didn't. He just kept shouting back at Joshua, "Go back home! Stop its not your place to be telling her" he spoke angry at Joshua. Joshua didn't want to hear another word of it, instead he grabbed Leonardo into a forceful kiss. Leonardo grabbed his shirt, pushing away. "I said enough! Joshua go home now" he spoke in disgust by Joshua action. Leonardo will never be open, he would always feel the same way, but nobody needed to know his sexual orientation, that was his business. No one else but the other person he cared about. Clearly Joshua had no respect, Leonardo shook angrily at Joshua.

Each dark haired young man that moved into her line of vision was hastily viewed
and hastily rejected as not being Leonardo. Just when it seemed she would not
find him among the mass of people congregating in the park, her deep brown eyes
alighted on him and she smiled. The crowd may as well have parted for her then,
she seemed to glide through them effortlessly. But the nearer she approached, the
more she saw. Another boy equally tall and devastatingly goodlooking was kissing
Leonardo. Her steps faltered, her mouth gaped open. Another boy was kissing her
boy! Hurt and confusion marred her features as her steps slowed down considerably.
She still approached but not as swiftly, not as assuredly as she had been.

Her eyes noted that Leonardo pushed the other guy away from him but it was still
too much to comprehend. Soon she was standing close enough for her to speak
without causing a scene.
"Leonardo?" the uncertainty clouded her voice, the pain of what she had seen etched
across her beautiful face. Her world was crashing down around her. Her life had been
so sheltered that boys kissing other boys was simply unheard of.

Leonardo heard the rushing of leaves but didn't pay no mind to it. He was to busy convincing Joshua this was none of his concern. What Joshua and Leonardo had wasn't stronger than what Mia and Leonardo grew to have during the summer. It was the truth, yet his feelings for Mia will never match up to true love. He loved her, he cared about her, something inside just told him it wasn't the right kinda of love. Joshua was just someone he briefly knew a couple months ago, Leonardo had open up. He regret the mistake, Joshua been nothing but problems. "Joshua..."
He began to say.
Leonardo stop when he heard the familiar voice call his name. Leonardo heart drop completely when he knew it was Mia. Turning around slightly he look down ashame. "Tell her Leonardo!" Joshua would call out again. Leonardo flinch and cursed Joshua out enough, it made the boy jump to his heel and walk away. But before Joshua left, "Hope you know he's gay, he just afraid to admit that to you" Joshua prance so feminine like, his lips displayed a coy smile. Leonardo threaten him with a fist, couple steps back Joshua left before their sight. "Mia, let me explain" Leonardo would speak after a few minutes of dead silence. "I didn't want you to find out this way, I'm sorry" he sounded ashame. Ashame because he lead her on, ashamed because of Joshua. Leonardo dropped his shoulders and lower his head. He didn't have any other words to explain what just happen.

She watched frantically, her eyes passing from one boy
to the other. Just what Leonardo was supposed to tell
her, she wasn't sure she actually wanted to know. The
other boy parted with words that left her astounded. Just
what he implied with his use of the word 'gay' she wasn't
entirely certain but she was sure it had nothing to do
with being bright and merry. Taking a step forward she
looked at Leonardo pleadingly.

"What does he mean Leonardo?" her brown eyes questioned
him in earnest, "You didn't want me to find what out, what
way?"

Turning her head she watched the other boy walking away
and wondered if perhaps Leonardo had liked the boy kissing
him. Was that what this was about? No, it couldn't be. He
had told her that he loved her, she had professed the same
to him.
"Leonardo?" she waited to hear what he had to say, hoping
that he would simply just wrap his arms about her and tell
her everything was fine that it was all just a silly game the
other boy was playing.

"Mia we need to talk" Leonardo said each word sounding more heavier then the next. He had to tell her the truth or else he would continue living this lie. "Come over to this bench, I'm not sure how you'll take this" he walked over towards the bench. He waited for her to take the seat next to him or not, alas he continued saying what he had to tell Mia. "I wasn't honest with you from the beginning. There are parts in where I know words weren't true but there something I have to say before you say anything" he sighed, his palms open. One thumb trace the outline of his other hand. He didn't look up when he spoke, instead he kept his face low. A bad action on his part he just didn't have enough courage to face her. Mia just had that effect on him, a feeling that made her want to shiver.
"Well I want to say I do love you Mia, I love everything about you" he said with meaningful definition to the word "love". "I'm just not in love with you in that way Mia" he pressed his lips together after saying what he just said. "Vous comprenez ce que je veux dire?" he asked Mia if she understood what he was trying to say. That what Joshua had said was right. What he's been living for lately is a lie. That their relationship had meanings, but never meanings for it to grow. Leonardo can ramble on in the back of his mind, but he quiet those voices. Instead of asking he just kept staring right back into mirrors of beauty. Tough part about this all, Mia was the most prettiest and only girl whoever caught Leonardo attention. It had been his first official girlfriend.

ia could not help but smile unwaveringly at the boy who was the great
love of her young life. He was so handsome sometimes she thought the
gods had created him out of sunshine and moon dust, completely other
worldly. Slowly she walked to the bench and sat down alongside of him,
knowing that she wanted to run as fast as possible away from here. The
feeling of foreboding seemed to cover her like an itchy blanket that she
could not wait to shed.

She watched his face before following his gaze to his hands, wanting to
place her own with his but knowing somehow that she shouldn't. He wanted
too, needed to tell her something and the sooner he did it the better for them
both. When he told her that he loved her, she smiled of course he did! They
had already declared as much to one another through out the summer and
then the axe fell. The guillotine severed her illusion and she was left sitting
there numbed by his words. She looked about her startled a moment, children
played a game of hopscotch on the pavement further away giggling amongst
themselves. A couple sat near the fountain sharing an ice cream, a middle
aged man was taking random photographs of people in the park and she
wasn't sure what kind of expression she must have had but for a moment he
looked at her through the lense of his camera and then paused to look at her
without it. Her green eyes met the photographers brown and as if a moment
of understanding passed between them, the man saw the sadness in her eyes
and though she was picture perfect he could not bring himself to snap her image.
He turned away and walked on. Mia's eyes continued to look about; yes the world
was continuing on but surely everyone could hear her heart breaking? Surely
everyone could feel as if the end of the world was nigh because she certainly could.

What did that mean, he loved her but was not in love with her? Mia finally glanced
at him and shook her head. How could she understand when he was the first boy
she had ever dated, the first boy she had ever loved. Was there a difference in the
degrees of love a person could have? Mia's green eyes filled with a film of tears as
she regarded Leonardo and shook her head once more.
