Their game was coming up quick and Zoey was feeling nervous. She wanted to sound encouraging but she was sure she came off much sharper than she intended. "Alright everyone, you know what yo do." she said firmly with her hands on her hips. "We're going to have a difficult season with no alternates so I need you all to give me your best out there." She took a deep breath and tried to exude a confidence she didn't feel. "So beaters I need you to take out who you can, and Nabi, you're going to need to be quick." Zoey added solemnly. "Let's go!" she said before blowing the whistle and taking to the air.

OOCOut of Character:
No arrivals, straight to it!

Melrose wasn't exactly feeling confident about Quidditch this year. He knew the team wasn't as popular as Quadpot at Ilvermorny but the knowledge that messing up could mean they ran out of players was more than a little scary. At least he wasn't a seeker or a beater, he thought, flying into the air and awkwardly palming the quaffle. He'd probably collapse under the pressure.

Having no alternates was rough and Ocean knew there was more pressure on everyone now. It was nothing she thought she couldn’t handle though. She quickly jumped onto her broom and tried to spot the bludgers.

Ocean flew after a bludger.

Zoey quickly grew impatient as she waited for Melrose to make a move so she swooped and stole the quaffle.

Melrose was warily eying Pearl as he circled the pitch, not even noticing Zoey was nearby until she was practically on top of him and wresting the quaffle from his grip. He didn't put up much of a fight, deciding to let the captains duke it out for the first goal as he hung back dejectedly.

Ocean swung at the bludger but missed.

Melrose hesitated again as Zoey headed towards the hoops. If he got in at the right angle he could totally knock the quaffle out of her arms he realized, but then what? He'd have to try and score or something. Instead, he hung back for now, looking hopefully for Hadrian or another player who'd be more confident about it.

Nabi took to the air and started looking around for the snitch.

Ocean turned around and chased after another bludger.

Zoey finally got to the hoops and threw the quaffle but it got blocked. With a huff she turned around and tried to keep her cool.

Watching Zoey's shot get blocked was exactly why Melrose had been happy to let her take the first shot on goal. Now maybe the pressure would be a little less as he fumbled to catch the quaffle as it was thrown back in.

Ocean hit the bludger she had been chasing but didn't manage to send it towards another player.

Hearing the crack of Ocean's beater bat on a bludger made Melrose nervous and he hurried tossed the quaffle towards the hoops, just glad to be rid of it. The sudden action must have caught Pearl off guard however as he was shocked to see it fly through the far right hoop.

Ocean failed to hit a bludger.

Shocked and quietly impressed with himself, even if it might have been an accident, Melrose hung back from the goals for a bit, not wanting to ruin his recent goal by dropping the quaffle or something.

Building up some of his courage, Melrose grabbed the quaffle, trying to keep more of a distance from Zoey this time as he took a lap of the pitch to build up some speed.

It was far-fetched to expect another goal but Melrose hoped maybe Pearl wouldn't be expecting it either. He could still hardly believe it when he managed to get the quaffle once again through that same far right hoop, checking over his shoulder to see if anyone else saw that.

Ocean dodged a bludger coming her way and turned her broom to follow it.

Ocean pushed forward to get closer to the bludger.

Still near the hoops, Melrose found the quaffle back in his possession, still fumbling awkwardly to catch it despite his recent success at scoring.

Melrose knew his streak had to come to an end sooner or later, but he still felt his heart sink when, aiming for that far right hoop again, his shot was easily blocked.

Feeling the familiar sensation of his confident dropping, Melrose hung back a bit as the quaffle was thrown back into play.

Nabi didn't see the snitch yet, she kept looking for it.
