The end of the school year was here, the end of another year as headmaster. The end of his final year as headmaster, which was a bittersweet thought. He was happy to help April and her daughter more, but he would miss the school so much. Maybe one day he could return here, not to lead, but to teach. He hoped he had done a good job as headmaster, but he also knew it wasn't were his true strengths were. Looking at the staff sitting at the table, he knew he would be leaving the school in capable hands.

As the students filed in, the banners adorning the Great Hall rippled and changed to reflect the signature blue and bronze colors of Ravenclaw house, signifying their victory for the year. It was nice, seeing his own house win in his final year. It was like a small sign he was doing the right thing, even if that was probably a little silly. Matt made his way to the podium, waiting quietly for everyone to settle into their seats before speaking. "Welcome everyone to this year's final feast. Before we begin, I'd like to say a few words. First of all, a round of applause for the winners of this year's House Cup - congratulations to Ravenclaw!" He said, gesturing to the Ravenclaw table before conjuring the cup seemingly from thin air. He presented it to Professor Josephs on behalf of her house, giving her a big smile.

"Of course, we can't forget those students whose dedication and hard work earned the most points for their respective houses. Our top house point earners this year are - in first place, Lilith Ilves of Ravenclaw, with a grand total of 1160. In second place, with 995 points - Teddy Pirrip of Gryffindor. In third, Winnie Calida of Slytherin, with 750. Last but not least, we have Zack Choi, with 674 points for Hufflepuff. Congratulations to our winners." The Headmaster joined in the applause for each of them, commending their efforts and achievements toward their house.

As the applause died down, Matt gestured for silence so he could say a last few words. "With that, the school year of 2066 has ended. I hope you enjoy the feast and have a wonderful break. It is with a sad heart that I announce that this has been my final year at this school as headmaster. I want to thank you all for the wonderful years I had here. I am sad to see it all go and that I will miss more wonderful moments with all of you. I hope that you will all welcome my successor with open hearts. I wish you all the best. Thank you." With that, he sat down and looked at his plate as he fought down his tears. He hadn't expected to get this sad. He really would miss it here. He hoped all the students would have a great feast, he would be thinking about them a lot in the future.

Mania couldn't believe the year was already over as she clapped for everyone that'd done well to deserve most points. On top of that, their Headmaster was leaving. Unlike her usual cheery attitude and broad smile the Gryffindor was now sporting a frown. She'd been in an unusually foul mood today, because much like their school's seventh years, her sister was graduating too and she wasn't able to attend it because Hera was on the other side of the globe. Besides she'd not see Amortentia around school next year and she'd just managed to befriend the Headmaster too! With a huff Nia pushed her food around the plate, suddenly conflicted between wanting to stay at school for the break so things didn't change and wanting to go home so she could congratulate her older sister.

Lilith was happy to see another year in Ravenclaw's favour. She knew she'd done a lot of work, especially during the second half of the year. She'd maybe even done a little too much if she was being honest, having wanted to bury herself in the textbooks and what not. However as she was announced to have earned the most points for her house for a second year in a row the fourth year felt her cheeks flush a little. Clapping to the rest of the students that had gained points for their respective houses, Lili then focused on the food in front of her. Hearing the announcement about the Headmaster leaving felt weird. Not only were all their Professors switching next year, but now so was the Headmaster. No matter she'd not interacted much with him over the years, it was still weird seeing things change.

Eris wasn't all that bothered about the end of year, nor about who got and didn't get points for their houses. She was just glad she was about to go back home for a bit where she'd have some much needed un-magical archery. Just her and her traditional arrows. She'd given a vague clap to everyone but now she was more interested in the food in front of her, she supposed the year had been good for her. She'd done a lot, even if it'd started with that upsetting seven year long jail sentence to be served down in the musty dungeons, she was still trying to get used to those too. "You think the next headmaster is someone already a Professor here?" Eris asked from no one in particular, peering around the other house tables.

Juniper couldn't believe the semester was over. She gave claps to each one of the students announced as their houses top point earner, glad it wasn't her for her own house. She might die from shame in the spot if anyone ever spoke her name out loud in front of the entire school, good circumstances or not. A small frown appeared on the Hufflepuff's face as the Headmaster broke the news that he'd be leaving the school behind, sad he seemed like a kind man. Staring at the food in front of her Juniper bit the inside of her cheek. The year had been a good one, she'd made a lot of friends or more so figured out that they were friends. Next year was her third year and she couldn't lie and say she wasn't a little anxious. "Doesn't third year mean we'll have to go buy our own books?" The brunette asked quietly from the person next to her. Merlin that was going to stress her out no doubt, plus there were supposedly loads of new electives too and she was supposed to know what to take. Yeah her appetite was gone.

Morrie had been sitting in a state of boredom listening to the ranking of the biggest nerds, when the announcement hit about the headmaster leaving. “What?” Morrie didn’t even know why that annoyed her so much since she’d accidentally grown to like him but it was another loss she hadn't been ready for. "So that's it, he's just quit on us?" She slammed her fist onto the table hard enough to rattle the cutlery to vent out some frustration then ignored the food when that appeared.

Teddy had known this day was coming for so long that now it was finally here it was kind of exciting to celebrate but sad to say farewell to Hogwarts too. The head boy was disappointed Gryffindor hadn’t taken the house cup. Seven years and not once, and not for lack of trying either. He’d always been a top points scorer, sometimes first, though this year the honour had gone to Lilith and he could live with that. From everything his dad had said, she deserved it. Then came the announcement about Matt leaving, Teddy had already known from his dad too but it was still sad to see him go. Once the food appeared Teddy's gaze drift down the Gryffindor table for the last time. He lifted his goblet to those nearest to him. “A toast,” he said, “To Gryffindor. Still the best house overall even if we don't have the banner to prove it."

Ruby was woken from her daydream by the suddenly loud hall when the students all started talking amongst themselves all at once. She side eyed Juniper who has said something to her about books but Ruby hadn't really heard it with all the other noise around her. "Sorry. You want to fight me for my books?" She asked confused, what a strange thing for Juniper to say to her. Ruby was up for it, but still, it was weird.

@Juniper Veritas

Juniper was still staring at her food when Ruby answered next to her. All the colour in the second years face drained and panic engulfed her like never before. "N-no! No I don't want to fight you for your books." She began rambling, shaking her head turning to look at her roommate with wide eyes. Merlin she really hoped Ruby didn't want to actually fight her. "I don't want to fight, I'm just nervous about having to go buy all the books." She added to clarify, hoping the girl wouldn't fight her anyways.

@Ruby Beese

Ruby blinked at Juniper as she explained the mishear, “Ohhh youre just scared of buying books,” she said slowly, “Right, yeah that makes way more sense now.” Ruby rolled her eyes and looked the other way, thinking there were some odd characters in Hufflepuff.

@Juniper Veritas

Juniper just blinked a few times at Ruby, feeling relieved she wasn't going to fight her but also the way the girl rolled her eyes made her feel stupid. Deciding not to say anything further she returned her eyes to her plate, as if it was going to help her feel any more competent with the book dilemma. Maybe she could ask one of her friends to go with her? Then again maybe they too would roll their eyes, okay maybe she'd just do it on her own and it wouldn't be that bad?

Marley had been having a mix of emotions. She couldn't believe that this was it. The Hufflepuff knew that this day would come, but she hadn't expected the day to come so fast. Marley sat on the Hufflepuff table with the rest of the Hufflepuffs, with a mix of emotions. She was mostly sad to be leaving this place, and she knew she was going to miss a lot of people here. Marley listened to what the headmaster had to say, cheering and clapping when she was supposed to. She wasn't surprised that Teddy was one of the top point earners, but was happy for him nevertheless. Her jaw had dropped a little when the headmaster had told the students that this was his final year. She looked around her table, and a few of the students had similar reactions. "I wasn't expecting that" Marley had said aloud in shock. It wasn't long before the food appeared on the table, and they were ready to eat. Her final feast here. How crazy is that?

Fiona had a mixture of feelings about this year, and yet she couldn't exactly explain that feeling. She was confused about it all. The Gryffindor hated to admit it, but she was glad she wasn't exactly alone at school. She had her sister and her cousin here. Despite how annoying Declan is, she guessed he was pretty okay. Fiona had zoned out the entirety of the headmaster's speech, but her thoughts were cut off when she started to hear a few gasps around her. She looked around, noticing people's jaws dropping or their looks of surprise. Fiona frowned in confusion, leaning towards the person that she was sitting next to. "Huh? What shocking news did I miss out on?"

Thomas was always glad when this time of year swung by. He was always happy to be home. Sure, he had made a few friends here. But after years of being at Hogwarts, the feeling of this place always felt unfamiliar to him. He always missed home. He couldn't wait to be at home and be in this garden again, tending it and all. Thomas listened intently to what was being said, clapping and all. He tilted his head in confusion when the headmaster told them he'd be leaving. Which was a strange thing to think about. He wondered what their next headmaster would be like.

Sophie wasn't sure what to think about school. She was glad that the year had flown by, but she was a bit disappointed with how her grades looked. She knew she had to do better with her academics and all. But she couldn't help but feel disappointed with it all. Sophie listened as the headmaster spoke and clapped for her peers who had made it as the top point earners this year. However, she had to do a double-take of what the headmaster had said. "Woah, wonder what the next headmaster is going to be like then"

Theo always liked being at school. He liked learning and seeing his friends, but he was glad to be going back home. Back to his own room and seeing his family. Sure, he saw his brother around from time to time at school, but it wasn't the same. Theo did miss his younger sister, though, and was a little sad at the thought of her being at home alone with just her parents. But he knew he had to spend as much time with her before heading back to school again. Theo definitely was going to miss school while on break, though. He knew he was going to miss his friends. Though he couldn't help but feel a little worried for Miles, while on break, noticing the look of tiredness and a bit grumpier at times than normal. Theo couldn't shake the feeling that something else was up with his friend.

Theo listened to what the headmaster had to say. However, at the news of the headmaster's departure, he whipped his head around his house table, looking around to seeing different people's reactions. This had been big news for sure. He wondered what their next headmaster was going to be like. "Do you reckon the next headmaster is gonna be strict?"

Declan was honestly glad to be going home. He didn't have to worry about hearing the nagging of Molly telling him to beware of Little Will. He thought he did a little better job at looking after his pet tarantula than the previous year. However, Declan couldn't help but notice how much slower his pet tarantula had been. He did start to realise the tarantula was getting older, and it was starting to reach that old age of a spider. But he didn't like the idea of Little Will getting old. Declan had been zoning in and out of the speech of the headmaster, but had zoned back in, in time for when he had announced about him leaving. Little Will had been perched by his side, luckily not moving around too much. He frowned a little at what was announced. "I hope the next headmaster doesn't mind you wandering around the corridors" Declan muttered to his pet. Declan had been known to a few students and professors alone that he had the tendency to leave his tarantula to walk around the school freely.

Eloise couldn't believe that she had finished her second year at school. She thought she had enjoyed her year. Sure, she didn't do as much as she had hoped she would, but she was happy about her school year nevertheless. Eloise didn't really pay attention to what was being said or what was happening. She had ended up missing out on the news entirely about the headmaster leaving. Eloise smiled gleefully when the food had finally arrived and dug into her food. "Was there anything important that the headmaster had said? I wasn't really paying attention to be honest," Eloise says with a small shrug and smile, as she turned to the person next to her.

Ollie thought his first year at Hogwarts had been a decent one. He made a few friends and got on with his roommates, which he had been pleased about. He definitely missed his family back home, though, and was glad to be heading back home. Oliver clapped and listened to what the headmaster had to say. Though he had shrugged a little like it was nothing when the headmaster had mentioned that he was leaving. He hadn't had that headmaster for that long, nor did he know the guy for that long; he wasn't that bothered by the news. It wasn't long before the food had appeared on the table and they were able to dig in. "Any good plans for the break at all? No school for a while, I'm happy bout that"

Callie couldn't believe this was her last night at hogwarts. She had always known this would happen, but seven years was so long, one might forget that it would. She listened and cheered for the winning house one last time, and cheered for the top students, letting herself be more reflective about her time at Hogwarts as the food appeared. She was definitely going to miss this place.

Apolline was really really hoping for a Gryffindor house cup victory, but it seemed it really was not on the cards. She knew they'd come close, but the ravenclaw banners gave the game away. She nodded at the words spoken, listening with ease to what was being said and applauding for the students and house alike. Apolline glanced towards the food as it appeared beginning to decide what she wanted to eat.

Magne had not enjoyed the final exams he'd had that year, of course he was sure they'd gone fine, but he hadn't loved all of the studying and work that he had needed to do. he didn't want to fail, he didn't think anything bad would happen if he did, but he just hadn't wanted to do that. Magne was looking forward to the break, to doing nothing, and just being on the ocean with his parents. He applauded for his house and for the top students, he knew for all the work he did put in, he would never been one of those people.

Winnie knew her name was appearing in the top points, she also knew she wasn't first, but as long as it came up then she knew she'd be fine, at least until the end of the break. She had a lot riding on this year, a lot of things that needed to go right for her. She had put a little more effort into her appearance for the feast, knowing that when her name was called people would look at her. She sat up straight, she kept her head high and didn't applaud for hers, not bothering to act humble as her name was called, top in her house, third overall, could be worse. Winnie didn't care about the rest of it.

Daiki wasn't sure he was looking forward to being a fifth year, he knew that that meant being an OWL student, and he found his current exams stressful enough, and he knew they would get worse. He wasn't doing excellently either, passing his classes but that was about it. Daki was at the hufflepuff table, sitting with Kairi and looking at the headmaster as the man spoke. He applauded for the top students, though he had no idea who the zack person who'd won for his house. He reach over when the food appear, grabbing Kairi's favourite dish for her.
