Lumio had come to Hufflepuff and had asked one of the younger student to go in and get a Manaia. He was sure he knew this boy from the brotherhood but he also wasn't that certain of it. He liked this, the rose giving, but it was tiring and it did require quite a bit of knowledge of the school. He thought it was an interest use of his time, and it was good to see people light up.

Yellow rose for Manaia Te Rangi

After his encounter with Molly, Manaia had changed his mind about today. It was much safer to hide up in his dorm, and try his hardest not to think about love. He had just started on a new song when someone knocked on the door, saying someone outside was looking for him. Great. He used to love Valentines day, but it was hard to believe in anymore when his vision of true love was so completely shattered. Best to just get it over with. So he stepped out of the common room, spotting an older boy from the brotherhood with a basket of roses. "You were looking for me?"

Lumio nodded at the boy who greeted him, he didn't seem that happy at the prospect of this, but Lumio pushed on. He took out the yellow rose and the note the went along side it and held them out to the boy. "Here you go Manaia,"

Hey bro!

Happy Valentine's Day! Can’t wait to make more music with you!

Eugene

Manaia was relieved when the rose the older boy handed him was yellow, nodding in thanks. "Cheers." He said, opening the note quickly. He smiled slightly when he saw it was from Eugene, making a mental note to thank the boy next time he saw him.

Lumio nodded to the boy, it seemed he was pretty happy for the rose. "No problem," he replied simply, since it was no issue to him to deliver a rose and it seemed to have perked the boy up a little too. "Are you usually not one for roses?" Lumio decided to ask, though he had other places to really be getting to.

Manaia was getting ready to head back to his dorm when the older boy spoke and he paused, shrugging. "Not really." He said slowly, trying to figure out how to get out of explaining why. "Just... weird time of year, I guess." He said evasively, taking another step towards the common room.

Lumio watched the boy and could at least sense that he didn't want to talk about it. "Well, you're part of the brotherhood, if you ever need a chat with an older brother, then, just send me a note," he wouldn't keep the boy, it wasn't his place to force the boy into a conversation, but Lumio would always offer an ear for someone who needed it. "Happy Valentine's day!" he the added, beginning to pull up his list to be able to see who he was to find next.

Manaia was a bit surprised when Lumio offered to talk with him, giving a small shrug and nod. He knew it was what the brotherhood was for, but having someone older he could go to for help was a foreign thought. Manaia was so used to being the oldest of everyone - his siblings, his cousins, he was always the one people went to for help. Having the option to go to someone else felt strange, and he already knew he would feel uncomfortable doing it. Like he had failed somehow. Still, he wasn't going to say that. "Chur*, thanks." He nodded, giving a short wave as the older boy left, grateful to be able to retreat to his dorm.

*Chur - NZ slang. Means thanks in this context but has a lot of different meanings, generally related to thanking/acknowledging someone.
