This was the night of All Hallow's Eve and that was not only the night for the Halloween feast, but also marks another year on his growing age. Styx would never allow people outside of the family to know about this either. He simply used his wand to decorate the Great Hall for the feast. The pumpkins are carved in similar, uniform faces that were typical Halloween fashion. The ceiling was decorated with orange and black streamers. Most of the lights came from the floating candles and the jack-o-lanterns. The night sky was lit with clouds and stars, and occasionally some bats could be seen flying overhead.
As per tradition at Hogwarts New Zealand, the Halloween Feast had several stations set up around the Great Hall. Styx kept them the same since he assumed that his sort of change would be severely frowned upon, and could bring about nightmares. There were many games, such as bobbing for apples in a huge cauldron, a dementor pinata, a spooky tent with rattling coffins, mirrors and moving skeletons within. The four house tables were pushed to the side and covered with cauldrons full of candy, pumpkin pasties, pumpkin juice, and many others. Styx doubted that there would be plenty left.
Styx stood at the front of the hall, staring down at the gathered students and staff. He looked the same as ever - cold and stern. He did not dress up whatsoever (he wouldn't anyway). There was a costume contest anyway. "Welcome to the Halloween feast. If you are dressed in costume, enter in the Costume Competition to earn a trophy and house points." Styx was glad that he did not have to worry about the house cup anymore - as if he did when he was Slytherin Head of House. He concluded, "And that is it. Curfew is extended by one hour tonight only."
